DHS Puts Funds for Sanctuary Cities on Chopping Block
![]() |
Billions of dollars in federal grants for programs that seek to prevent terrorism or help communities respond to disasters could be put on the chopping block, based on immigration policy in sanctuary cities, according to the Department of Homeland Security. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem signed a document determining that Federal Emergency Management Agency programs that go to "sanctuary jurisdictions" would be subject to a review and potential "termination," The Hill reported Friday. It was among a number of memos that were written by FEMA acting Administrator Cameron Hamilton
on March 20 that Noem approved Tuesday, E&E News reported Friday. The list of grants that could be cut includes a $1.9 billion program to help high-risk urban areas prevent and prepare for terrorist attacks, a $760 million program that helps states and tribes prevent terrorism, and a $480 million program that helps states and tribes with emergency preparedness. The document Noem signed flagged those grants as "red," according to The Hill. FEMA has frozen nearly $10 billion in disaster aid for nonprofits including hospitals as it seeks to identify funding that could be used to help illegal immigrants, according to agency documents obtained by E&E News. The blocked money had been approved for nongovernmental organizations to rebuild their own facilities after a disaster and to provide services such as short-term housing to survivors. The document signed by Noem also contains a list of "yellow" programs that could later receive the same treatment. These programs include services for major disaster survivors, funds to repair buildings damaged by a major disaster, and security programs for nonprofit organizations — including houses of worship. Approval of their payments will be subject to a weekly review by DHS. Among programs set for termination include those that provide emergency food and shelter to migrants. The document came in response to two executive orders by President Donald Trump, including one that seeks to prevent federal funds being used to benefit illegal immigrants, according to The Hill. It also came after the Trump administration suggested putting conditions on disaster aid to California following January's wildfires. Biden-Appointed Federal Judge Considers Blocking Repatriation of Denver-Area Illegal Alien Activist
![]() |
A Denver-based "immigration activist," and by that you can safely infer "illegal immigration activist," who was arrested by Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) earlier in March, has now had her case brought before a U.S. District Court judge, who has temporarily blocked the activist's deportation order pending further legal action. The activist, Jeanette Vizguerra, has been in the United States illegally since 1997.
Judge Wang,
we should note, is a legal immigrant, originally from Taiwan, and was appointed to her current role by President Biden. This may not signify anything, of course; there are plenty of legal immigrants who look harshly at people who enter the country illegally, they having followed the proper process themselves. And note that Judge Wang has made no ruling on the merits of the case; she has just placed the deportation order on hold while the legal process is played out. Her lawyers say the order is not valid, but given Vizguerra's history, that's hard to credit. My colleague Rusty Weiss, earlier in March, brought us the story of Vizguerra's arrest. Previously on RedState: ‘Got You’: Illegal Who Evaded Deportation During Trump’s First Term by Hiding in a Church Arrested by ICE Rusty wrote:
This is a person who entered the country illegally, remained in the country illegally, possessed and used a falsified ID, and was never sent back to Mexico. Denver, we should note, is a "sanctuary city." SEE ALSO: Sanctuary City Mayor Slammed in Congress for Release of Violent Tren de Aragua Gang Member ICE has been trying to repatriate Vizguerra since the Obama administration.
Note that last sentence; she claims she "did not know" the social security card was fraudulent. This is the purest horse squeeze, and that false statement alone warrants her being repatriated. The fact is that Jeanette Vizguerra is a poster child for everything that's wrong with how the United States and the various "sanctuary" jurisdictions have handled illegal immigrants for some time now. She knowingly entered the United States illegally. She knowingly remained in the United States illegally, as evidenced by her hiding from immigration authorities in a church. She has been an advocate for illegal immigration, and she carried and showed authorities a forged ID. One could argue that she has not only broken multiple immigration laws but that she has been openly defiant of our immigration laws. Indeed, it may well be easier to ask what immigration laws Jeanette Vizguerra has not broken. This is a person who should be repatriated, and that repatriation should be publicized, pour encourager les autres. Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president. Man Accused of Damaging a Tesla Makes 'Genius' Move That Comes Back to Bite Him
![]() |
People who attack and damage Teslas are not making very smart moves. First, it's just dumb to attack or damage Teslas because they're breaking the law. Second, it's based on a twisted, false premise about Elon Musk being a Nazi and/or harming the country with DOGE. Third, if people do attack the Teslas and they get caught, they're opening themselves up for some serious charges. Not just state charges, but potential federal charges as well. And finally, they're likely to get caught because the Teslas have cameras from every angle and everything is being recorded for all to see. But the people engaged in these actions don't seem to understand that. READ MORE: Man Accused of Attacking Tesla With Mini 4-Wheeler Finds Out That Wasn't a Smart Idea Apparently, a man in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, wasn't thinking about any of those things when he allegedly went after a Tesla in the parking lot of a Planet Fitness this week, according to police.
