Speaker Johnson to Newsmax: Debate 'Dangerous Display,' Enemies 'Watching'

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., has spoken about seeking to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Joe Biden, alleging he might not be running the country and saying his weakness is on display for American enemies to take advantage.

"The current president is not on his A game. I take no pleasure in saying this, because what we're watching here is a dangerous, dangerous display," Johnson told Newsmax's "America Right Now" host Tom Basile in an exclusive in-studio interview in New York City on Saturday morning.

"Our enemies, our adversaries around the world are watching this just as we are. And that's the reason that Iran and Russia and China and North Korea have all formed this new axis of evil."

Biden's weakness on display to the world Thursday night during the debate could encourage the "axis of evil" to seek to take advantage of in the next five months — as presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump warned those "rivals" to "don't play around" and taken advantage of a "weak" American leadership.

"They're acting provocatively because they see weakness projected on the world stage," Johnson told Basile. "We can't afford to do this any longer."

Biden is not even running the country, despite being the elected leader to do so, putting America's fate in the administration's puppet-string holders, according to Johnson.

"I have been saying for some time that I don't think President Biden is actually running the country," Johnson said. "I think there's a small group of advisers — many of them are very progressive leftists who are trying to push their various agendas, and they put things in front of him to sign that he's not even fully aware of."

This is not a new development, Johnson added, but it is brought back to the top of mind after Thursday's debate failures on cognition.

"And, you know, this has been going on for a while," Johnson concluded. "We've been ringing the alarms for a while.

"It's kind of surprising to me that it took people this long to catch on, but that's because there was a false narrative being pushed forward every day by White House staffers and Democrats in Congress, trying to trying to tell people that what they were seeing was not true.

"What? Forget your lying eyes. And now the truth is out there on display, and now they're reacting to it."

Jill Biden's Ex-Husband Goes There: 'She's the One Who Wants to Be President Now'

Jill Biden's ex-husband slams first lady for apparently encouraging prez to stay in race after debate disaster

In the wake of Joe Biden’s disastrous Thursday night debate performance, the president has been taking a lot of heat—but he’s not the only one. Joe’s wife, aka the First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden, has also been subject to withering criticism from myriad pundits who accuse her of being a power-drunk, heartless Lady Macbeth, pushing her clueless husband to keep running despite his obvious mental confusion.

We’ve been all over it here at RedState:

Enabler-in-chief

It’s Clear Ice Queen Jill Biden Does Not Have an Ounce of Compassion for Her Husband

Shame on Jill Biden

But if there’s anybody who should know about the mind of Mrs. Biden, it’s someone who was married to her for five years. Granted, it was a long time ago, but Bill Stevenson was espoused to the Doctor of Education from 1970 to 1975, and he no longer recognizes the woman he once loved:

"The Dr. Jill Biden who I’ve seen on TV in the last five years is not the same person I married or that I recognize in any way," Stevenson lamented. "She’s matriculated into a completely different woman."

On Thursday, the first lady gushed about her husband's debate performance despite immediate calls for Biden to drop out of the race.

"Joe, you did such a great job," she told him at a debate after-party. "You answered every question. You knew all the facts." [Note: This is not parody. That is actually what she said.]

But Stevenson wonders if it’s really Joe behind the obsession to continue running, despite the president's obvious cognitive decline.

"I just don’t understand why she is so adamant about defending him and keeping him in the race since it appears that he’s struggling," Stevenson said. "It appears that he’s struggling with everybody these days.

"I’ve been proud of her at certain moments. I have no hard feelings. … I’m just surprised to see her front and center in the middle of this battle after flying under the radar for so many years. She’s always been very driven.

"People say she’s the one who wants to be president now."

Stevenson, to his credit, seems to make an effort not to completely trash his ex-wife in his comments, but he feels no such compunction when talking about the president himself:

"It makes me cringe every time he calls Trump a liar because I’m telling you right now, there is no better liar than President Biden," Stevenson said.

