Sheehy, Hegseth Impress With Hilarious Exchange at Hearing, Also Shows Pete Has Most Important Quality

There were a lot of rancorous moments during the confirmation hearing on Tuesday for SecDef nominee Pete Hegseth.

There were some truly vile moments, such as when Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA), who looked like the Joker, invoked Hegseth's young daughter in an effort to attack him. Then there were the wild rants from some of the Democratic women, including Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY).

But they really weren't able to lay a glove on him and at this point, he seems likely to be confirmed.

But one of the most interesting exchanges was with new Sen. Tim Sheehy (R-MT),

Republican challenger to Tester leans ...

who was able to unseat Jon Tester in Big Sky Country, and he was impressive in his questioning of Hegseth. It was hilarious, but it also got to the most important quality that a SecDef needs to have.

SENATOR TIM SHEEHY: How many genders are there?

HEGSETH: Two.

SHEEHY: I know that well, I'm a "she-he (Sheehy)." What is the diameter of a rifle round fired out of an M4A1?

HEGSETH: 5.56.

SHEEHY: How many pushups can you do?

HEGSETH: I did 5 sets of 47 this morning.

SHEEHY: Most important strategic base is in the Pacific?

HEGSETH: Guam.

SHEEHY: How many rounds of 5.56 can you fit into the magazine of an M4 rifle?

HEGSETH: Standard issue is 30.

SHEEHY: What size round is the M9 Beretta standard issue sidearm for the military?

HEGSETH: 9mm.

SHEEHY: What kind of batteries do you put in your night vision goggle?

HEGSETH: Duracell.

SHEEHY: You represent what warfighters deal with every day on the battlefield. You understand them. What happens is - decisions made in rooms like this cause d*ad 17, 18, 19-year-old Americans. Your priority is warfighters. I support you.

The "she/he" take is pretty funny, given the senator's name.

There has been all kinds of palaver about Hegseth's qualifications. But indeed, he has the most important quality that seems to have been missing for a long time -- will he have the backs of the warfighters? That's the bottom line. He's been on the line, he knows the questions, and he knows the answers. But most importantly, he's committed to doing the best he can for the warfighters, not the military-industrial complex.

As Hegseth said in his opening statement.

It is true that I don’t have a similar biography to Defense Secretaries of the last 30 years. But, as President Trump also told me, we’ve repeatedly placed people atop the Pentagon with supposedly “the right credentials”—whether they are retired generals, academics, or defense contractor executives—and where has it gotten us? He believes, and I humbly agree, that it’s time to give someone with dust on his boots the helm. A change agent. Someone with no vested interest in certain companies or specific programs or approved narratives.

SICK: Despite Ceasefire Agreement, New Hamas Leader Yearns for Another Oct. 7

On Wednesday, we reported that Israel and Hamas had reached a tentative ceasefire deal, which will result in the release of some of the terror group’s hostages. Debate has raged in the ensuing hours over whether it is a good deal for Israel and which American commander-in-chief deserves the credit: lame-duck President Joe Biden or incoming President-elect Donald Trump.

Will it work?

BREAKING: Israel, Hamas Agree on Ceasefire, Hostage Deal

Arab Leaders Praise Trump for Accomplishing More in One Meeting Than Woeful Biden Did All Year

While we certainly hope for the release of all the hostages taken in Hamas’ savage Oct. 7, 2023 attack, their newest chief is sounding anything but peaceful. In fact, despite the deal being reached, Hamas leader Khalil al-Haya

Khalil al-Hayya | ECFR

delivered a sick, bloodthirsty call for more violence and said he was “proud” of Oct. 7.

His words are deeply disturbing:

Hamas Leader Khalil al-Haya allegedly promised another October 7 style attack during a press conference Wednesday just after a tentative ceasefire was announced, according to multiple reports.

Al-Haya said that the Oct. 7 attacks on Israel “will forever be a source of pride for our people” and expressed no regret for the destruction caused by the terrorist group, according to multiple sources. As of Wednesday afternoon, a six-week ceasefire is set to begin on Sunday, with both sides set to exchange hostages and Israeli troops withdrawing from Gaza.

They will do it again and again.