That was bad enough. But then came the truly genius move.
Gotta love it when these characters basically are just saying to the police, "Come catch me!" with this kind of action. Not a bright move. The police were happy to oblige. Now, the man is charged with criminal mischief, harassment, and other related charges. And now, the suspect is going to have some time to consider the wisdom of what he allegedly did. Democrats should be calling out this kind of behavior as wrong, but by and large, they have not been. As we reported, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) ducked the question, saying she was late to where she was going. In the time it took to say that, she could have said, "Yes, it's wrong." READ MORE: 'Stunning and Brave': Nancy Pelosi Gives a Disturbing Answer When Asked About Anti-Tesla Violence Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) bizarrely even attacked the task force formed to investigate the Tesla attacks as politically weaponizing the DOJ, saying it was "to use our law enforcement to 'crack down' on adversaries of Musk’s." Um, no, this is going after criminals that they are supposed to be going after. But this is where Democrats are now. Stunning and brave, they are not. Editor's Note: Leftist domestic terrorists are fire-bombing Tesla dealerships and harassing owners across the country. They must face justice. |
JD Vance Makes Historic Greenland Visit as Trump Pushes for U.S. Control of the Island
![]() |
Vice President JD Vance is in Greenland this week, making the case for a U.S. takeover of the region, arguing that bringing the strategically located island under American control would strengthen national security and economic interests. This is the furthest North any senior White House leader has ever traveled on an official trip. Vance’s proposal highlights Greenland’s vital position in the Arctic, saying that with Greenland's sovereignty, the territory would soon see the benefit of partnering with the U.S. On Friday, Vance, along with Second Lady Usha Vance,
delivered a historic speech in Greenland, stressing the critical need to strengthen Arctic security, particularly around key sites like Pituffik Space Base. During his address, Vance highlighted the long-standing mistreatment of the Greenlandic people by Danish leaders, pointing out how they’ve been treated as second-class citizens while the island's infrastructure has deteriorated. Expect the Vice President to echo these concerns moving forward. Vance pointed to Greenland’s vital position in the Arctic, where increasing geopolitical tensions with countries like China and Russia make its resources and military importance more crucial than ever. "We can't just bury our head in the sand — or, in Greenland, bury our head in the snow — and pretend that the Chinese are not interested in this very large landmass. We know that they are," he said. The VP also said that the people of Greenland should have the right to make their own decisions about their future. He hopes they will choose to partner with the United States, as the U.S. is the only nation that will honor Greenland’s sovereignty and security, which he views as being closely linked to U.S. security. The New York Post spoke to Greenlanders, who approved Trump’s proposal to partner with the island. One person told the outlet that joining the U.S. is America's most valuable offer to another country. They believe that when President Donald Trump suggests Greenland could enter the U.S., he’s offering something incredibly significant and worthwhile, implying it’s the best thing he could offer. Another told The Post that change is needed in Greenland, adding that they are tired of Danish colonialism. "Only one country can protect us — the US,” another said. “And the US economy gives more potential to increasing incomes per person, maybe up to 40 percent in the future.” Trending on Townhall Videos |
Former Kennedy Center Staffer Advocated for Diversity But Pushed Radical Woke Agendas
![]() |
Marc Bamuthi Joseph, the former Vice President of Social Impact at the Kennedy Center, speaks out after the Trump administration dismantled the center’s Social Impact team— or the radical woke agenda he was trying to push. The move is part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to cut federal funding to the performing arts institute for its woke programming. In an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle,