"He’s just a bad person. I’m probably one of the few people outside his family who has known him for 50 years."

Whoa. Tell us what you really think.

Biden’s debate performance on Thursday night was so horrendous that pundits on all sides of the political divide are calling for him to exit the presidential race.

Stevenson has made news before, questioning the Jill-Joe Harlequin Romance narrative and even writing a book about how the now-Oval Office occupants had an affair in the '70s—while she was still married to him.

Many—including myself—have wondered if Joe Biden’s time in office has really been just the third term of Barack Obama. But what if it’s actually Jill “Doctor of Education” Biden who’s been the power behind the throne all this time? That narrative seems more plausible with each new day.

The Turncoats Come Out in Force: Even NYT Gaslighter Maureen Dowd Turns on Biden

A lot of Americans are not racist or sexist — they're just angry, says NYT's Maureen Dowd | CBC Radio

As we’ve been reporting extensively, the mainstream media has been lying to us for years, and now all of a sudden, after Biden’s catastrophic Thursday night debate performance, they’re all freaking out because the president showed the very signs of dementia that sites like RedState have been documenting on a daily basis.

And now dishonest, painfully biased New York Times “journalist” Maureen Dowd has finally woken up and smelled the coffee despite her long track record of misinforming the American electorate.

Suddenly, as if she’s been zapped by a Taser, she’s now aware of what so many of us have been for so long: President Biden is an extremist fraud who has led our country down a path to disaster.

He’s being selfish. He’s putting himself ahead of the country. He’s surrounded by opportunistic enablers. He has created a reality distortion field where we’re told not to believe what we’ve plainly seen. His hubris is infuriating. He says he’s doing this for us, but he’s really doing it for himself.

I’m not talking about Donald Trump. I’m talking about the other president.

Oh really.

A clock is right at least once a day:

Thank you, Ms. Dowd, and thank you, New York Times, for finally reporting the most obvious news of the century. But where have you people, supposedly the finest journalists in the nation, been for the last three and a half years? You were missing in action. Reprehensible.

You failed us

STUNNER: NY Times Editorial Board Calls on Biden to Leave Presidential Race 'to Serve His Country'

You utterly failed the American people in your blind subservience to progressive ideology, and you buried all facts that might undermine your “Cause.” You should be utterly ashamed of yourselves, but you won’t be—you will now publish op-ed after op-ed just like this, acting surprised by what’s been happening right underneath your noses.

If there is a true threat to democracy, it is not Donald Trump—it is a corrupt media that has decided its mission is to infuse the American public with its leftist, Marxist ideology. We’ve seen how this turns out in history many times before, and it never ends well. We are not just fighting mentally compromised far-left politicians in this country, we are battling a media industrial complex that wants to eviscerate the soul of this nation.

The stakes could not be higher, and the panic amongst the enemies of freedom is proof of that. Maureen Dowd, like so many of her mainstream media corrupt cohorts, has now deservedly earned the title of "Captain Obvious":

Here's the Line in the Biden Campaign's Latest Memo That's Jaw-Dropping

The latest memo released by the Biden campaign is unreal. Are these people detached from reality? Is it arrogance? Or maybe it’s both because not even reporters from liberal outlets could stomach its contents. Joe Biden got his clock cleaned by Donald Trump to the point where Democrats were talking about replacing Biden on the ticket. It’s peak crisis mode among Democrats.

Here's the line that made everyone’s jaw drop: If we do see changes in polling in the coming weeks, it will not be the first time that overblown media narratives have driven temporary dips in the polls.”

Excuse me? Is the Biden operation going to blame the media for reporting that Biden acted and sounded like we all knew he would during Thursday night’s debate after weeks and months of observation? Eighty-six percent of Americans in a Washington Post/ABC News poll said Biden was too old to run.

These are your polls, people.

