Sen. Brian Jones: Newsom Has a Fraud Problem

golden state gubernatorial and or democratic politics in palmetto state of united states

Voters Should Be Alert as Gavin Newsom Prepares for '28 Run

California can't seem to stop going viral for all the wrong reasons.

Its taxpayer-funded, high-profile "future of everything" projects have become recurring exhibits in government excess and progressive mismanagement; each one offering a clearer glimpse into the negligence, waste, and fraud behind Newsom's state operations.

Consider the $114 million wildlife crossing in Los Angeles County, already over budget, behind schedule, and still not connecting anything.

Lessons Learned at SDSU Still Aid California State Senator | Fowler College of Business | SDSU

 Sen. Brian Jones

Or the high-speed rail project, pitched to voters a decade ago as a $33 billion feat of modern infrastructure innovation, now  projected to exceed $126 billion without a single track laid.

Now, Newsom is under fire for directing up to $19 million more in taxpayer funds to a global public relations firm tasked with managing the fallout from these mismanaged projects and other "negative narratives," as he calls them, ahead of his anticipated 2028 presidential run.

Redirecting those funds to shovel-ready – and technically feasible – projects like the LOSSAN Rail or Sites reservoir projects would put those funds to better use.

But that would require a different governing instinct – one that put California's needs ahead of headlines and public relations wins.

Since taking office in 2019, Gavin Newsom has presided over some of the highest taxes –
including on income, business, and fuel – in the country while spending more than $300 billion annually – yet the state's condition makes clear those resources are not delivering the basic services Californians are told they’re paying for.

So where, exactly, is all that money going, if not just to public relations cleanup crews?

Unfortunately, we now have some idea.

Earlier this month, one watchdog analysis – using the state's own public data – estimated roughly $425 billion had been lost to waste, fraud, and abuse over the past five years.

That’s about $22,000 per taxpayer.

The unemployment insurance system is a prime example.

Newsom's pandemic-era changes left it alarmingly easy to exploit and hundreds of millions were sent to individuals using stolen identities, including neo-Nazi organized fraud rings and even prison inmates – among them at least 133 on death row.

The state's Medi-Cal spending, meanwhile, has doubled from $93 billion to nearly $200 billion since 2019.

A meaningful share of that bump appears to have gone – in addition to $12 billion to
illegal immigrant healthcare – fraudsters and organized crime rings.

Since 2019, roughly $146 billion has been reported lost across the system.

The U.S. Department of Justice has begun making arrests in Los Angeles to crack down on "sham" hospice operations, where healthy individuals were allegedly paid monthly kickbacks to pose as terminal patients, draining taxpayer funds "to finance luxury lifestyles and private real estate."

We now know – no thanks to California officials, but to investigative journalism by CBS News – that lax hospice oversight, compounded by Newsom's policy changes, allowed at least 700 hospices in Los Angeles County alone to bill taxpayers billions in fake charges.

The same pattern showed up in COVID-19-era small business loans, where more than 111,000 borrowers are now under suspension by federal authorities for taking advantage of the state's unaccountable system.

We see it again in the state's homeless-industrial complex, where more than $30 billion of taxpayer funds has been spent since 2019, yet the crisis has only worsened, with tent cities taking over once-thriving communities.

Much of that money has since surfaced in prosecutions involving funds diverted for personal use and the state's nonpartisan Legislative Analyst's Office has said there's no way to track where the rest of it went.

And through it all, Newsom has not moved to restore the safeguards his administration removed, nor has he supported serious efforts to strengthen fraud enforcement.

What's worse, the 2028 hopeful wants to spread his approach to the rest of the country.
The Golden State, in his telling, is a "beacon," an "operational model," and a "policy blueprint for others to follow."

Never mind that hardworking families are paying some of the highest costs in the country for a government that struggles to account for its own spending, watching their tax dollars flow to criminal organizations, failed projects, and mismanaged programs while their quality of life erodes day-by-day.

This is no longer something that can be explained away, even with expensive public relations teams or snarky, taxpayer-funded social media hacks.

It's Newsom's guiding governing model and it has been since his first foray into public office. Failure upon failure disguised by window dressings as victory and success.

The rest of the country should pay attention, because they will soon be asked to adopt it.

Teens Gone Bad: Three Juveniles Nabbed in Terrifying Texas Shooting Spree That Left 4 Injured

As RedState’s Ward Clark reported Sunday, gunmen engaged in a seemingly random shooting spree in Austin, Texas. There were at least 12 incidents across the city as the perps fired from stolen vehicles, hitting two fire stations, injuring four people, and triggering a shelter-in-place order in South Austin.