Al-Haya only recently was promoted to lead the terrorist organization after several former bosses were sent to the afterlife by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). One can hope that Al-Haya has just signed his own death warrant with the announcement, as IDF will almost certainly set their sights on him.

Bye: WILD: Incredible Footage Shows Hamas Leader Yahya Sinwar Up-Close and Personal Just Before His Death

(Updated) Reports Out of Gaza Confirm That Oct. 7 Mastermind Yahya Sinwar Has Been Eliminated

The message continues to be delivered over and over again—usually by Hamas itself—that a civilized world cannot exist alongside such a barbaric death cult that believes in sadistic violence over everything else. Joe Biden could never wrap his head around this, but hopefully incoming President Donald Trump does understand it. While it would be beautiful to see some of the hostages released, the fact that the terrorists still hold them after all this time shows the depths of their depravity.

The reality is that there will be no true peace until these maniacal zealots are wiped off the face of the earth.

California Politicians Cut Fire Department Funding Because of These Three Things

There’s going to be hearings about the Los Angeles County fires. Some investigation must be conducted to expose the shambolic response and maybe draft a new plan of attack concerning wildfires in the area before they become massive infernos. This fire is likely to become the costliest natural disaster in American history. It was preventable, but climate change loons and the overall strangeness of California residents prevented the state from enacting common fire prevention protocols; one is clearing brush and dry vegetation in fire-prone areas like under the power lines.

The Santa Ynez reservoir hasn’t been full since last February; this could have been a crucial water source in the still raging and out-of-control Palisades fire. Tens of millions of dollars were cut from the Los Angeles Fire Department despite warnings and its impact on emergency response. LA Mayor Karen Bass’ office also scrubbed a memo about the lack of manpower and deficient training. The funding cuts had to be done because the state is addicted to coddling the homeless, illegal aliens, and climate change. And everyone is now paying for that gross incompetence (via Public):

And now a video released yesterday by NewsNation, which was shot by a former employee of Kamala Harris, shows that it took the LA Fire Department 45 minutes to respond to the Pacific Palisades fire. “It could have been confined,” said attorney Michael Valentine. “It wouldn’t have touched any of the homes.”

[…]

“ By 10:50, the plume had spread considerably, twice as large,” reported Rich McHugh. “Eight minutes later, the size of the fire seems to have doubled yet again. Still nobody fighting the fire.  At 11:13 a.m., nearly 45 minutes after Michael's wife called in the fire, you see a chopper come through at 11:23. A helicopter comes in, begins to dump water on it. But at this point, the fire is massive and moving quickly down this ridgeline.”

And now, a second firefighter has come forward to say that “There wasn’t sufficient funding for predeployment and I’m sure that played a role. The fire prevention department has taken huge cuts too and it limited their resources.” Specifically, this person said, “There were not enough mechanics, engines, or fire stations.”

LA has been cutting the budget of the LA Fire Department for years, leading to rising response times.”You’re supposed to be in route in 30 seconds and there in three to five minutes, but now it’s 10 minutes and on the extreme end 30 minutes,” said the firefighter. “The other day they had a cardiac arrest call that took 30 minutes and there was a pediatric call two weeks ago and the station that was available was very far away and it took them a long time to get to the kid.”

The whistleblower said staffing and equipment shortages create two tragedies. The first are unnecessary deaths and the second is the impact on the firefighters. “They just can’t make it to places fast enough and it’s a hazard to the public,” said the whistleblower. “A family member is dying and it’s 30 minutes to show up and then they’re yelling at the firefighters who are trying to do their job but there’s not enough of them. Some of that stuff really affects them.”

The LA Fire Department budget is $820 million and significantly more is needed. The number of calls LA firefighters make in a year has tripled over the last 30 years while staffing has declined by one-third, according to another whistleblower. The LA Firefighters are currently owed significant backpay and have filed a lawsuit against the city.

Said the whistleblower, “Nobody understands why this is going on. Why is there no money? Why can’t we pay people? We’re 80 fire stations short. Why aren’t we building them? Why aren’t we paying firefighters their contracted wages?”

[…]

While California’s firefighting budget rose since 2018, it was, obviously, not enough. And California’s nonpartisan Legislative Analyst Office reported that Governor Gavin Newsom slashed funding by $101 Million in the 2024 budget and cut millions for prescribed burns, forest fire monitoring, and $12 million for home hardening.

