<p>Donald Trump will attend Thursday's wake of a New
York City police officer gunned down in the line of duty, as
presumptive Republican presidential nominee has made crime a focus of
his third White House campaign and accused President Joe Biden of
lacking toughness.</p>
<p>The visitation for Officer Jonathan Diller, who was fatally shot
during a traffic stop Monday, will be held in suburban Massapequa.
Police said 31-year-old Diller was shot below his bulletproof vest while
approaching an illegally parked car in Queens.</p>
<p>Diller, who was married and had a 1-year-old son, was rushed to a hospital where he died.</p><p> <img alt="Family mourns NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller, shot by ex-con during Queens car stop" aria-hidden="false" class="sFlh5c pT0Scc iPVvYb" src="https://www.nydailynews.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Officer-Jonathan-Diller-with-son.jpg?w=620" style="height: 347px; margin: 0px; max-width: 620px; width: 618px;" /></p>
<p>Trump's visit comes as Biden will also be in New York for a
previously scheduled fundraiser with Democrat ex-presidents Bill Clinton
and Barack Obama. Shortly after the former president's campaign
announced he would attend the wake, a Republican Party account on social
media posted headlines contrasting Trump's planned visit with Biden's
fundraiser.</p>
<p>Trump has deplored crime in heavily Democratic cities, called for
shoplifters to be shot immediately and wants to immunize police officers
from lawsuits for potential misconduct. But he's also demonized local
prosecutors, the FBI and the Department of Justice over the criminal
prosecutions he faces and the investigation while he was president into
his first campaign's interactions with Russia.</p>
<p>He has also embraced those imprisoned for their roles on the Jan. 6,
2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, when a mob of his angry
supporters overran police lines and Capitol and local police officers
were attacked and beaten.</p>
<p>Trump's campaign did not offer more details about his appearance or whether he planned to speak.</p>
<p><b><span style="font-size: medium;">"President Trump is moved by the invitation to join NYPD Officer
Jonathan Diller's family and colleagues as they deal with his senseless
and tragic death," Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said in a
statement.</span></b></p>
<p>The former president and his supporters sought a similar split screen
with Biden earlier this month as they went after the president over
crime and illegal immigration while both were campaigning in Georgia.
Trump during his visit to the state met with the family of slain nursing
student Laken Riley. An immigrant from Venezuela who entered the U.S.
illegally is charged with her death.</p>
<p>Trump posted about Diller's death on his social media network
Tuesday, offering prayers to Diller's family and appreciation for law
enforcement. He also called the shooter a "thug" and noted that police
said Diller's alleged shooter, Guy Rivera, had numerous prior arrests,
declaring that he "NEVER should have been let back out on the streets."</p>
<p>Diller was the first New York City police officer killed in the line of duty in two years.</p>
<p>The last incident involved the fatal shooting of two New York City
police officers and the day after the second funeral, Biden visited the
department's headquarters and spoke to officers and top brass.</p>
<p>Biden has pledged the federal government will work more closely with
police to combat gun violence and crack down on illegal guns.</p>

<p>If you look at all various lawfare with which former President Donald
Trump is being pursued, there's a problem with virtually all of it. </p><p>With
the civil fraud case in New York, for example, you have Trump being
pursued by an attorney general for a charge where there was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/not-a-single-dollar-lost-by-these-victims-jonathan-turley-blasts-trump-fraud-verdict" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">no damage to the alleged "victims"</a>
and the banks involved wanted to do business with Trump again. Then,
Trump got hammered with a fine for hundreds of millions of dollars in an
amount bearing no relation to the damage. </p>
<p>On top of that, in order to appeal he would have to pony up an
incredible amount of almost half a billion dollars or his properties
might be seized. </p><p>Fortunately, the amount of that bond was
reduced. But still, it was the kind of case that was questionable to
begin with, much less with such an incredible fine that would likely be
overturned on appeal. </p><p>We saw the left flipping out over the reduction.</p><hr /><p><strong>Read:</strong><span> </span></p><p><a href="https://redstate.com/smoosieq/2024/03/25/breaking-ny-appeals-court-reduces-trump-bond-in-civil-fraud-appeal-and-extends-deadline-n2171878" id="isPasted" target="_blank" title="UPDATE: NY Appeals Court Reduces Trump Bond in Civil Fraud Appeal and Extends Deadline">UPDATE: NY Appeals Court Reduces Trump Bond in Civil Fraud Appeal and Extends Deadline</a></p><p><a href="https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2024/03/26/hot-takes-fun-liberal-meltdowns-after-trump-wins-reduction-in-bond-n2171916" id="isPasted" target="_blank" title="HOT TAKES: Priceless Liberal Meltdowns After Trump Wins Reduction in Bond ">HOT TAKES: Priceless Liberal Meltdowns After Trump Wins Reduction in Bond</a></p><p><a href="https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2024/02/19/watch-kevin-oleary-rips-355-million-decision-against-trump-says-would-never-invest-in-ny-n2170347" id="isPasted" target="_blank" title="WATCH: Kevin O'Leary Rips $355 Million Decision Against Trump, Says Would Never Invest in NY">WATCH: Kevin O'Leary Rips $355 Million Decision Against Trump, Says Would Never Invest in NY</a></p><hr /><p>Among

<p dir="ltr" id="isPasted">Now that we have the full autopsy report for
Dagney (Nex) Benedict, many of the questions surrounding her overdose
have been answered. The <a href="https://okcfox.com/news/local/nex-benedict-medical-examiner-report-released-owasso-student-16-year-old-suicide-physical-altercation-school-bathroom-oklahoma-cause-of-death-lgbtq-community-response" target="_blank">full report</a>,
released by the Chief Medical Officer and Board of Medicolegal
Investigations on March 27th, 2024, confirms what the earlier Medical
Examiner’s Office <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/13/us/nex-benedict-oklahoma-nonbinary-suicide.html?auth=login-google1tap&login=google1tap" target="_blank">reported</a>
on March 13th, 2024. There were “massive” amounts of Diphenhydramine,
more commonly known over the counter as Benadryl,” in Dagney’s blood.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Dr. Paul Wax, the Executive Director of the American
College of Toxicology, reviewed the results and confirmed she could have
consumed 50 to 100 pills to reach that toxicity level. Her routine
medication, fluoxetine, for bipolar disorder was present and may have
contributed, a second authority concluded. Her death was intentionally
self-inflicted.</p><p dir="ltr">The report indicated, “The 11 pages
released indicate handwritten notes ‘suggestive of self-harm’ were found
in Nex's room by family members, and that the teen has a history of
‘bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, self-harm (cutting).’”</p><p dir="ltr">While
advocacy groups remain insistent that her distress sourced from
bullying at school, Dagney did not indicate this in her last notes. The
Owasso Police Department released a <a href="https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/24494581/tcda-press-release-death-of-nex-benedict.pdf" target="_blank">statement</a>
saying, “Although the notes do not make any reference to the earlier
fight or difficulties at school, the parents indicated that Benedict
reported being picked upon for various reasons while at school.”</p><p dir="ltr">As is usual in these cases, there is much more to the story. A hint was provided by the <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/02/21/oklahoma-teen-lgbtq-nex-benedict-died/" target="_blank">Washington Post</a>
on February 21st, 2024, that never made it beyond that report.
Describing Dagney’s funeral, the article states that Dagney's cousin
spoke “along with her mother and Benedict. Nex’s biological mother was
among the mourners; their father, who is in prison for abuse, was not.”
That last detail may have been more impactful than realized.</p><p dir="ltr">On
July 17th, 2019, when Dagney was 11 years old, an arrest warrant was
issued for James Everette Hughes, Dagney’s father. He was arrested on
July 31st, 2019, in Sebastian County, AR. The charge was for rape of a
minor under the age of 14, during the time period between May 2017 and
August 2017, when Dagney was nine years old. Among many witnesses was
Sue Benedict, the grandmother who would adopt Dagney in 2019.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Hughes would accept a plea deal to sexual assault in the
second degree on November 27th, 2019. He was sentenced to five years in
prison with ten years suspended. He would be placed on the sex offender
list and have no contact with his daughter. He was arrested again on
January 25th, 2024, by the Little Rock Police Department for failing to
comply with reporting as a sex offender, two weeks before Dagney would
take her own life.</p><p dir="ltr">Hughes’ new case, in Pulaski County, AR, <a href="https://caseinfo.arcourts.gov/opad/case/60CR-24-894" target="_blank">60CR-24-894: State v. James Everette Hughes</a>,
was filed on March 5th, 2024 for the offense of failing to register as a
sex offender or report address change. His next court date is scheduled
for May 2nd, 2024. Hughes’ arrest record can be found here, <a href="https://caseinfo.arcourts.gov/opad/case/LRCR-24-389" target="_blank">LRCR-24-389</a>, filed on January 26th, 2024.</p><p dir="ltr">Case
details are difficult to read, and the following information is
graphic. In the report, Dagney, age 11, would tell investigators her
father anally raped her when she was nine years old. She reported he had
molested her for years prior.</p><p dir="ltr">The case details and documents can be found here, <a href="https://caseinfo.arcourts.gov/opad/case/66FCR-19-560" target="_blank">66FCR-19-560: State v. James Everette Hughes</a>, and the <a href="https://inmate.sebastiancountyar.gov/NewWorld.InmateInquiry/AR0660000/Inmate/Detail/-60994" target="_blank">Sebastian County AR Inmate Inquiry</a>. Jeremy L. Quinn, a reporter, broke the details of her father in a <a href="https://twitter.com/jeremyreporter/status/1769470567164551411" target="_blank">series of tweets</a> and <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/@jeremyreporter" target="_blank">TikTok videos</a>,
which launched this investigation into official records. He provides
additional details of family members sharing their experience, including
the recent arrest of her father.</p><p dir="ltr">The group, Bikers
Against Child Abuse, was named as a beneficiary for donations at Nex’s
funeral, as reported by Quinn and they provided a funeral procession. He
<a href="https://twitter.com/jeremyreporter/status/1769969687616803274" target="_blank">states</a>,
“A rep confirmed to me that Nex was 'a BACA kid' who would receive
support. Fellow survivors in the program get road vests, a road name,
and support other survivors.”</p>
<p dir="ltr">Quinn also provided screenshots from Dagney’s aunt, sharing
childhood photos and describing the abuse her brother committed,
disowning him.</p><p dir="ltr">Dagney, referred to as D.H. in the files,
along with her birth name and the name of a younger sibling, would be
adopted by Sue Benedict and relocated to Oklahoma to rebuild her life.
She was a survivor who endured extreme trauma from someone she was
supposed to be able to trust. Her life was upended, and she
understandably struggled greatly. Bullying from other students may have
impacted her more deeply than she let on, but from the evidence she
provided, her pain was much, much more profound.</p><p dir="ltr">Dagney,
who went by Nex, Roach and Roachie, according to her friends and social
media accounts, again provided by the research of Quinn above,
identified as gender fluid, nonbinary, two-spirited and trans. She used
they/them and he/him pronouns off and on, and her preferred identity
changed depending on her social environment — something common with many
teenagers.</p><p dir="ltr">However, despite media headlines, there is
no evidence she was specifically targeted for her gender identity. While
much of the conversation has surrounded the <a href="https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/no-charges-filed-in-nex-benedicts-death-oklahoma-district-attorney-says/ar-BB1kjPcR" target="_blank">confrontation in the bathroom</a>
with younger girls and the resulting physical injuries suffered by
everyone involved, it truly no longer matters. Alleged anti-LGBTQ
legislation or alleged anti-LGBTQ rhetoric by Republicans or
conservative figures outspoken against progressive LGBTQ activism in
schools was simply not involved.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Dagney was fighting an internal battle, suffering with
serious mental health issues, depression, and anxiety. She engaged in
self-harm, experienced mood swings, and, per her grandmother’s <a href="https://twitter.com/unlimited_ls/status/1761390572017725657" target="_blank">911 call</a>,
had to be carefully monitored for potential overdose concerns. We don’t
know if she was aware of her father’s release or his arrest in January.
Her suicide notes only tell us, from vague reporting by the police,
that her family and her personal experience influenced her decision.</p><p dir="ltr">What
we do know is she did not deserve to become an icon for a social
justice movement determined to use her name and her face to push
political outrage and policy demands. The girls she started a fight with
did not deserve to be targeted with online hatred and vile accusations
from the media, with even the President releasing a <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2024/03/14/statement-from-president-joe-biden-on-nex-benedict/" target="_blank">statement implicating them indirectly in a hate crime</a>.</p><p dir="ltr">None
of this should have happened. Her death should have remained with her
family, allowing them peace to mourn, especially considering all they
had gone through. The media took a deeply traumatized young girl and
exploited her suffering for their own political purposes, lying,
fabricating, and continuing to twist the story into a narrative they
could use to push their own agenda.</p><p dir="ltr">The truth, however,
is far more likely the result of a failed legal system, trauma,
struggles with mental health, and a young girl far too overwhelmed to
handle it all on her own, despite the brave persona she presented to the
world. We must remember her life and all she survived in context over
and above the last two days of her life. Anything else is exploitation.</p><hr /></section></div></div></div></td></tr></tbody></table>baileyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16871460861491646929noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8582383167677995765.post-6957396063029780152024-03-28T06:54:00.001-05:002024-03-28T06:54:34.664-05:00Shameless 'Journalist' Op-Ed Brags About Playing Race Card in Bridge Collapse—I Am 'Doing Precisely That'<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><img alt="Wayne Washington - Investigative Reporter - The Palm Beach Post | LinkedIn" aria-hidden="false" class="sFlh5c pT0Scc iPVvYb" src="https://media.licdn.com/dms/image/C4E03AQErgMBkOYxx8Q/profile-displayphoto-shrink_800_800/0/1517237470546?e=2147483647&v=beta&t=uMPlzuYapnpoiV0nNl5WQRLd86sLCbn26KfmhelLFVg" style="height: 337px; margin: 0px auto; max-width: 408px; width: 337px;" /></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><p>There are Blacks then there are people like this. didn’t take much imagination to see where this was going—it was an
obvious pre-game maneuver preparing for the future demand to rename the