Following Ward’s report, Austin Police Department Chief Lisa Davis

Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis outlines accountability efforts, response times, staffing efforts

announced that two juvenile suspects — a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old — had been taken into custody.

Then, on Sunday night, APD said they’d busted a third:

Manor is a suburb of Austin, and its police department often works closely with APD.

During a Sunday afternoon press conference, authorities alleged that the 17-year-old already had a warrant connected to the theft of a firearm, and that the 15-year-old was suspected of stealing a gun from the same store.

What the heck was their motive? Authorities said they don’t know:

"At this time, most of the shootings have occurred in South Austin," [Chief] Davis said earlier Sunday. "No specific motive, and they appear to be random in nature."

An anonymous, crime-focused Twitter account called @AustinJustice opined that the suspects could have been nailed much more quickly if APD had been able to use technology it had relied upon in the past: license plate readers.

In 2025, city leaders refused to continue a license plate reader program that had helped police effectively track down stolen cars and solve other crimes. Their reasoning, at least partially: the information could be used by ICE to locate illegal aliens.

The APD would like to have a word:

In a work session Tuesday [June 3, 2025], APD says the system has helped them find 176 stolen vehicles and catch numerous violent suspects. The data is kept for seven days, and any requests follow guidelines.

"We have robust safeguards in place to ensure the requests that are coming in are monitored and reviewed," Assistant Chief Sheldon Askew said.

APD says not having the program will make it more difficult to solve crimes.

"We're more successful when we have technologies such as ALPR [automated license plate reader] to do it," Askew said.

Presumably, we’ll find out more on Monday about what led at least three teens to go on a violent shooting spree that could have easily cost lives. Males in their late teens are notorious for having a wild streak, but this is way beyond the pale. They should pay a heavy price.

Unfortunately, Travis County District Attorney José Garza, who could potentially oversee the case, is a George Soros-backed Democrat, and you know what that means — he’s soft-on-crime and no friend of the police. We'll see what happens.

Ya Think?! Karen Bass Accuses Spencer Pratt of Tapping Into 'A General Sense' of Anger

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is having a terrible, no good, very bad couple of weeks. Former Reality TV star and mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt leveled Bass in a May 6th mayoral debate. So much so that Bass begged out of another televised debate on May 13, opting to do one-on-one interviews with favored press.

And who could be more favorable than the leftist clown car over at MS NOW? On Saturday, Bass appeared with Jonathan Capeheart on "The Weekend" to talk about her goals for her second term. The lowlights: restoring copper wire in the streetlights, and dealing with the problems of L.A. that have "existed for 3-plus decades." Bass also dismissed Spencer Pratt by accusing him of being an anger ball who connects with the generalized anger that exists all over the country.

Mmmkay.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass accused the Republican challenger in her reelection race of using a “general sense of anger” to motivate support for his mayoral bid.

“I think that he is tapping into a general sense of anger that people have, not just in Los Angeles, but in many other places around our country,” Bass told MS NOW on Saturday morning.

Not "many other places," Karen, ONLY ONE. What other city's mayor was warned about high winds and fire danger, dismissed it, and went to Africa? What other city's mayor allowed their residents' homes to burn down and blamed it on climate change? What other city's mayor is pushing for healthcare for the homeless drug addicts so that methheads can get their teeth fixed?

No, my dear, Los Angeles is uniquely angry, and uniquely awful, and that awfulness has increased exponentially in the four years Bass has been in City Hall. Another Spencer Pratt fan has tapped into the awfulness that is Karen Bass, as well as the connection that Pratt has to the people of L.A. and their concerns with another banger AI ad.

But Bass is gonna Karen. She remains abysmal because she can only be who she is: forever tone deaf and totally lacking in self-awareness. After the May 6 debate, where she sputtered and stuttered, the dimwitted Mayor of L.A. accused Pratt of capitalizing on people's grief, then blamed the climate and an "unprecedented weather event" for the Palisades Fire.

Karen Bass is now blaming “climate change” for the Palisades fires.

Her own incompetence, cuts to the fire department’s budget, poor forest management, and empty water reservoirs are to blame.

This disgraceful response from Bass should be enough for voters to reject her at the ballot box.