There’s a reason why he wasn’t doing interviews or press conferences; he can’t do them. This staff was so worried about a major flub that they nixed a prime opportunity to defend the Biden agenda during the biggest television event of the year: the Super Bowl. They opted to wait until the first showdown with Trump, where millions saw what they knew about Biden. How this is a shock to Biden staffers is beyond amusing since all their actions point to knowing that Grandpa has no clue where he is or what he’s doing.

This memo is ‘Don’t believe your lying eyes’ personified, and it’s unhealthy.

Former MSNBC Host Chris Matthews Has an Anti-Trump Meltdown on Bill Maher's Show

You knew this episode would touch upon the story of the week, that being Joe Biden’s abysmal debate against Donald Trump. The Democrats are in panic mode; there’s talk of replacing the president on the ticket. For months, Democrats and the media have tried to gaslight the electorate, claiming that Biden is mentally sound. MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough not so long ago argued that Biden is beyond cogent and that this is the best version he’s ever seen regarding the president. That all imploded on Thursday night. So, yes, HBO’s Bill Maher had some jokes about that:

Former MSNBC host Chris Matthews and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) were the guests on Friday’s episode, featuring an equally humorous rant from Matthews about what will happen if Trump wins in November. It’s the same hyperbolic nonsense that no one cares about since the former president is winning this election. The battleground state polls, the questions about age, Biden’s poor debate performance, inflation remaining at high levels, and a lackluster economy all have Biden on the defensive. He’s tied with Trump in Minnesota—all of this is post-conviction.

To be clear, we know the Manhattan hush money case was politically motivated and primarily vanished from the news cycle. Still, Biden’s debate performance has led to freakout mode among the Left, and Matthews captured that perfectly last night:

Trump is about taking people’s rights away; it’s the end of America if he wins. These aren’t serious talking points, nor are they remotely believable. The media has been busted for peddling one too many lies to be trusted, though on this, it’s just facially untrue.

Matthews embodied Trump derangement syndrome on Maher.  It’s nothing new—he felt that Trum’s inauguration had a “Hitlerian” feel.

Cope and seethe, fella. As of now, we’re on track to win this election.

Balance of power: Dem rep says people will 'want to talk about' Biden status on ticket after debate

Biden's inner circle silent as party reels following 'embarrassing' debate performance | Fox News

People will likely want to have a conversation about what the country saw on the presidential debate stage Thursday night, one Democratic congressman predicted after President Biden's decidedly weak performance.

"That's a question that people will, I'm sure, want to talk about," Rep. Joe Morelle, D-N.Y., replied when asked by Fox News Digital whether he believed that Biden should be the Democratic nominee for president.

"But like I said, this is one night. I'm not going to judge the president's performance based on one night," he added.

Reports quickly emerged, even before the Thursday night debate had ended, alleging Democratic panic taking place about Biden and his ability to take on former President Trump in the November election. A hoarse Biden took the stage in Atlanta for the debate and came across as soft-spoken and at times confused. The performance was concerning enough that analysts on CNN and MSNBC agreed that Biden had done poorly.

"No matter who you are as a lead performer, whether you're a basketball player or you're an opera singer, you can have a bad night," Morelle explained.  "So I'm going to chalk this up to him having a bad night."

The Democrat's acknowledgment that some may want to discuss Biden's status on the ticket and potential alternate nominees comes as several other Democratic members of Congress were unwilling to say what they thought the president should do.

Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Mich., said, "I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. It wasn't Joe Biden, you know, the best. But I'm going to tell you, Donald Trump reinforced all the concerns that I've had."

Asked about whether he should still be the nominee, she said, "You know what? I'm not going to be part of all the hand-wringing in Washington. I know the kind of person I want to see in the presidency."

Despite concerns swirling about Biden following the debate, his campaign was clear on Friday, with spokesperson Seth Schuster telling Fox News Digital, "Of course he’s not dropping out."