modern leftist culture—perhaps they’ll call for the Rev. Al Sharpton
Bridge or the Hillary Clinton Crossing. Someone who is shrill, loud, and
polarizing but who has done little to actually improve the lives of
average Americans.</p><p>As many noted on X/Twitter, it won’t be long

of that matters to them; what’s more important is dividing our country.
Enter Wayne Washington, who the self-described black news website “The

unabashedly plays the race card in <a href="https://www.theroot.com/rebuild-the-francis-scott-key-bridge-in-baltimore-but-1851368486" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">a nasty op-ed</a> published to the Root’s cyberpages Wednesday. </p><p>He makes no effort to hide his divisive intent:</p><blockquote><p>I know there are those who are frothing now, pointing out that I’m “playing the race card” during this tragedy.</p><p>And my response is…yep, I am most definitely doing precisely that.</p></blockquote>
<p>There you have it; neither shame nor decency seems to be in his dictionary. Only pushing hate between the races.</p><p>He trashes Francis Scott Key’s legacy and says that his 200-year-old mores are worthy of permanent cancellation. Key has a <a href="https://www.thebaltimorebanner.com/community/francis-scott-key-the-paradox-was-he-for-or-against-freeing-enslaved-black-citizens-OCZAOOB6IRDONAKIZITHFSACVE/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">paradoxical past</a>,
that’s true; he went on record opposing the practice of slavery, but
it’s undeniable that he also owned some. Yet what does that have to do
with a cargo ship slamming into a bridge in 2024?</p><p>These names should be considered for the future bridge, argues Washington. </p><blockquote><p>So, when the new bridge spans the Patapsco [River], name it something other than the Key Bridge.</p><p>Lots
of Americans — hell, lots of Marylanders — are far more worthy of the
honor. Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass immediately come to mind.</p><p>Hell, we don’t even have to go back that far. What about Thurgood Marshall? Or the late congressman, Elijah Cummings?</p></blockquote><p>Wait,
what? The only decent Marylanders that should be considered for the
honor are black Americans? The implication is that obviously white
people should not even be looked at. </p><p>It’s so tiring—and yet so
predictable—that leftists try to divide us along racial lines at every
opportunity. A horrific bridge catastrophe? Forget the dead people,
let’s talk about racism!</p><p>"If, after this tragedy, we can focus on
the urgent need to turn away from spit-in-the-face insults to Black
Americans," he continues, "count me in on some of that." Wayne,
newsflash: we are not at the point where we are "after" this tragedy; we
are still right smack in the middle of it. Can't you have the decency
to wait until at least we have the bodies recovered before you shove
your racial polemic down our throats? </p>
<p>Wasn’t Obama supposed to bring us a post-racial nation? It seems to
me that he and his legacy have brought us nothing but outrage and a
permanent distrust of each other among a citizenry that had been moving
closer to unity and equality (not “equity”) before his arrival on the
scene.</p><p>Washington’s words—and the AP’s—show a complete lack of
empathy for the souls who perished at the bottom of the Patapsco River
and a narcissistic obsession in reliving the past of two centuries ago. </p><p>None
of this does anything to improve the America of 2024, and yet, here we
are, and a writer is proud of race-baiting in the midst of
misfortune—"playing the race card... yep, I am most definitely doing
precisely that."</p><p>This is progress?</p>

<p id="isPasted">Did the ladies of The View do their homework before
inviting Coleman Hughes onto the show? Because Mr. Hughes doesn’t spew
left-wing talking points, he says he calls ‘a spade, a spade,’ and he’s
very much opposed to the race-baiting that progressives find themselves
hopelessly addicted to. Hughes, who obviously views Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. as one of his heroes, argues in his book “The End of Race
Politics: Arguments for a Colorblind America” that we should treat
everyone without regard to race in public policy and life. It’s giving
the “content of your character” axiom a reboot, something that the
progressive Left is chipping away. </p>
<p>Hughes, like other non-woke liberals, noted that the recognition of
progress must be comprehended for us to move forward as a society. ‘Woke
kindergarten’ in San Francisco was used as an example of regression in
this segment. He also said something that will irritate race-obsessed
liberals to no end: policies aimed at addressing disadvantaged in class
socioeconomics is the path forward. Non-whites are disproportionately
part of the working poor, so policies aimed at enhancing the lives of
those in these income brackets will help blacks, Hispanics, <em>and</em>
poor whites. Citing Dr. King again, Hughes said this agenda is grounded
in the late civil rights leader’s call for a Bill of Rights for the
Disadvantaged. </p><p>Whether you agree with Hughes or not, this segment
has more sense than anything this show had broadcasted in over a
decade. It wasn’t woke-left insanity. And because it wasn’t, Sunny
Hostin quietly seethed in her seat, accusing Hughes of being a pawn of
the conservative movement. Hughes said he wasn’t a Republican—and he’s
not. He voted for Biden in 2020. The guest quietly dismantled Hostin’s
shoddy counterpoints while adding, with class, that her ad hominem
attacks are part of the regression seen in race discussions (via <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/sunny-hostin-accuses-black-author-arguing-colorblind-america-being-used-pawn-right" target="_blank">Fox News</a>): </p> <div>