So, Spencer Pratt doesn't have to try and tap into a "general" anger; the majority of Los Angeles has been there for a long time, and Pratt is simply amplifying their voices. But he is not the only one.

One activist, known as William Gude, crashed a groundbreaking ceremony where Karen Bass was scheduled to put in an appearance. The ceremony was for a new interim housing project in East Hollywood as part of Bass' "Inside Safe" program to house the "unhoused."

Gude is nowhere near right-of-center, nor does he support Spencer Pratt. His X account says he is a "copwatcher" who is calling for accountability from the Los Angeles Police Department. But with the mayor's race heating up, he has his sights trained on Karen Bass, her profligate spending and her refusal to be called to account for her horrific record. Gude shouted over the happy talk and disrupted Karen Bass' remarks as he excoriated and berated Bass for her lack of leadership and the millions of dollars she's wasted on Inside Safe.

It was pretty epic.

Early voting has already begun in Los Angeles, and the undecided voters are starting to coalesce. An Emerson College/Inside California Politics poll shows Spencer Pratt has overtaken District 4 City Councilwoman and mayoral candidate Nithya Raman to take second place, just eight percentage points behind Karen Bass. While Bass saw a bump after she was endorsed by Kamala Harris, the fact that Pratt is hot on her heels has to be disconcerting, to say the least.

An Emerson College Polling/Inside California Politics poll found that 30% of voters support incumbent Mayor Karen Bass, which is up from 20% in March. The poll follows a recent win for Bass: a reported endorsement from former Vice President Kamala Harris.

The poll, which was released on Wednesday, May 13, and conducted several days prior, showed that other candidates have also enjoyed similar growth in support. However, it’s Spencer Pratt, the former reality TV star turned Bass adversary, who saw the largest increase among his fellow candidates; 22% support the former “The Hills” star in May compared to 10% in March.

Meanwhile, 19% support Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman, which is up from 9% in March.

Having once lived in Los Angeles and seen its decline, it's a wonder why people are not angrier. What is necessary is for voters to turn their anger toward the polls and vote Karen Bass out.

ESPN Host Couldn't Let This Caller Get Away With This Swipe at Conservatives

Love him or hate him—ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith was right here. He shut down a caller who claimed that MAGA supporters are mentally ill. If you’ve seen him on that network, you know he gets fired up when he's passionate about something. He couldn’t let this go:

SMITH: "Nope, nope, nope, don't talk to me about mental illness on the side of the right — but you have people talking about transgender without parental consent!"

"And men transitioning to women and playing in women's sports, and thinking that that was OK!"

"And people could be incarcerated and they could have sex changes and stuff like that. Oh, no, no, no!"

"You don't get to sit up there and just point to the right about that and not act like there wasn't craziness on the left too."

"[Democrats are] turning your back on black folks who supported you since the 60s. Don't get me started with all of that!"

"The extreme left is a damn problem! That's why 77 million people said Donald Trump is closer to normalcy than some of those folks!

And yes, he’s not a conservative. He’s been honest about that. He’s a classic liberal, but he also recognizes that his side has lost its way. The funny part is that Smith would be labeled a Nazi on the Left for these sensible views. That’s how crazy this is. J.K. Rowling, who leans more left, has been ostracized over transgender issues. It’s madness.

The GOP’s Midterm Reversal of Fortune

The GOP’s Midterm Reversal of Fortune

Winston Churchill once observed that there’s nothing quite like the feeling of being shot at and missed. The Republicans are enjoying that glorious sensation as we speak. Thanks to redistricting decisions in various courts as well as some surprising examples of GOP manhood in their wake, it looks like November is a jump ball. The midterms were supposed to be a rendezvous with disaster, and historically, the tides are still against us. But Democrats have just had the miserable experience of discovering that fate is fickle. Recent events have made it so that Republicans have a fighting chance, and our joy and relief that we’re not necessarily destined for doom is amplified by our delight in hearing Democrats squeal in agony as all their dreams die.

And that’s only the beginning of their pain. The 2026 midterms were going to be a small blip of hope for them before the Democrat success trend line dropped like Swalwell’s pants in the presence of a hard-five Chinese spy. Continuing population shifts will favor the Republicans. For example, migration from traditionally blue cities and states to more conservative red states will increase Republican representation in the House, as red states gain seats due to their population growth and Dems lose them as their future voter base gets deported. This shift will also result in more Electoral College votes for Republicans,  strengthening their position in the coming presidential elections. The future is so bright, the GOP’s gotta wear shades.