Supreme Court Overturns 1984 Chevron V. Natural Resources Defense Council Ruling

WASHINGTON, DC - JUNE 14: The U.S. Supreme Court Building stands on June 14, 2024 in Washington, DC. The Court released opinions for several cases today including a 6-3 decision striking down a federal ban on bump stocks instituted by U.S. President Donald Trump after the 2017 mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas. (Photo by Anna Moneymaker/Getty Images)

The Supreme Court has overturned the 1984 decision in Chevron v. Natural Resources Defense Council, which mandated judicial deference to agencies in cases where the law is unclear.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) federal rule requiring fishermen to pay $700 per day for an “at-sea monitor” is outside the authority that Congress granted the federal agency, according to the majority of the court in a 6-2 decision.

The justices heard the arguments in January in two cases arising from lawsuits filed by Rhode Island and New Jersey fishermen opposing NOAA’s rule, which they claim threatened to destroy their livelihoods.

The Chevron doctrine, a legal theory developed in the 1980s, states that if a federal regulation is contested, the courts should accept the agency’s reasonable interpretation of whether Congress gave it the right to issue the rule, provided that Congress had not directly addressed the issue. This theory was overruled by the court’s decision.

“Chevron is overruled,” Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for the court’s majority. “Courts must exercise their independent judgment in deciding whether an agency has acted within its statutory authority, as the APA requires. Careful attention to the judgment of the Executive Branch may help inform that inquiry. And when a particular statute delegates authority to an agency consistent with constitutional limits, courts must respect the delegation while ensuring that the agency acts within it.”

“But courts need not, and under the APA, they may not defer to an agency interpretation of the law simply because a statute is ambiguous,” he added. “Chevron was a judicial invention that required judges to disregard their statutory duties.”

“And the only way to ‘ensure that the law will not merely change erratically but will develop in a principled and intelligible fashion,’” he said, citing Vasquez v. Hillery, is “for us to leave Chevron behind.”

Justice Clarence Thomas wrote that Chevron deference “permits the Executive Branch to exercise powers not given to it.”

“Chevron deference was ‘not a harmless transfer of power,'” Thomas wrote. “‘The Constitution carefully imposes structural constraints on all three branches, and the exercise of power free of those accompanying restraints subverts the design of the Constitution’s ratifiers.’ In particular, the Founders envisioned that ‘the courts [would] check the executive by applying the correct interpretation of the law.”

“Chevron was thus a fundamental disruption of our separation of powers. It improperly strips courts of judicial power by simultaneously increasing the power of executive agencies. By overruling Chevron, we restore this aspect of our separation of powers,” he said.

The fishermen claimed that 20% of their revenue is lost due to the required expense of at-sea monitors.

Dissident from the majority, Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor stated that the Chevron “has formed the backdrop against which Congress, courts, and agencies—as well as regulated parties and the public—all have operated for decades. It has been applied in thousands of judicial decisions.”

“It has become part of the warp and woof of modern government, supporting regulatory efforts of all kinds—to name a few, keeping air and water clean, food and drugs safe, and financial markets honest. Judges are not experts in the field and are not part of either political branch of the government,” Kagan wrote. “Those were the days when we knew what we were not. When we knew that between courts and agencies, Congress would usually think agencies were the better choice to resolve the ambiguities and fill the gaps in regulatory statutes.”

“Because agencies are ‘experts in the field.’ And because they are part of a political branch with a claim to making interstitial policy, And because Congress has charged them, not us, with administering the statutes containing the open questions,” she continued. “At its core, Chevron is about respecting that allocation of responsibility—the conferral of primary authority over regulatory matters to agencies, not courts.”

Jerry Leeman, CEO of the New England Fishermen’s Stewardship Association (NEFSA), praised the Friday decision, stating that “Federal officials usually ignore the well-grounded concerns American fishermen share about overregulation.”

“We are grateful to the Supreme Court for bucking this trend. And we are especially grateful to the fishermen-plaintiffs in Relentless and Loper Bright who have spent years fighting for their brother and sister fishermen everywhere,” he added.