<blockquote><p>"I don’t think I’ve been co-opted by anyone. I’ve only
voted twice — both for Democrats. I’m an independent," Coleman said. "I
would vote for a Republican — probably a non-Trump Republican if they
were compelling. I don’t think there’s any evidence I’ve been co-opted
by anyone and I think that’s an ad-hominem tactic people use to not
address, really, the important conversations we’re having here." </p><p>Hughes writes for The Free Press and is an analyst on CNN. He told Hostin, "No one is paying me to say what I'm saying." </p><p>"The
reason I wrote this book is because, in the past 10 years, it has
become to, in the name of anti-racism, teach a kind of philosophy to our
children, in general, that says your race is everything," he said at
the beginning of the segment. "And I think that is the wrong way to
fight racism and that's why I wrote this book at this time." </p></blockquote><p>And,
of course, some race-obsessed dolt like Hostin will find his book
flawed: that’s the reaction that every left-winger has when they read
things that make sense. There are certainly criticisms in Hughes’ book,
but I’d rather hear this man and read his material than be yelled at by
these freaks with blue hair. </p><p>Anything that seeks to unite our
society and move forward as a whole is seen as a form of race betrayal
by some. The Left has an incessant need to cookie-cutter social groups,
enhance differences, and make them incongruous pieces because disunity
keeps the woke movement alive. We’re seeing the consequences of this
trend in public policy areas like public safety, which has become a
total trainwreck. Everyone wants to be safe, but these clowns have
targeted common sense laws, <em>like going to jail for committing violent acts</em>
and using pseudointellectual nonsense to make law and order a race
issue. It’s led to bail reform insanity and violent criminals exploiting
the new system. Given the conditions in some cities, it almost makes me
wish the League of Shadows existed. </p>
<p>Hughes could have easily assailed Hostin as having a myopic view on
bringing change, but that would have been too easy an exercise. We all
probably disagree with this man on 90-plus percent of the issues, but we
can have a discussion with a liberal, independent like Hughes. </p><p>Also, yes, he works for CNN, and <a href="https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2024/01/04/a-cnn-host-tried-to-bait-a-guest-into-playing-the-race-card-on-claudine-gay-it-turned-out-poorly-n2633205" target="_blank">they tried to race-bait him</a> when Claudine Gay resigned from Harvard over her plagiarism scandal. court hearing on Wednesday regarding President Joe Biden’s son’s felony
tax indictment.</p>
<p>In January, Hunter entered a not guilty plea to six misdemeanors and
three felony counts related to tax evasion, filing a false return, and
not paying taxes from 2016 to 2019. </p>
<p>In court filings last month, he argued that the case was “politically
motivated” and that it was tainted by two IRS agents who later went on
to become whistleblowers. He is now pleading with the judge to dismiss
the case.</p>
<blockquote>
<p>“Since its inception in 2018, the investigation of Mr. Biden has been
compromised by politics. This case follows a nearly six-year record of
DOJ changing its charging decisions and upping the ante on Mr. Biden in
direct response to political pressure and its own self-interests,”
attorneys for the president’s son wrote. “When the prosecution brings
charges for purposes unrelated to legitimate prosecutorial
considerations, it violates due process and equal protection rights.” </p>
</blockquote>
<p>Additionally, Hunter’s lawyers claimed that the case should be
dropped since the two IRS agents who were assigned to his case allegedly
engaged in “outrageous government conduct.” </p>
<p>According to a court document, the IRS employees later turned into
informants who collaborated with the House GOP’s investigation into the
president’s son.</p>
<blockquote>
<p>“The government’s actions in this case are beyond egregious; the
agents continuously disobeyed supervisors and flagrantly disregarded
numerous federal statutes and rules designed to prevent the very abuse
the agents were undertaking,” Biden’s lawyers argued.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Prosecutors have pushed back on the claim that the case was
politically motivated in the subsequent court filings, calling it a
“fictitious narrative.” </p>
<blockquote>
<p>“From this fairly unremarkable set of procedural events, the
defendant concocts a conspiracy theory that the prosecution has ‘upped
the ante’ to appease politicians who have absolutely nothing to do with
the prosecution and are not even members of the current Executive
Branch,” prosecutors wrote.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Judge Mark Scarsi will preside over the hearing on the outcome of his
tax charges, which is scheduled to begin on Wednesday at 4 p.m. </p>
<p>As a result of Special Counsel David Weiss’s investigation, Hunter is
facing two cases, the California tax case and three gun-related charges
in Delaware, to which he has pleaded not guilty. </p>
<p>After a plea agreement between him and the prosecution collapsed last year, he entered a not guilty plea as well. </p>

<blockquote>
<p>“Avenatti was working a long con against Tully’s Coffee and actor

Tully’s coffee chain that was founded by Michael Avenatti, had agreed to

use my trademark attorney Rod Underhill to take control of the Tully’s
Coffee name and trademarks. I learned later it was yet another attempt
to extort money from Keurig Green Mountain.”</p>
</blockquote>
<blockquote>
<p>“In any case, Avenatti shared details of his client Stormy Daniels,
whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, case and the fact that her and
Michael Cohen were actually having an affair since 2006.”</p>
</blockquote>

<p>Republican presumptive nominee Donald Trump
panned former Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel's quick
exit from "Fake News NBC" on Tuesday, while ripping network executives
for being "weak," "broken," and "highly overpaid."</p>
<p>McDaniel lasted four days and made just one appearance — on Sunday's
"Meet The Press" — after NBC announced it had hired her as an on-air
political contributor to bring a conservative viewpoint. But after days
of being browbeaten on air by his own talent, NBCUniversal News Group
Chair Cesar Conde conceded defeat Tuesday night and announced he had
parted ways with McDaniel.</p>
<p>McDaniel joined NBC News after resigning as RNC chair earlier this month.</p>
<p>"Wow! Ronna McDaniel got fired by Fake News NBC. She only lasted two
days, and this after McDaniel went out of her way to say what they
wanted to hear. It leaves her in a very strange place, it's called NEVER
NEVERLAND, and it's not a place you want to be," Trump said in a <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/112164618833623869" rel="nofollow noskim" target="_blank">post</a> to Truth Social.</p>
<p>He then turned his attention to the network itself.</p>
<p>"These Radical Left Lunatics are Crazy, and the top people at NBC are
weak. They were Broken and Embarrassed by Low Ratings, Highly Overpaid,

<p>Axios <a href="https://www.axios.com/2024/03/26/nbc-news-ronna-mcdaniel-commentator" rel="nofollow noskim" target="_blank">reported</a>
that McDaniel was exploring legal options if NBC did, in fact,
terminate her contract, which would have paid her $300,000 per year, The
New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/26/business/media/ronna-mcdaniel-nbc-msnbc.html" rel="nofollow noskim" target="_blank">reported.</a></p>
<p>The Times also reported that McDaniel found out she was terminated from news reports before she heard from NBC.</p>
<p>In his staff-wide memo, Conde wrote, "I want to personally apologize
to our team members who felt we let them down," according to the Times.</p>
<p>"After listening to the legitimate concerns of many of you, I have
decided that Ronna McDaniel will not be an NBC News contributor," Conde
wrote.</p>

<p>Leave it to "60 Minutes" to bring on the leader of a "misinformation
research group" and then fail to disclose all the pertinent details of
her background. The left-wing news program was caught red-handed when it
was revealed that Kate Starbird isn't actually an unbiased arbiter of
truth and fiction. </p>
<p>The background of this story involves the following interview, in
which Starbird and "60 Minutes'" Lesley Stahl complain that X (formerly
Twitter) wasn't at their beck and call to censor content they deem to be
"misinformation." </p><hr /><p><em><a href="https://redstate.com/sister-toldjah/2022/03/18/ted-cruz-taunts-60-minutes-with-infamous-trump-stahl-pre-election-clip-as-media-reckoning-begins-n537724" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">RELATED: Ted Cruz Taunts '60 Minutes' With Infamous Trump-Stahl Pre-Election Clip </a></em></p><hr /><p>What
is with left-wing operatives and taking their style cues from Rachel
Maddow? All that's missing is a streak of purple in her hair.
Regardless, on the merits, what Starbird says is derived from either
dishonesty or stupidity. </p><p>To clarify, Community Notes on X is not run by the social media company itself. As the name suggests, <em>users</em>
of the platform suggest notes, and only notes with enough consensus are
placed on posts to add context or offer a correction. There is no
system whereby self-proclaimed "misinformation researchers" get to
"flag" posts and then have their commentary added on demand by the
powers that be. </p><p>So is Starbird lying about the Community Notes
system or is she just ignorant of how it works? Either way, the fact
that she's complaining on "60 Minutes" about it as an "expert" does
nothing for her credibility. Sure enough, it has now been <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2024/03/25/60-minutes-failed-disclose-misinformation-researcher-millions-grants-donated-biden/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">revealed</a> that Starbird is actually a Joe Biden donor who has received grants from his administration <em>and </em>worked with the DHS on censoring so-called "misinformation."</p>
<p>Shock of shocks, "60 Minutes" "forgot" to mention that in their report.</p><blockquote><p id="isPasted">CBS’
“60 Minutes” failed to disclose that a prominent “misinformation”
researcher it featured on its Sunday program received funding and
collaborated with President Joe Biden’s administration.</p><p>University of Washington professor and researcher <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2021/07/13/aspen-institute-disinformation-commission/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Kate Starbird</a> was featured on the <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/video/60minutes-2024-03-24/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">program</a>
about “misinformation” proliferating on social media. Starbird
spearheaded a project that Biden’s National Science Foundation (NSF) <a href="https://ischool.uw.edu/news/2021/08/225-million-nsf-funding-will-support-center-informed-public-research" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">granted</a> $2.25
million in 2021, and the researcher collaborated with the Department of
Homeland Security (DHS) by serving on an advisory <a href="https://www.cisa.gov/sites/default/files/publications/CSAC_Factsheet_5-19-22_508c.pdf" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">committee</a> under its Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), which CBS did not mention.</p></blockquote><p>Far
from an unbiased observer, Starbird is a hack who targets information
she doesn't like and labels it "misinformation." Worse, she's receiving
taxpayer money to do so while serving on DHS boards. "60 Minutes" didn't
want that to be known, though, and instead made it seem as if Rep. Jim
Jordan (R-OH), who has criticized her, was unfairly targeting a random
citizen.</p><p>The mainstream press wants to live in a dictatorship so
badly. They just want it to be a dictatorship run by people they approve
of. There is no role for "misinformation researchers" to censor online
speech based on the words of faux "experts" like Starbird. Just as
absurd is a show like "60 Minutes" pretending to be an authority despite
its own history of <a href="https://redstate.com/bonchie/2023/01/02/60-minutes-casually-promotes-genocidal-ideology-n682200" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">spreading misinformation</a>. </p>
<p>This isn't complicated. People should be allowed to say what they
want, and self-appointed elites should not be curators. Starbird is
nothing but a leech, suckling at the government teat to push a political
agenda, and "60 Minutes" remains a joke for not being honest about her
background. </p>