Joseph slammed President Donald Trump for cutting his team, which aimed to expand the art center’s reach to diverse audiences by Black composers. In a video, after he was terminated, he said he was taking everything “black” in his office down, accusing Trump, the new chair of the Kennedy Center, “is doing its best to disavow much of the literal color that has made this place special.” During his time at the Kennedy Center, Joseph launched the Culture Caucus, which offered two-year residencies with organizations that worked with queer and transgender youth, formerly incarcerated individuals, and the disabled community. He also established a national partnership program called Conflux, which worked with the National Arab Orchestra, the First Nations community, and World Pride. One program, Cartography, has been running since 2019, and over one million dollars have been spent over the open-ended life span of this project. In 2024, it spent $311,200; in 2025, the budget is $494,999. During the Cartography project, Joseph said, "Classical music has a problem with diversity because America has a problem with diversity." Meanwhile, the Culture Caucus spends about $300,000 annually and focuses on "crushing colonialism." Joseph accused Trump of attacking the queer and trans community and "forced" the Kennedy Center to withdraw support from events featuring drag or "drag adjacent" performances. These programs were not open to the public and were exclusively given to individuals whose art pushed a progressive political agenda. Performers had no chance if they didn’t share the same political views. The network was so insular that it even allowed the same person, Samora Pinderhughes, to receive artist residencies in both San Francisco and DC. Joseph suggested that now Trump has taken over the Kennedy Center, visitors don’t feel safe, saying that the general feeling is “vulnerability and impending violence” at a place that is supposed to be a “sanctuary for free thought and expression.” He called the new shift toxic, with artists in “imminent danger.” Trending on Townhall Videos |
Democrats Condemn WH After Posting 'AI Illustration' Of Illegal Alien Fentanyl Dealer Being Detained By ICE

Basora-Gonzalez. After sharing a “Studio Ghibli”-style AI meme of a now-detained illegal alien and convicted fentanyl dealer, the White House faced immense Democrat backlash for leveraging OpenAI’s latest image-generation trend. The AI illustration, which was shared on the White House’s X and Instagram account on Thursday, depicted the arrest of Virginia Basora-Gonzalez on March 12th. Basora-Gonzalez, a 36-year-old drug trafficker and illegal alien, had already been previously deported from the U.S. for fentanyl distribution. However, she later returned to the United States illegally once more. ICE agents reportedly detained her this month in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. When the feds posted pictures of Basora-Gonzalez sobbing, as she was being taken away in handcuffs, news of her detainment instantly made media headlines. The Trump administration shared a photo of the woman in handcuffs crying next to a law enforcement officer. The White House’s posted image seemed to mimic the brand-new ChatGPT image generator that is currently sweeping social media. The generator makes it possible to adapt well-known internet memes or one’s personal images into the distinctive aesthetic of Studio Ghibli, a Japanese animation studio based in Koganei, Tokyo — which has produced animated films such as “Spirited Away” (2001). The teary-eyed fentanyl dealer is reportedly still being held in federal custody. According to officials, Basora-Gonzalez was already living in the United States illegally when she was initially taken into custody by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in June 2019 — for aiding and abetting and carrying 40 grams or more of fentanyl. Before serving her previous one-year sentence, the defendant entered a guilty plea to the charges and was deported to the Dominican Republic in 2020. Although the exact date of Basora-Gonzalez’s second illegal return to the United States is still unclear, an anonymous source reported her to ICE at the beginning of March. In many cases, competing drug dealers will report their competition to the authorities.
In 2022, fentanyl was responsible for 200 deaths every day. Over a quarter of a million Americans have died from a fentanyl overdose since 2018, according to USA Facts. However, these figures were cut off after 2022 — meaning that the fentanyl death count in the U.S. is much higher now. Meanwhile, furious left-wing social media users chimed in to express their “disbelief” and anger in relation to the recent post.