But, as long as the Democrats keep wearing those p-hats and the occasional Nazi tattoo, they’re going to keep losing. The South is nearly solid red. Republican legislatures are eliminating many of the racist, reserved Democrat districts (though soft Republicans might spare some districts for now, when the GOP pols get Indianaed next primary season, they’ll get harder). These weren’t black districts. They were Democrat districts. But it’s nice to see Democrats pretend to be interested in their black voter base after years of snubbing them in favor of illegal aliens, Muslims, and perverts, who all rank higher on the Leftist Pyramid ‘O Oppression.

If the Democrats were smart and more cunning than ideologically committed, they could turn this misfortune into a way to make a comeback. It’s an opportunity, if they can take it.

What’s that opportunity? Well, when you have districts that are essentially reserved for Democrats where there’s no chance of Republicans ever getting elected, there’s no need to moderate. There’s no need to talk to anyone who’s not communist or communist-adjacent, and they haven’t been. For years, there’s been absolutely no genuine outreach by Democrats to normal Americans. That weird sour apple doll-faced CIA agent Abigail Spanberger tried to fake it, but her mask – put it back on, please! – came off the instant she swore in. She ran as a moderate and governed as a Marxist.

And you see how that has gone.

The Democrats are going to face a choice, particularly in the South, where they soon won’t be able to count on sure-fire wins. They’re now going to have to compete for the votes of normal people if they want any seats at all, but how do you compete for the votes of normal people when you’re pushing bespoke Bolshevik baloney? Carving up kids to conform to the delusions of their Münchhausen mommies? Importing most of the Third World and paying them to be here? Allowing criminals to run rampant? More taxes for freeloading bums, as well as public employee unions, though I repeat myself.

Normal people don’t want that.

But what if there was a Democrat who could say “No” to the most extreme nonsense? There was such a Democrat. You’ve got to go back almost 35 years, but there he was. Bill Clinton.

Bill Clinton - Wikipedia

Do you remember how he stood by Americans who wanted to work hard and play by the rules? How he wanted abortion to be safe, legal, and rare? How he thought criminals should go to jail and people shouldn’t be on welfare forever? That’s all a Dem anathema now, but it would be hugely popular if they brought it back, and it would allow cover for the other liberal things they want. Bill Clinton was no conservative, but don’t confuse him with his clueless wife. He understood that for a Democrat to succeed, he had to make the Democrat Party safe for normal people to raise their families and walk the streets.

It’s strange that the most despised Democrat today is not the guy with a Nazi tattoo or the avowed socialist or the fake Indian. It’s the Democrat from a swing state who says America should defeat its enemies, that crime is bad, and that maybe it’s a bad idea to have wide-open borders. They despise Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA),

May be an image of text that says 'FUROAN SHAYK NEWS SEN. JOHN FETTERMAN DEFENDS ERIKA KIRK AFTER VIRAL EMOTIONAL WHCA VIDEO MOMENT'

but you know who doesn’t despise John Fetterman? The people of Pennsylvania who elected him.

Now, imagine some southern Democrats who are willing to say things like “America is the best country on earth,” "It’s bad to trash our ally Israel to please the Jew-hating freaks in our party, "Criminals should be in jail," and "Unionized teachers need to perform adequately before they get any more money." That guy is going to get a hearing. People are going to listen to him. And when he gets elected, and he might, and he actually governs that way, he’s going to be able to slip in a lot of liberal things that we Republicans can’t stand.

Let’s not fool ourselves. Republicans aren’t winning elections because they’re personally popular. Most Americans despise all politicians. Republicans are winning elections because, in large part, Democrats embrace insane freaky weirdness that repels normal people. But people may well accept a lot of the things Democrats want that are terrible – like single-payer healthcare, as awful as that is – if it’s pushed by someone they trust not to let their children be molested or their savings pillaged. Fortunately, that’s going to be hard for Democrats to do. That’s because their ideology isn’t just a political viewpoint. It’s their substitute for religion. Their bizarre belief system in things like the angry weather gods and structural racism and all the rest are what fill up that space that normal people fill with Faith, Family, and The Flag. You can’t be normal in the Democrat Party. You can’t say, “No, maybe it’s a bad idea to kill an eight-month fetus because mommy feels like it.” You can’t say, “Most derelicts and bums are drug-addicted losers, criminals, or insane people who either need to be in treatment or jail, and they can’t live on our streets and pollute them with needles and hobo droppings.” You can’t say, “No woman has ever had a penis.” You can’t say absolutely true things that everybody knows are true because other Democrats won’t tolerate it, and that makes you untrustworthy to normal people, as it should. But what if they did?