<p id="isPasted">Well, that didn’t take long. The Key Bridge <a href="https://redstate.com/jenvanlaar/2024/03/26/baltimore-bridge-collapse-n2171921" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">collapsed</a>
in Baltimore early Tuesday after being struck by a cargo ship, and the
bodies of all the victims have not even been recovered yet. The <a href="https://redstate.com/streiff/2024/03/26/will-baltimore-survive-the-closing-of-its-port-n2171948" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">economic catastrophe</a>
now facing Baltimore will certainly last months, but it has the
potential to harm the region for years. Grieving families are still
processing the loss of their loved ones even as investigators try to
piece together what happened. </p>
<p>Yet the Associated Press thought now would be a good time to bring up
the history of the bridge’s namesake—"Star-Spangled Banner” lyricist
Francis Scott Key—and <a href="https://apnews.com/article/maryland-bridge-collapse-francis-scott-key-e9ff2dcc76bae8444f83c15a656a50f1?taid=6602fdec2ced4900012f4c4c&utm_campaign=TrueAnthem&utm_medium=AP&utm_source=Twitter" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">drag up his ties to slavery</a>.
Because what better time than in the aftermath of a horrific accident
is there to try to make the story about racism when it has absolutely
nothing to do with race?</p><p>That’s our laughingstock national press today, folks.</p><hr /><p><strong>See:</strong></p><p><a href="https://redstate.com/jenvanlaar/2024/03/26/baltimore-bridge-collapse-n2171921" target="_blank" title="UPDATE: Six Presumed Dead in Baltimore Bridge Collapse, Search and Rescue Efforts Suspended"><em>UPDATE: Six Presumed Dead in Baltimore Bridge Collapse, Search and Rescue Efforts Suspended</em></a></p><p><a href="https://redstate.com/streiff/2024/03/26/will-baltimore-survive-the-closing-of-its-port-n2171948" target="_blank"><em>Will Baltimore Survive the Closing of Its Port?</em></a></p><hr /><p>The AP framed its story as just a little background piece about Key:</p><blockquote data-twitter-extracted-i1711539526099238916="true"><p dir="ltr" lang="en">Who was Francis Scott Key, whose namesake bridge fell? His poem became 'The Star-Spangled Banner' <a href="https://t.co/Y5tMA75Dob" target="_blank">https://t.co/Y5tMA75Dob</a></p>— The Associated Press (@AP) <a href="https://twitter.com/AP/status/1772668620662813109?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" target="_blank">March 26, 2024</a></blockquote><p>Fair
enough. Not most people’s particular concern at the moment as the
recovery efforts continue, but hey, AP, you do you. They detail the
circumstances under which Key wrote the Star-Spangled Banner, which
became our national anthem—but it’s at the end that they get to the real
reason they wrote the article: Key’s association with slavery is
evidently important to the story of a cargo ship crashing into a bridge
over two centuries later.</p><blockquote>While the first verse of the
anthem is the most well-known, there are a total of four stanzas; in the
third, there’s a reference made to a slave. Key, whose family owned
people and who owned enslaved people himself, supported the idea of
sending free Black people to Africa but opposed the abolition of slavery
in the U.S., according to the National Park Service’s Fort McHenry
National Monument and Historic Shrine.<p>His personal history has made
him a controversial figure in some quarters; in June 2020, a statue of
him in San Francisco was taken down.</p></blockquote>
<p>Go ahead and say it, Associated Press: the bridge probably deserved what it got. That’s the point of your story, admit it.</p><p>I’m
not saying Key’s past should be glossed over; historians are absolutely
free to discuss it—but what I am saying is this is 100 percent not the
time to delve into it. The survivors and the families of those who
perished certainly aren’t focused on that, and neither are the millions
of empathetic Americans watching the tragedy unfold and feeling for
those affected. </p><p>Post 9/11, do you remember any stories in the immediate aftermath about <a href="https://aecom.com/ar/projects/logan-international-airport/" target="_blank">Lt. General Edward Lawrence Logan</a>,
a Spanish-American war hero from South Boston? I certainly don’t.
Boston’s Logan Airport, where the 9/11 attackers boarded the planes that
eventually crashed into the Twin Towers, is named after him. Yet
somehow, journalists and readers thought the 3,000-plus deaths and the
collapse of our iconic towers was the story of the day, not who the
freakin’ airport was named after. That, and they evidently couldn't use
his background to incite racial animus, so the press didn’t bother.</p><p>I’d
love to believe that some enterprising reporter thought to themselves,
“Hmm, this is a terrible tragedy; I could write a background story on
this bridge and relate the history of our national anthem.” But I don’t
believe that for a second (most "journalists" despise the Star-Spangled
Banner)—I believe the writer went, “Oh! There’s a racial angle. Let’s
hit it pronto despite the fact that it has nothing to do with anything!”</p>
<p>Because sadly, that’s how they roll these days.</p><p>Unfortunately,
this isn't the only attempt by leftists to force-feed politics into this
story. Here's former California Assemblyman Mike Gatto's

<p id="isPasted">Unfortunately, I’m not surprised that this was embedded
into the coding of NHL 24. The clip posted by Libs of TikTok shows a
user trying to play a game but was unable to proceed as it said his team
name selection contained profanity. The name of the team that triggered
this censorship prompt: 'Team Trump.' When ‘Team Biden’ was punched in
before the puck dropped, there were no problems.</p>
<p>It’s a level of bias you’d expect as more woke minions enter the
workforce. Unlike past generations, the latest wave of progressives
don’t mellow as they age. They’re culture warriors, determined to
re-educate and transform their workspaces at all costs to be on the
right side of history. It’s made a mess of the media establishment,
where even notable liberals feel targeted and harassed for not taking a
hardcore Leninist approach to certain issues. Bari Weiss fleeing The New
York Times is a notable example.</p><p>I can understand slight
censorship concerning team names. On Fanatics, you can’t make custom
jerseys with profanity, but blocking the former president's name? C’mon.
I can get not letting certain four-letter words through the filter, but
this is outrageous, but again, not shocking. It would be something if
‘Team Putin’ or ‘Team ISIS’ were permitted.</p> <div>

<p id="isPasted">How did the Central Intelligence Agency get threaded
into the Hunter Biden scandal? We don’t know, but they interfered with
federal investigators looking into Hunter Biden's activities. A
whistleblower has come forward alleging that Langley blocked
investigators from interviewing attorney Kevin Morris, who is not just a
crucial Hunter Biden ally but the primary purchaser of his overpriced
art. Mr. Morris paid Hunter’s tax bills, helped subsidize his opulent
lifestyle, and seemingly had the protection of the CIA. </p>
<p>Morris is a big Democratic Party donor, so protection from the Biden
Department of Justice wouldn’t be unusual, but the CIA? Mr. Morris
appears to be a jack-of-all-trades character within the Biden orbit. Law
professor Jonathan Turley, who disclosed that he was threatened with a
lawsuit by Morris, broke down this intriguing tale. Morris was not just a
money man for the crack-cocaine-addicted son of the president, he was
also an attack dog, reportedly organizing hit campaigns against the
enemies of the Biden family. Look, when someone loans your son over $6
million, you better believe there’s going to be some ironclad
protections for that individual (via <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/hunter-biden-kevin-morris-5-million-loans/" target="_blank">Turley</a>): </p><blockquote><p>The
New York Post has created a stir in Washington with its report that a
whistleblower claims that the CIA reportedly blocked federal
investigators from interviewing Kevin Morris, the entertainment lawyer
who has subsidized the expenses and bought the art of Hunter Biden. </p><p>[…] </p><p>He’s Hunter’s confidant, art patron, business partner, and his lawyer. </p><p>Now there is a suggestion that we might have to add CIA asset or protected person. </p><p>The
unnamed whistleblower told the House Oversight and Judiciary Committee
that the “intelligence agency stopped IRS and Justice Department
investigators from interviewing Morris in August 2021.” That has led
Oversight chairman James Comer (R-KY) and Judiciary chairman Jim Jordan
(R-OH) to demand answers from the CIA on whether two DOJ officials were
summoned to CIA headquarters in Langley, Va. to discourage their
interviewing Morris. </p><p>Given the allegations of special treatment
by the Justice Department (including blocking efforts to interview
Hunter or search Biden properties), this latest report is obviously
quite serious. One would expect that the CIA would simply say that no
such meeting related to the Hunter Biden investigation occurred.
Instead, the agency responded that it “does not obstruct
investigations.” The spokesman added “CIA does not comment on specific
investigations. We can say that CIA cooperates with law enforcement
partners and does not obstruct investigations. CIA also fully and
routinely cooperates with our oversight committees and will continue to
do so.” </p><p>Hunter met Morris when he attended a political fundraiser as a major donor. </p><p>Soon
thereafter, he warned Biden associates that Hunter’s unpaid taxes
raised political problems during Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential run. </p><p>He later proceeded to pay off Hunter’s taxes and to subsidize his lavish lifestyle. </p><p>He
also took an apparent lead in planning public campaigns against the
critics of the Bidens, reportedly pushing a scorched-earth approach to
attack potential witnesses and accusers. </p><p>[…] </p><p>Most
recently, it was revealed that, despite accounts of buyers flocking to
buy Hunter’s overpriced art, it was Morris all along who bought most of
the pieces. </p><p>How the CIA would fit into any of this is anyone’s guess. </p></blockquote>
<p>Turley adds that before we can delve into this alleged spy web into
the Bidens, the Justice Department should verify whether Morris was an
intelligence asset, as this has been done many times before during the
Russian collusion hoax. The law professor noted that if confirmation is
obtained, it doesn’t mean the whistleblower’s account is true. Still,
the CIA should disclose that they’re not meddling in domestic legal
issues involving the president’s son. Anything to the contrary would be a
scandal and yet another example of the Biden administration skirting
the rules in ways that would make the Clintons blush. </p><p>The
Department of Justice meddled in the IRS investigation into Hunter
Biden. Would you be shocked if the anti-Trump spook community, which has
been running interference for Democrats for years, opted to block
federal investigators from interviewing Mr. Morris, who is the Swiss
Army Knife for all things Hunter?</p>