Utah Officially Becomes First U.S. State To Ban Fluoride In Public Tap Water
![]() |
Utah has now become the first state in the U.S. to ban fluoride in public drinking water, following assertions by Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. that it contributes to various adverse health effects. However, Kennedy is not the only one to highlight the potential health risks associated with excessive fluoride exposure.
Republican Governor Spencer Cox signed the legislation into law on Thursday, banning Utah cities from adding the mineral into public water systems. Kennedy has largely been a critic of adding fluoride into tap water — attributing the mineral to a wide range of diseases.
The addition of fluoride in public drinking water was first implemented in the 1950s, with officials claiming that its primary purpose was to prevent tooth decay. Today, more than 200 million people in the United States consume fluoridated water. The Utah Dental Association also claims that fluoride in drinking water has the capacity to “reduce cavities by at least 25%,” with proponents rejecting the removal.
Florida’s surgeon general also previously recommended against fluoridation due to “neuropsychiatric risk” — as high levels of fluoride in drinking water has the potential to dilute the intellectual development of children, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). A few months ago, a federal judge ordered the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to regulate fluoride levels in water due to the risk of intellectual development of children, highlighting the potential danger.
Although the amount of fluoride in public drinking water is said to be “below levels [that make it] toxic,” different water sources contain a varied level of fluoridation — increasing the risk. A 2011 report found that 2 in 5 U.S. adolescents were observed to have “mild tooth streaking or spottiness” due to high levels of fluoride, according to the Associated Press. Critics have also argued that other countries have been able to cut cavity rates without adding fluoride into their public water, including Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Japan, among others. Critics noted that the addition of fluoride in products like toothpaste means that the mineral is no longer needed in tap water. Republican Representative Stephanie Gricius (R-Utah), a sponsor of the bill, stated that the issue of fluoride in water was of “individual choice.” The ban is expected to go into effect on May 7th, as lawmakers in Ohio, South Carolina, and Florida have also begun taking steps to remove fluoride from public water. Radio Free Asia Sues to Restore Cut-Off Funding
![]() |
RFA President and CEO Bay Fang She thinks that she has a right to American Taxpayers Money. Radio Free Asia filed a lawsuit Thursday against the United States government to restore funding cut off by the U.S. Agency for Global Media, claiming that the organization did not have the authority to stop the money. The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, said Congress appropriated the funding to the news organization but did not give the agency the ability to withhold the money, reports Bloomberg Law. The defunding, therefore, was made in violation of several constitutional provisions and federal law, the complaint states. Radio Free Asia was among the outlets that were designated for elimination through an executive order signed by President Donald Trump. The Open Technology Fund, which monitors censorship, was also targeted in the order. Radio Free Asia reported that the law firms Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP and Democracy Forward filed the lawsuit on its behalf. RFA President and CEO Bay Fang issued a statement calling the termination of funds illegal, and said the network, working under the authority of Congress, "remains committed to providing a voice that counters the propaganda of the Chinese Communist Party and other authoritarian governments across Asia." She added that the CCP is "happy to see the funding for RFA stopped, but I believe we can prevent such an illegal termination of funding." The lawsuit names USAGM's interim CEO, Victor Morales; Kari Lake, the Trump administration's senior adviser to USAGM; Russell Vought, director of the US Office of Management and Budget; and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Radio Free Asia has suspended most of its Washington-based staff after the suspension of funding was announced on March 15. It is asking the court to temporarily halt the funding cuts and to allow it to continue receiving the $35 million in funding Congress has appropriated through Sept. 30. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, U.S. District Court Judge Royce C. Lamberth
Stupid Idiot Judge. temporarily blocked efforts by the Trump administration to remove all federal funding from Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and the Open Technology Fund. Wednesday, Lake said in a letter to RFE/RL Chief Executive Steve Capus that USAGM was rescinding her previous letter terminating their grant agreement, but said the rescission was without prejudice to USAGM's authority to terminate the grant at a later date if USAGM were to determine that such a termination was appropriate under the applicable law."