What if you had a Democrat who stood up and refused to genuflect at the altar of Left-Wing weirdness?

Well, then we would have a problem as Republicans. But for now, we don’t have to worry. With the Democrats contorting themselves like yogis to explain why the guy with a Nazi tattoo is cool but the dude who made the OK sign is Hitler, they’re doing our work for us. It may not be that the Republicans are about to enter a winning streak; it may be that the Democrats are about to enter a losing streak. And, fortunately for us, it’s the Democrats who will keep that streak going.

Americans keep moving to Texas and Florida — but one other red state is growing even faster

Richland | Historic Sites, Plantations, Rivers | Britannica

Texas and Florida are drawing the largest number of new residents, but South Carolina is growing faster than any other state as Americans continue to relocate across the country, according to new IRS data.

The trend highlights a broader shift toward the South, as Americans say they're making the move for lower taxes, more jobs and higher quality of life.

For its size, South Carolina is seeing the biggest influx per capita of new residents from other states, equal to just over 1% of its population. In other words, for every 100 people living in the state, one new person moved in from elsewhere in the country.

THIS STATE ISN’T JUST GROWING — ITS ECONOMY IS GETTING RICHER PER RESIDENT

The Palmetto State added more than 59,000 residents from other states between 2022 and 2023, based on the most recently available IRS data.

The movement isn’t just about people. It’s also about income.

With the influx of residents, South Carolina gained more than 29,000 new tax filers and roughly $4.1 billion in income. This shift is likely to boost local economies in the state as new residents bring spending power and help fill open jobs in growing industries.

Zooming out, Texas and Florida are still drawing the most people overall because they’re much bigger states by size and population, so even smaller increases add up to larger total gains.

Texas led the nation in new residents with 56,473 new tax filers in 2023, followed closely by Florida with 55,349, according to the data.

The gains come as some of the nation’s most expensive states, which are run by Democrats, are seeing the biggest losses. California is down more than 100,000 tax filers and New York by nearly 72,000 from 2022 to 2023.

CALIFORNIA’S LOOMING CAPITAL FLIGHT PROBLEM COULD RESHAPE STATE IN 3 KEY AREAS

A home is seen in Beaufort, South Carolina.

South Carolina saw an increase of 29,000 new tax filers, according to the latest IRS data. (Wolfgang Kaehler/LightRocket/Getty Images)

The income losses mirror the population decline, with California losing nearly $12 billion and New York about $10 billion — especially as some of their highest earners relocate.

Taken together, the shifts suggest Americans aren’t just moving — they’re redistributing income and economic power.

If the trend continues, it could further reshape population growth and state economies in the years ahead.

'Vote the bum out:' Trump calls for Ky. voters to oust Rep. Thomas Massie

Heaping on to his rhetoric against several GOP lawmakers, President Donald Trump bashed Congressman Thomas Massie, asking Kentucky voters to oust him in the upcoming election.

Highlighting the U.S. representative’s voting record, Trump called for Massie (R-Ky.) to be voted out ahead of Tuesday’s primary election in the Bluegrass State.

“Bad Congressman Tom Massie voted against Tax Cuts, the Border Wall, our Military and Law Enforcement. Actually, he voted against almost everything that is good,” Trump said.

“The Worst Republican Congressman in History. Kentucky, vote the bum out on Tuesday. We can’t live with this troublemaker for another two years. He is a true negative force,” the president continued.

In an earlier post, Trump further ripped into Massie, as well as Senator Bill Cassidy (R-La.).

Following heated criticism from Trump, Cassidy lost his primary election on Saturday. However, Trump labeled Massie as “even worse” than Cassidy, calling him a “major Sleazebag.”

“Kentucky, get this LOSER out of politics in Tuesday’s Election. He is nicknamed Rand Paul Jr., another real ‘beauty,’ because of his absolutely terrible voting habits,” the commander-in-chief said.

He reemphasized his endorsement for Ed Gallrein, who is running against Massie in the primary for Kentucky’s 4th congressional district.

“Vote for Ed Gallrein, a successful Kentucky farmer, and American War Hero, who only ran because he thought that Massie was so disloyal and disrespectful to your President, ME!” the president said.