Annemarie Wiley was fired for reportedly voicing her own conservative
political opinions on the show. </p>
<p>Advertisement</p><p><b><a href="http://bllsbailey.tumblr.com"><span style="font-size: medium;">bllsbailey.tumblr.com</span></a></b> </p>
<p>Last Thursday, Wiley announced her departure from RHOBH, where she
maintained that viewers did not get to see “the real” her. Wiley also
expressed that leaving the show was not her decision, but she did not
give much explanation as to why. </p>
<p>However, according to a report by the <em>Daily Mail, </em>an insider
source close to Wiley revealed that “a cast member having polarizing
views and the ladies taking her to task would have been part of a juicy
storyline on any Real Housewives franchise, but after politics
railroaded season 13 of the New York cast, producers just edited all of
those segments out of the Beverly Hills season.”</p>
<p>The report continued, stating that producers purportedly cut
political scenes from the Beverly Hills series, leaving viewers in the
dark as to why Wiley’s real housewife appearances were so abruptly
terminated.</p>
<p>The 41-year-old and her co-star, Crystal Kung-Minkoff, reportedly had consistent disputes about politics.</p>
<p>According to the source, Wiley and Kung-Minkoff: “were at odds all
season over Annemarie misrepresenting she was a doctor, but Annemarie’s
politics really disgusted Crystal even more.”</p>
<blockquote>
<p>“The Chinese-American openly struggled to understand why a woman of
color would be aligned with Trump, who has made racist comments about
various nationalities and colors,” the source continued. </p>
</blockquote>
<blockquote>
<p>“One of the few things Annemarie didn’t lie about during the taping
of the show was her political beliefs,” the source continued. “She was
open and proud to be Team MAGA and a staunch Donald Trump supporter.”</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Wiley also reportedly came under fire after a controversial post by her husband, Marcellus Wiley, was made public. </p>
<blockquote>
<p>“I have no issue with transgenders, but I do have an issue with
athletes who are transgender women trying to compete against biological
women. Not against the Wiley Women!” the post said. “Why can’t the dudes
who transition to women actually empower women by competing against
men?”</p>
</blockquote>
<p>According to the source, “Annemarie was hyper-defensive while
defending her husband Marcellus Wiley’s controversial social media views
on politics and transgender athletes. It was the biggest turnoff to the
ladies.”</p>
<p>The source continued, stating that Garcelle Beauvais said that she
was “disgusted” to learn that Annemarie was a fan of “political
conspiracy theorist Candace Owens” during the reunion taping and that
this revealed “everything she needed to know” about Annemarie.</p>
<p>However, RHOBH producers made the decision to edit out the scenes.</p>
<blockquote>
<p>“The cast feels as though there’s no need to keep her on the show if
producers aren’t going to let the audience see the real Annemarie,” the
source said. “If it’s not going to be shown on camera, they don’t want
to work with someone who has such off-putting personal and political
views.”</p>

significant negative impact on food brands’ bottom lines when it goes
into effect in April, a slew of fast-food restaurants in California are
now beginning to fire employees and raise prices.</p>
<p>According to <em>The Wall Street Journal</em>, fast food restaurants,
particularly pizza chains, and even higher-end food establishments have
started to reduce staff in an effort to prepare for potential financial
consequences.</p>
<p>Pizza Hut driver Michael Ojeda, 29, of Ontario, California, told the
press that he was notified in December by Pizza Hut franchisee Southern
California Pizza that his last day of employment would be at the end of
February.</p>
<blockquote>
<p>“Pizza Hut was my career for nearly a decade, and with little to no notice, it was taken away,” Ojeda said.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>A handful of California-based Pizza Hut locations also announced last
year that they were ending their delivery services in order to comply
with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.</p>
<p>Southern California Pizza Co. said in December that it was laying off
about 841 drivers statewide. Pizza Hut outlets in Los Angeles, Orange,
San Bernardino, Riverside, and Ventura counties will be impacted most by
the changes, sources say.</p>
<blockquote>
<p>“Where select California franchisees have elected to make changes to
their staffing approach, access to delivery service will continue to be
available via Pizza Hut’s mobile app, website, and phone ordering, and
the customer ordering experience will remain consistent,” a Pizza Hut
spokesperson told the press.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>According to a <em>Journal </em>article, Menlo Park, California-based
Round Table Pizza said that it will be firing at least 73 delivery
drivers this year as well. Excalibur Pizza LLC similarly stated that the
majority of the workers being let go from its business are also
delivery drivers.</p>
<blockquote>
<p>“The franchisee is transferring their delivery services to a third
party. While it is unfortunate, we look at this as a transfer of jobs,”
the statement said. “As you know, many California restaurant operators
are following the same approach due to rising operating costs. We
anticipate third-party delivery providers in turn will see a boost in
their businesses, which will require additional staff on their end.”</p>
</blockquote>
<p><a data-id="https://www.fatbrands.com/" data-type="link" href="https://www.fatbrands.com/" rel="noreferrer noopener" role="link" target="_blank">Fat Brands Inc.</a>,
another large company that owns restaurants like Johnny Rockets, Hot
Dog On A Stick, Fatburger, and Round Table Pizza, stated that the change
may result in much higher delivery costs and higher prices for
customers in general. </p>
<p>Brian Hom, who owns two Vitality Bowls restaurants in San Jose,
California, said that he staffs his establishments with just two people
rather than the customary four. Customers will now have to wait longer
for service due to a staffing shortfall, and prices will rise to offset
the higher labor expenses.</p>
<blockquote>
<p>“I’m definitely not going to hire anymore,” he told reporters. </p>
</blockquote>
<p>Employees of fast food franchises with 60 or more locations around the U.S. are affected by the Newsom-approved wage law.</p>
<p>Additionally, contrary to what critics claim, many fast food business
employees are not just teenagers who are working their first jobs. Many
of them are hard-working mothers and fathers who have mouths to feed,
so being fired from a job due to a statewide minimum wage hike is not
ideal in any circumstance. </p>
<blockquote>
<p>“Restaurants are struggling to stay above water, and Democrats just
threw them an anvil,” said California Assembly Republican official James
Gallagher. “We warned Democrats this new mandate would cost jobs. They
ignored us, and here we are with the highest unemployment rate in the
country, poised to get even worse.”</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Chains that bake and prepare bread in-house to sell as a stand-alone menu item are excluded from the new regulation. </p>
<blockquote>
<p>“California is home to more than 500,000 fast-food workers who, for
decades, have been fighting for higher wages and better working
conditions. Today, we take one step closer to fairer wages, safer and
healthier working conditions, and better training by giving hardworking
fast-food workers a stronger voice and seat at the table,” Governor
Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) said.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>However, Newsom failed to explain that a good portion of these
employees would be cut from the work force and that prices would begin
to climb higher and higher, putting many companies out of business.</p>

<p><em><strong>UPDATE, 6:45 AM EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME</strong></em></p><p>Baltimore
officials held a press conference to give updates on search and rescue
efforts after the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.</p>
<p>The first rescue units arrived on the scene 20 minutes after the
collapse and were able to rescue two people immediately. One of the
survivors was unharmed and refused transport to the hospital, while the
other was taken to a trauma center and is in critical condition. </p><p>Baltimore
City Fire Chief James Wallace said that the operation is still very
much an active search-and-rescue effort and those efforts have not
shifted to recovery. At the time of the briefing, Wallace said they are
looking for "upwards of seven" people in the water, but stressed that
the number is based on current information and that number is fluid.</p><p>Wallace
said that multiple air assets from the Maryland State Police and the
Baltimore Police Department were among those searching, and multiple
marine assets from agencies in the region are involved. SONAR,
underwater UAVs, and infrared technology are being utilized both from
the air and from the water surface to attempt to locate people in the
water.</p><p>Chief Wallace said that sonar has detected the presence of
vehicles submerged in the water, but he does not have a definite number
of vehicles in the water. He has heard reports that there was
construction work occurring on the bridge at the time of the collapse
but they have not confirmed that.</p><p>Over the next 8 to 12 hours,
Wallace said, officials will be able to board the ship and assess the
damage to the ship and the ability to move it, and speak to the crew
members about what happened in the moments before the crash. The ship's
crew members are still on the ship. Officials say there is no evidence
of fuel leaking from the ship at this time.</p>
<p><strong><em>UPDATE, 6:00 AM EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME</em></strong></p><p>A
State of Emergency has been declared in Maryland as the state "attempts
to assess and respond to the tragedy," and Secretary of Transportation
Pete Buttigieg <a href="https://twitter.com/SecretaryPete/status/1772551277441888348" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">tweeted</a> that he had already spoken to Gov. Wes Moore and Mayor Brandon Scott and offered federal support.</p><p>The <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/03/26/us/baltimore-bridge-collapse/56f9f17b-b611-5025-bc01-ee3dace582da?smid=url-share" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">New York Times is reporting</a>
that the owners of the ship that hit the bridge, the Singapore-flagged
Dali, "confirmed in an emailed statement that the vessel had hit one of
the pillars of the Francis Scott Key Bridge around 1:30 a.m. Eastern.
All crew members, including two pilots onboard, were accounted for and
there were no injuries on the ship," and that the owners say they and
the vessel's managers are cooperating with authorities.</p><p>Baltimore
Fire Department authorities told CNN that it appeared that construction
workers were on the bridge at the time it collapsed; that could be what
the number of individuals potentially in the water is based on.</p><p>Fox
News is reporting that local officials are saying that the accident
scene isn't safe for rescue workers due to cargo hanging from the
bridge.</p>
<p>A news conference was originally set for 5:45 AM, but has been moved to 6:15 AM Eastern.</p><p>Baltimore news station WBAL's livestream can be found here: <a href="https://www.wbaltv.com/nowcast" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://www.wbaltv.com/nowcast</a></p><p><em><strong>UPDATE, 4:45 AM EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME</strong></em></p><p>Kevin

CNN, saying, "We understand that there was up to 20 individuals who may
be in the Patapsco River right now, as well as multiple vehicles. We
have a mass casualty, multi-agency incident underway." Dive teams from
the BFD and other agencies are in the water searching for those people.</p><p>The
bridge collapsed on top of the ship. Cartrwright said that the US Coast
Guard is "in the process of establishing contact with the vessel" to
determine how many injured people are on that ship and more about what
type of cargo was on the ship and any mechanical issues that might have
occurred before the collision. </p><p>Cartwright said that the air temperature at the time of his update was around 30 degrees.</p><p><span><span><img src="https://media.townhall.com/cdn/hodl/rs/images/up/2024/86/f1657a4d-ef79-4d78-902b-d9c56167e007.jpg" /><span>CREDIT: Andrew Doyle</span></span></span></p><p><em><strong>ORIGINAL STORY</strong></em></p><p>The
Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland collapsed after a large
container ship crashed into one of its supports just before 1:30 AM
Eastern Daylight Time. An unknown number of vehicles and possibly a
tractor-trailer went into the Patapsco River as a result of the
collapse. As of 3 AM Baltimore time, officials were searching for seven
people in the water.</p>
<p>The collapse, which happened almost immediately after the collision, was captured by the bridge's live cam.</p><p>The
live cam footage isn't extremely clear, but it looks like there could
have been an explosion when the ship struck the bridge support.</p><p>From the <a href="https://www.baltimoresun.com/2024/03/26/key-bridge-collapses-into-patapsco/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Baltimore Sun</a>:</p><blockquote><p id="isPasted">A

Defends Abortion Pill Access at Supreme Court<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" class="BLOG_video_class" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ufS3TzIJmH0" width="320" youtube-src-id="ufS3TzIJmH0"></iframe></div><br /><p></p><div class="content">

<p>The Supreme Court on Tuesday is poised to
consider whether to restrict access to the abortion pill as President
Joe Biden's administration fights to maintain broad access to the
medication in a major case that thrusts reproductive rights back on the
agenda of the justices in a presidential election year.</p>
<p>Arguments are set for 10 a.m. ET in the Biden administration's appeal
of a lower court's ruling that would limit how the medication, called
mifepristone, is prescribed and distributed. Four medical associations
and four doctors who oppose abortion brought the challenge to
mifepristone in Texas.</p>
<p>The Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) regulatory changes at risk
in the case include allowing for medication abortions at up to 10 weeks
of pregnancy instead of seven, and for mail delivery of the drug without
a woman first seeing a clinician in-person.</p>
<p>The Supreme Court, which has a 6-3 conservative majority, in 2022
overturned its 1973 Roe v. Wade precedent that had recognized a
constitutional right to abortion, prompting numerous states to enact
Republican-backed measures banning or sharply restricting the procedure.
Since then, medication abortion has become the most common method of
ending pregnancies in the United States, now accounting for more than
60% of abortions.</p>
<p>The justices are reviewing an August decision by the New
Orleans-based 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that faulted the FDA's
decisions in 2016 and 2021 to ease access to mifepristone. The case
could put at risk the regulatory authority of the FDA over drug safety.</p>
<p>Mifepristone is taken with another drug called misoprostol to perform medication abortions.</p>
<p>The FDA gave mifepristone regulatory approval in 2000. It has said
that after decades of use by millions of women in the United States and
around the world, mifepristone has proven "extremely safe," and that
"study after study" has shown that "serious adverse events are
exceedingly rare."</p>
<p>The plaintiffs, led by the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, contend
that the FDA acted contrary to its mandate to ensure medications are
safe in easing the restrictions on mifepristone, violating a federal law
governing the actions of regulatory agencies.</p>
<p>The justices are also tasked with determining whether the plaintiffs
had the proper legal standing to bring the litigation, which requires
that they show that they have been harmed in a way that can be traced to
the FDA.</p>
<p>The plaintiffs have said their member doctors will be forced to
violate their consciences because they will "often be called upon to
treat abortion-drug complications" in emergency settings due to what
they call the FDA's unlawful actions.</p>
<p>The Justice Department has said these claimed harms rely on an
impermissibly speculative chain of events - that other doctors would
provide mifepristone to women who then experience a rare emergency and
end up in the medical care of these plaintiffs. Nor can the plaintiffs
who chose to practice emergency medicine claim to be injured "whenever
they are presented with patients in need of care," it added.</p>
<p>Biden, seeking a second term in office in the Nov. 5 U.S. election,
is an outspoken advocate for abortion rights. He and his fellow
Democrats have sought to make abortion rights a central theme against
Republicans ahead of the election.</p>
<p>The plaintiffs in 2022 challenged the FDA's actions approving and
widening access to mifepristone. Texas-based U.S. District Judge Matthew
Kacsmaryk broadly sided with them in a 2023 decision that would have
effectively pulled the drug off the market, though the 5th Circuit's
decision did not go that far.</p>
<p>The 5th Circuit's ruling remains on hold pending the Supreme Court's review. A ruling is expected by the end of June.</p>

<p>Monday was supposed to be a celebration day for the
anti-Trump/liberal forces where they could revel in former President
Donald Trump having his properties seized because they were asking him
to pony up a ridiculously unfair bond in his civil fraud case in New
York so that he could appeal the judgment. </p>
<p>But the day didn't go as the anti-Trump forces might have liked. </p><p>As
we reported, former President Donald Trump scored some major breathing
room as a NY appellate court reduced the requisite appeal bond to $175
million and extended the deadline for paying it by 10 days. I would
noted that's still a high and unfair amount given the nature of the
case, but certainly a more achievable number to make. </p><p>This
decision also may be a sign that the penalty is going to get reduced on
appeal, if Trump doesn't win the appeal outright. I've felt since the
decision it would be reduced because it's so unhinged from reality. </p><p>Then
on top of that, Trump's net worth skyrocketed to about $6.5 billion,
and according to Bloomberg making him one of the 500 wealthiest people
in the world, with a merger between Trump's social media company, Trump
Media & Technology Group, and a shell company, Digital World
Acquisition Corp. </p><hr /><p><strong>Read:</strong><span> </span></p><p><a href="https://redstate.com/smoosieq/2024/03/25/breaking-ny-appeals-court-reduces-trump-bond-in-civil-fraud-appeal-and-extends-deadline-n2171878" id="isPasted" target="_blank" title="UPDATE: NY Appeals Court Reduces Trump Bond in Civil Fraud Appeal and Extends Deadline">UPDATE: NY Appeals Court Reduces Trump Bond in Civil Fraud Appeal and Extends Deadline</a></p><p><a href="https://redstate.com/brutalbrittany/2024/03/25/trumps-net-worth-surges-on-a-day-that-was-expected-to-bring-financial-doom-n2171902" id="isPasted" target="_blank" title="Trump's Net Worth Surges on a Day That Was Expected to Bring Financial Doom">Trump's Net Worth Surges on a Day That Was Expected to Bring Financial Doom</a></p><hr /><p>Anti-Trump