Massie and Cassidy were not the only Republican lawmakers to receive the president’s ire. On Saturday, the president voiced an open call for a competitor to run against “weak minded” U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), who previously had received Trump’s endorsement.

“Is anyone interested in running against Weak Minded Lauren Boebert in Colorado’s Fourth Congressional District?” Trump asked.

“Boebert is campaigning for the Worst ‘Republican’ Congressman in the History of our Country, Thomas Massie, of the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky, and anybody who can be that dumb deserves a good Primary fight!” he continued.

“Even though I long ago endorsed Boebert, if the right person came along, it would be my Honor to withdraw that Endorsement, and endorse a good and proper alternative. Just let me know, or announce your Candidacy, and I will be there for you!” he concluded.

Boebert, who appears to be running unopposed in Colorado’s June 30th primary, reportedly traveled to Kentucky to campaign for Massie ahead of the Tuesday election. Despite the president’s criticism, Boebert took to X to defend her actions.

“Yes, I saw the President’s post. No, I’m not mad or offended. I knew the risks when I agreed to stand by my friend Thomas Massie. I was, and will be, America First, America Always, and MAGA,” she said.

Trump reads Bible passage for 'Rededicate 250' prayer event in Washington D.C.

Attendees watch a pre-recorded video of US President Donald Trump reading from the Bible during “Rededicate 250: A National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise and Thanksgiving” on the National Mall in Washington, DC, on May 17, 2026.

Addressing a crowd of thousands, President Donald Trump read a Bible passage at the “Rededicate 250” prayer event on the National Mall in Washington D.C.

As part of the ongoing, nationwide celebrations for America’s 250th anniversary, the all-day Sunday event hailed itself as a “national jubilee of prayer, praise and thanksgiving,” and featured a number of Republican politicians, faith leaders and others scheduled to speak.

In a pre-recorded video, Trump read a Bible passage from the book of 2 Chronicles concerning King Solomon’s dedication of the temple and God’s response. Solomon, the successor of King David, was a king in ancient Israel known for his wisdom, as well as for building the ornate temple and royal palace in Jerusalem.

“‘I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself for a house of sacrifice…if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land,'” Trump said, quoting chapter 7 of 2 Chronicles.

According to the “Rededicate 250” webpage, the event was to focus on three pillars for the day, which included recognizing God’s presence and works in the past, present and future of the nation.

“Rededicate 250 will be rooted in giving thanks for God’s presence in our national life throughout 250 years of American history and asking for his guidance for the next 250,” the website stated.

Several officials in Trump’s cabinet were also expected to address the crowd, including Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, who had recorded a video message played at the event.

Hegseth referenced George Washington’s example of prayer, according to Fox News.

“Let us pray as he did. Let us pray without ceasing. Let us pray for our nation on bended knee. And let us ask our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as Washington did on that momentous day,” he said.

Trump Pushes SAVE America Act in Housing, FISA Bills

Trump Pushes SAVE America Act in Housing, FISA Bills

President Donald Trump on Saturday renewed his push for the SAVE America Act, urging Congress to attach the election-security measure to pending housing and Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act legislation while alleging widespread problems with mail-in voting.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump declared: "THE SAVE AMERICA ACT MUST BE PASSED, NOW. Use the Housing and FISA Bills to get it done!"

Trump also claimed that Maryland had "500,000 Fake Mail-In Ballots revealed," though he did not provide evidence or additional details to support the allegation.

"We cannot, as a Country, put up with this any longer!!!" Trump wrote. "Voter I.D., and Proof of Citizenship, must be approved, NOW. Crooked Mail-In Voting must be stopped!!!"

The president's latest comments come as Republicans continue pushing the SAVE America Act, legislation that would require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.

Trump and GOP allies have argued the bill is needed to strengthen election integrity and prevent noncitizen voting.

Critics, including voting rights organizations and congressional Democrats, have argued the legislation could make voting more difficult for some Americans, including married women whose names have changed and voters who do not readily possess citizenship documents such as passports or birth certificates.

Federal law prohibits noncitizens from voting in U.S. federal elections, with penalties including fines and up to one year in prison.

Trump has increasingly tied passage of the SAVE America Act to broader legislative negotiations.

Earlier this year, he warned that the bill should "go to the front of the line" and suggested he would withhold support for other measures until Congress acts on election security legislation.

The president has repeatedly called for stricter voter-identification requirements, proof of citizenship and limits on mail-in voting, making election security a central issue in his administration's domestic agenda.