been prosecuted in the first place. </p>

<p id="isPasted">I’m not sure what to call Eitan Chitayat. That ubiquitous word “influencer?” Or perhaps “writer,” as he indicates in his <a href="https://twitter.com/EitanChitayat" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Twitter bio</a>? Or “branding expert,” since that appears to be <a href="https://eitanchitayat.com/#:~:text=BRAND%2DBUILDER%20%7C%20CREATIVE%20DIRECTOR,finest%20competition%2C%20The%20One%20Show." rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">his day job</a>? Or perhaps we’ll just let him speak for himself; he says, “I’m that Jew.”</p>
<p>In fact, he’s gone viral with the phrase, and in 2015 produced a Facebook video with that motto that went viral and was viewed <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjEXomjpXPU" target="_blank">over 15 million times</a> across various social media platforms. He’s a passionate advocate of Israel and wears his Jewish “badge with pride.”</p><p>His
latest post doesn't have millions of views (yet), but it’s a powerful
monologue on Hamas, Sharia law, and the threat we face from Islamic
extremism. “Wake the hell up,” he exhorts viewers. “It's coming.”</p><p>By
"it," you can safely assume he means terrorism. He outlines how
extremists are organized and determined and will not rest until they’ve
murdered more heretics—not just Jews, but anyone who doesn't buy into
their twisted vision.</p><p>In the moving video, he remembers his friend, a freelance commercial producer named Bill Weems, <a href="https://www.adweek.com/brand-marketing/weems-killed-wtc-bingham-doomed-flight-93-51925/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">killed on United Airlines Flight 175</a>,
which was “steered mercilessly into the World Trade Center By Al Qaeda
On the morning of 9/11, 2001,” as Chitayat describes. "I'll never forget
him, and he'll always be my friend." </p><p>Weems left behind a wife and daughter. </p><p>In
his almost six-minute post, Chitayat details how the terrorists are
laughing at us right now for our naïveté and how so many among us fail
to grasp their evil intent despite the fact that they broadcast it to us
openly. </p>
<p>I encourage you to watch the whole thing:</p><p>Don’t underestimate the threat, he warns:</p><blockquote><div><p>The
number of people being killed in the name of Islamic radicalism
continues to grow everywhere. You can hear anti-Western speeches by
radical Islamic leaders, antisemitic chants on the streets of Europe, or
on campuses across the United States even. In these words, they move
people to hate and they also target young children and teens—those who
are most susceptible to lies.</p><p>It's all well thought out, taught, and funded. </p><p><em>They're global. They're organized.</em></p></div></blockquote><p>If they win, he says, we'll face “Hell on earth.”</p><p>"October 7th was our 9/11," he continues.</p><blockquote><div><p>But
you, who watched all of that savagery and death from a distance, don't
you forget how it came home to you, to the Boston Marathon in 2013, to
the London train and bus bombings in 2005. </p><p>The Paris Charlie
Hebdo massacre in 2015, the Pittsburgh Tree of Life Synagogue in 2018,
the ongoing killings in Sudan, Nigeria, and Yemen. To Iranians in Iran,
in the former state-sponsored terrorism and totalitarianism, to Syria
and Iraq, where over 1,000,000 people have been killed in civil wars,
and these murders are a direct result of Islamic radicals sending a
message to anyone standing in their way on the road to an Islamic
caliphate. </p></div><p><strong>One that will be worse than Hell on Earth.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>He points out how our young are easily manipulated with selectively
edited TikTok videos, young people who don’t have the attention span to
understand true evil when it’s right in front of them. He issues a stark
warning for those who would wish to bury their heads in the sand.
Videos of dead people sell, he explains, but "the context of how and why
it happened—doesn't."</p><blockquote><div><p>Radical Islamic leaders
love how ordinary citizens aren't pressurizing their leaders to crush
them into oblivion, as they brainwash entire communities in their
neighborhoods. They've got ordinary citizens in the palm of their hand,
not knowing that they're being played. But you know who I'm sure doesn't
love any of this? </p><p>Bill's family. </p></div><div><p>It's 23 years
now since Bill was murdered by Islamic jihadists, [by] Hamas,
Hezbollah, other like-minded terror organizations. They're still here,
and their killing is far from over, and I hate to break it to you—but
it's coming to a place near you, sooner than you think.</p><p><strong>And that's not fearmongering. That's just an inconvenient truth for you.</strong></p></div></blockquote><p>Kamala Harris' <a href="https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2024/03/24/kamala-remarks-rafah-n2171835" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">word salads</a>, Joe Biden's <a href="https://redstate.com/bonchie/2024/03/22/bidens-attempt-to-toss-israel-under-the-bus-suffers-embarrassing-un-defeat-the-reason-is-disgusting-n2171764" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">mumblings</a>,
and concessions to Hamas and other terror groups won’t make this
problem go away. Chitayat’s words may be scary, they may make us
uncomfortable, but that doesn’t make them any less true. As we <a href="https://redstate.com/bonchie/2024/03/23/despite-putins-claims-isis-provides-photographic-evidence-it-carried-out-the-moscow-attack-n2171804" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">just saw in Moscow</a>,
a small band of committed zealots can create havoc and massacre
hundreds of innocent people. They have no compunction about doing it and
would love to do it again—here in the U.S., if possible. As Biden
continues to let millions of unvetted illegal immigrants pass freely
across our southern border, the threat only grows more dire. </p>
<p>Understanding and compromise don’t work with terrorists. There’s only
one way to mitigate the existential threat, and that’s to eliminate
them—as Israel is trying to do, even as they’re continually <a href="https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2024/03/25/hamas-now-rejecting-latest-ceasefire-deal-blame-biden-and-un-for-emboldening-them-n2171909" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">kneecapped by the Biden administration</a>. </p><p>This
video is simply one man talking to a camera—no CGI, no effects, no
gruesome footage—yet it’s as powerful a call to action as I’ve seen.</p>

<p>We've seen Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) take apart Democratic witnesses appearing before the Senate in the past.</p><p>But
the humiliation he served up to Olympic skier Gus Schumacher last week
was something else. I'm not sure why the Democrats put him forward as an
"expert." But he had trouble answering even basic questions about what
he was supposed to be talking about, which was climate change. This was
true gold from Kennedy. </p>
<p>Kennedy was unfailingly polite and just asked him some simple
questions about carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. He also just reminded
him of some of the things he'd posted in the past on social media on
such topics as "defund the police'" that Schumacher said he wasn't able
to remember. </p><p>It was a great example of the vacuousness of many of
the Democratic witnesses. It appeared that they threw him up there just
because he was a skier and looked nice, and they had no idea if he knew
anything or if he could answer questions. It said so much about the
Democrats. </p><hr /><p><strong>READ:</strong><span> </span><a href="https://redstate.com/sister-toldjah/2024/03/22/watch-in-which-sen-john-kennedy-expertly-destroys-the-credibility-of-woke-climate-expert-witness-n2171774" id="isPasted" target="_blank" title="WATCH: In Which Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13238361/Climate-skier-Gus-Schumacher-kennedy-senate.html" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">apologized</a> for Kennedy.</p><blockquote><p id="isPasted">In
one excruciating exchange Kennedy corrected his asserting that Carbon
Dioxide is a 'huge part of our atmosphere', pointing out that it
accounts for 0.04 percent, but the skier told Dailymail.com that
Whitehouse was 'pretty cheerful' afterwards.</p><p>'He apologized for
Senator Kennedy and mentioned that it's not the first time he's done
that aggressive line of questioning that's not entirely related,'
Schumacher added.</p><p id="isPasted">'I don't think anyone from my team was expecting that approach, he did a good job of making these questions really silly.'</p></blockquote>
<p>"Aggressive line of questioning." How dare Kennedy ask him about what he's supposed to be talking about? </p><p>The kid should have just taken the "L." Struggling to defend the stupid just makes him look sillier. </p><p>But he just kept digging that hole. </p><blockquote><p id="isPasted">'I was definitely a little bit flustered,' Schumacher told Dailymail.com afterwards.</p><p>'That spoke to my inability to answer questions on CO2, but I wasn't too red in the face.' [....]</p><p id="isPasted">'At
first I was nervous,' Schumacher explained afterwards, 'I was just
trying to diffuse it and then I was just, look, this is silly it's a
distraction.</p><p>'On reflection I retweeted these things during the
time around George Floyd's killing and the unrest and that high emotion
around that time, it was especially a show of support for the black
community.</p><p>'I don't know, maybe the police shouldn't be abolished.'</p></blockquote><p>Oh. </p><p>Gee, ya think? </p><p id="isPasted">But then he praised himself for how he handled it, saying pushing for "systemic change" was "the right thing to do." </p><blockquote><p>'A
lot of the people I know and care about have been encouraging about how
I handled it, not being super flustered and keeping cool was something
they appreciated,' he added.</p></blockquote>
<p>Well, what are they going to tell him? "Sorry, my dude, but you just
got embarrassed yourself because you know nothing and Democrats have no
sense? Yeah, but your hair looked nice in the process."</p>

<p id="isPasted">The whole civil fraud case against former President
Donald Trump is a sham. There were no victims in this legal fiasco. Not a
single person was defrauded, but the goofy judge claims that even with
no fraud victims, the law was broken because “<em>orange man—bad</em>.”
There was a debacle concerning whether Trump could secure the $454
million bond on the judgment, where commentators, who were blinded by
their schadenfreude over the ruling, must’ve missed this segment on CNN
where it was alluded that Mar-a-Lago might be worth hundreds of millions
of dollars. Trump’s bond was lowered to <a href="https://townhall.com/tipsheet/spencerbrown/2024/03/25/judge-slashes-trumps-bond-amount-n2636933" target="_blank">$175 million</a> thanks to a last-minute ruling by an appellate court. </p>
<p>Michael Shellenberger and Alex Gutentag once again penned an article
that wouldn’t see the light of day within liberal or elite
establishments because it hits too close to home. The pair invoked
Sigmund Freud to analyze liberal America’s insane lust to seize Trump’s
assets. They came up with how the Left’s anti-Trump tendencies reek of
Soviet-style authoritarianism, infantile regression, and gross disregard
for the Constitution and the rule of law—the latter part you probably
already knew about. It’s psychopathic and narcissistic behavior that
oozes from this Trump civil fraud case, the two characteristics that
lead to totalitarianism when a nation’s intellectual institutions become
infected with such tendencies. With Trump, liberals don’t even try to
hide it anymore (via <a href="https://public.substack.com/p/the-narcissism-and-psychopathy-of?utm_source=post-email-title&publication_id=279400&post_id=142887951&utm_campaign=email-post-title&isFreemail=false&r=4gmwt&triedRedirect=true&utm_medium=email" target="_blank">Public</a>):</p><blockquote><div dir="ltr" lang="en"><p>NEW:

the assets of your political enemies is an activity we typically
associate with socialist and communist regimes. “Forfeiture and seizure
of assets?” asks O’Leary on CNN. “Is that the message we want to tell
people who want to bring their money here and protect their property
rights? To take a law that used to protect people against buying
refrigerators at an overpriced value decades ago and apply it against an
individual? And then talk about seizing assets? Like he was in
Venezuela?”</p><p>But the Democrats rooting for the seizure of Trump’s
assets appear more filled with tribal partisanship and hatred for the
Republican frontrunner than with communist ideology. Witness the
multiple MSNBC hosts who expressed childlike glee at the prospect of
bankrupting Trump. </p><p>While their motivations may differ from those of Venezuelan socialists, the impacts are the same. </p><p>Part
of what makes the behavior of elected Democrats like New York Attorney
General James and Judge Engoron, as well as the media elites cheering
them on so irrational is that they aren’t considering the wider impact
of their behavior. They aren’t considering how their ruling undermines
the Constitution and the rule of law. They aren’t considering the impact
their seizure of Trump’s assets would have on investors, businesses,
and working people. And they aren’t even considering the long-term
impact on the Democratic Party. </p><p>[…] </p><p>This TDS is analogous
to infantile regression, as described by Sigmund Freud and his daughter,
Anna. They argued that, psychologically speaking, many adults “regress”
to their childhood when under stress. “Like children,” noted
psychologist Cynthia Vinney in 2022, “adults sometimes regress, often as
a temporary response to a traumatic or anxiety-provoking situation.”
The stress for the Democrats prosecuting, convicting, and sentencing
him, was Trump as president. </p><p>Attempting to take nearly $500
million in a trumped-up civil fraud case constitutes a kind of tantrum
of highly entitled people. Imposing a historically unprecedented fine on
the front-running presidential candidate for business activities that
resulted in no victim is a behavior of people who feel highly entitled. </p><p>Such
entitlement is a key characteristic of narcissism, which is rising in
the culture and is near-identical to what Swiss researchers identified
as left-wing authoritarianism. People who espouse left-wing views and
want censorship and repression of their political enemies believe and
behave are entitled. </p><p>[…] </p><p>In his book Political Ponerology,
the late Polish psychologist Andrew M. Lobaczewski argues that
totalitarianism is the result of narcissists and psychopaths taking over
major societal institutions, from the universities to the justice
system. That is what appears to be happening now. </p><p>If an Attorney
General and a Judge can seize $464 million in assets from the
presidential front-runner for an alleged crime that has no victim, then
it would be more accurate to say that we have only a single political
system—and no true justice system at all. Worse, that system is rapidly
becoming psychopathological. </p></blockquote> <div>
<h4>And look beyond Trump. On free speech, cancel culture, cultural
appropriation, and a host of other issues that are cornerstones to
American progressives, they all reek of an entitlement and
self-righteousness that fits in very well with the narcissists that
dominate the Left. To protect their talking points, these anti-free
speech protocols are deployed to ensure order. It’s not hyperbole to
think that if the Left had their way, we’d have sworn officers of the
Thought Police that are not too dissimilar from the Orwellian law
enforcement agency that keeps order in Oceania. The progressive agenda
cannot comport with our Constitution, which is why the modern Left aims
to destroy it. Aside from that, simple mathematics and market theories
gut most of the Left’s wishlist of a domestic agenda that one could
arguably now call full-blow communism. You’re seeing how their courts
would attack the leading candidate of the rival party.</h4></div><p>The Trump
civil judgment and its reaction remind us of the monumental task we have
at hand in ensuring that we remain a free society. We have a political
party, its legions of dolts, and a media and cultural establishment that
are gung-ho in destroying us for having differing political beliefs.</p>

subpoenaed audio recordings of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s interview
with President Biden as part of the probe into his handling of
classified documents, House Republicans have threatened to hold Attorney
General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress.</p>
<p>House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and House
Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) issued a letter to
Garland on Monday.</p>
<blockquote>
<p>“The Department continues to withhold additional material responsive
to the Committees’ subpoenas—specifically the audio recordings of
Special Counsel Hur’s interviews with Biden and the transcript and audio
recordings of Special Counsel Hur’s interviews with Mr. Zwonitzer,”
Comer and Jordan wrote. “The February 27 subpoenas create a legal
obligation on you to produce this material.” </p>
</blockquote>
<p>Jordan and Comer asserted that they expect Garland “to produce all
responsive materials no later than 12:00 p.m. on April 8, 2024.” “If you
fail to do so, the committees will consider taking further action, such
as the invocation of contempt of Congress proceedings,” they continued.</p>
<p>Comer and Jordan served the Justice Department with a subpoena
demanding audio recordings and a transcript of Hur’s conversation with
Biden.</p>
<p>The DOJ sent two heavily redacted transcripts of Hur’s discussions
with Biden to the committees only hours before Hur was due to appear in
public earlier this month.</p>
<p>The audio recordings of the interviews were not produced by the
Justice Department, though. The committees “specifically prioritized”
the creation of the audio recordings, according to Comer and Jordan.</p>
<p>Mark Zwonitzer was subpoenaed by Comer and Jordan last week.
Zwonitzer is required by the subpoena to provide all records and
correspondence with Biden or his team pertaining to his ghostwriter work
on the memoirs “Promise Me, Dad” and “Promises to Keep,” including call
logs, emails, and more.</p>
<p>Zwonitzer is also required by the subpoena to produce all relevant
contracts and agreements, as well as audio recordings of his interviews
and talks with Biden and transcripts of those conversations.</p>
<p>Hur’s report, which was made public last month, contradicts the
president’s claims that he did not give Zwonitzer access to classified
materials. It says that Biden would “read from his notebooks nearly
verbatim, sometimes for an hour or more at a time,” and that “at least
three times President Biden read classified notes from national security
meetings” to Zwonitzer “nearly verbatim.”</p>
<p>Hur testified earlier this month that, after discovering that a
special counsel had been appointed to look into the incident, Zwonitzer
“slid” files of audio recordings and transcripts of discussions with
Biden “into his recycle bin on his computer.”</p>
<p>During Hur’s public trial earlier this month, Jordan questioned if the ghostwriter attempted to “destroy the evidence.”</p>

<p>Advertisement</p><p><a href="http://bllsbailey.tumblr.com">Tumblr</a> </p>
<p>Peltz, who is currently fighting for two Disney board seats,
denounced the mass media company for its “woke” strategy in its films,
notably criticizing Marvel’s <em>Black Panther </em>and <em>The Marvels</em>, which portrayed female and Black leads in order to represent a more diverse casting. </p>
<p>In a recent interview with the <em>Financial Times</em>, Peltz, 81,
who previously stated that he “never claimed” to have experience in the
media industry, made critical comments on the two Disney movies. </p>
<blockquote>
<p>“Why do I have to have a Marvel [movie] that’s all women?” Peltz said
in the interview. “Not that I have anything against women, but why do I
have to do that? Why can’t I have Marvels that are both? Why do I need
an all-Black cast?”</p>
</blockquote>
<p>Additionally, during the interview, Peltz questioned Disney CEO Bob
Iger’s overarching film strategy and Marvel Studios director Kevin
Feige’s leadership approach.</p>
<p>Even while he declared that he did not support the removal of either
leader, Peltz is openly running for the board seats currently held by
Michael B.G. Froman and Maria Elena Lagomasino. </p>
<p>Actor Chadwick Boseman’s <em>Black Panther</em> made $1.35 billion at the global box office, making it a true blockbuster. In contrast, 2023’s <em>The Marvels </em>was a financial flop, earning only $206 million in total, in comparison to the 2019 film <em>Captain Marvel</em>, which starred actress Brie Larson in the lead role, and bringing in $1.13 billion.</p>
<p>During Iger’s speech at the DealBook Summit held by the <em>New York Times</em>
in November 2023, he maintained that Disney films should prioritize
storytelling rather than pushing certain political and social
objectives. </p>
<blockquote>
<p>“Creators lost sight of what their No. 1 objective needed to be. We
have to entertain first. It’s not about messages,” Iger said. </p>
</blockquote>
<p>Peltz also stated during a <em>Financial Times</em> interview that “people go to watch a movie or a show to be entertained. They don’t go to get a message.”</p>
<p>Disney has presented Peltz’s Trian Partners’ proxy vote campaign as
being motivated by a “longstanding personal agenda” that Ike Perlmutter,
the former chairman of Marvel Studios, has against Iger. </p>
<p>Trian owns about $3.5 billion worth of Disney stock, of which
Perlmutter owns 79%. Disney let Perlmutter go from this position last
year.</p>
<p>As Marvel Studios chairman, Perlmutter notably disagreed with Feige on the production of <em>Black Panther</em> and <em>Captain Marvel</em> as well, claiming that films featuring Black or female leads would not be profitable. </p>
<p>However, Iger intervened and overruled Perlmutter.</p>
<p>In Iger’s 2019 memoir, <em>The Ride of a Lifetime</em>, the Disney CEO illustrated the “tensions that built up” between Feige and “the New York office,” referring to Perlmutter. </p>
<blockquote>
<p>“We had a chance to make a great movie and to showcase an
underrepresented segment of America, and those goals were not mutually
exclusive,” Iger stated. “I called Ike and told him to tell his team to
stop putting up roadblocks and ordered that we put both ‘Black Panther’
and ‘Captain Marvel’ into production.”</p>
</blockquote>
<p>When Peltz was asked if Feige should be fired as president of Marvel Studios during the <em>Financial Times</em> interview, he said, “I am not ready to say that, but I question his record.” </p>
<p>Additionally, Peltz’s Trian said in a new statement on Monday that it
“supports Mr. Iger as a candidate for the board and as CEO” and that
its objective was to bring in fresh talent to replace some of the Disney
board members. However, Trian abstained from voting in favor of Iger’s
reelection to the Disney board.</p>
<p>The proxy battle is anticipated to peak on April 3rd at Disney’s annual shareholder’s meeting, in which shareholders will cast their votes for new board members.</p>