And the state funding that Newsom cut could have been used to harden homes to fire and reduce vegetation around homes in LA. Bass proposed cutting the Fire Department’s funding by an additional $48.8 million next year.

The priorities of the leaders of California and Los Angeles over the last decade have been homelessness, climate change, and providing services to undocumented migrants,

Since 2019, California has invested $27 billion in homelessness, or about 4.5 billion per year. That amount does not include spending on firefighting, police, or emergency medical services for the homeless. Nor does it include the $40 billion the state spent on affordable housing.

California spends over $30 billion per year to provide benefits and services to migrants who came to the US illegally, according to a recent cost analysis by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). The California Budget and Policy Center estimates that they contribute up to $9 billion annually in state and local taxes.

And California will spend over $48 billion on climate programs over the next seven years, or about seven billion annually.

This is the 'fall of Rome' stage in Sacramento and California. Too many years of de facto single-party rule led to this catastrophe. Feelings and moral superiority complex antics also contributed to the mayhem. The LAFD also engaged in DEI nonsense and bias training when they should have been vetting people who wanted to join the department regardless of their race, religion, or ethnicity. No one cares what you are as long as you save their homes and lives from wildfires. There’s no bonus if a black lesbian does it.

The fact that most fires put out by LAFD, around half, are started by homeless people might be a clue as to how and why these latest fires keep popping up in the county. It should be investigated but won’t because the media is afraid to say so.

No one is arguing that if everything was funded, and then some, the current LA fires would’ve been prevented. That’s silly, but the blazes raging out of control as they are likely wouldn’t have happened. There would have been enough personnel, resources like water, and, hopefully, an evacuation plan. The latter is dubious, but resources and enough manpower have plagued the department for years. And enough with the wind, too. Local officials claim they were well prepared—they won’t—but the high winds made things go off the rails because they’ve never seen 100 mph winds before. There were 97 mph gusts recorded in the area in 2011.

Stop lying.

WaPo Columnist: CA Wildfires Is Going to Generate a Political Earthquake

Washington Post columnist George Will

President, GFW Inc.; Columnist, The ...

shocked his conservative readership when he announced he was backing Democrats in the past two elections, citing Donald Trump. Mr. Will is of the old school, and if you’ve read his columns for decades, you can tell this man was not one to hop on the MAGA train. It’s unfortunate, but at least he hasn’t gone the way of other anti-Trump Republicans, or at least isn’t as obnoxious about it. Will still delivers insightful analysis and had one about California that might be important to folks at the Republican National Committee.

The Los Angeles County fires continue to burn. At least 24 people have died, but the shambolic response, the cuts to the LAFD, and the basics not being honored regarding public safety might be the last straw. Will was on NewsNation with host Leland Vittert, where he thinks a political earthquake is about to shake-up the Golden State. He admits there is a caveat: California isn’t going Republican in national elections, but every other contest might be fair game. He also warned Kamala Harris, who might have gubernatorial aspirations, to wait and see how things shake out

GEORGE WILL: You are, and there's going to be an earthquake coming in California, the big real earthquake, every once in a while. I mean, we've built a major metropolitan area in a desert on a tectonic fault. We're risking things.

You ask for trouble in this naughty world, you get trouble. But there's going to be a political earthquake from this, Leland. The California government is so busy micromanaging life from algebra classes in schools to the names of the schools, you name it, just protecting endangered species, doing all these things.

And people are going to say, can we get the basic things right? Public safety, basic elementary...

VITTERT: The fire hydrant's working. Adam Carolla, of all people, the comedian, had some thoughts on the political earthquake. Take a listen.

[…]

VITTERT: California really is not going to go red.

WILL: It's not going to go red in presidential elections, but this is a tremendous opportunity for someone. And if Kamala Harris thinks that she can now, with her funding base and her name recognition, waltz into Sacramento as governor of California, she might want to think again.

VITTERT: Well, that's an excellent point in terms of what her priorities are. The famous line from Joe Biden, right, show me your budget and I'll tell you your priorities. We can see it.

They were not testing fire hydrants because they didn't have the money, but they kept their DEI office and other things. There is going to be a special session of the California state legislature in the coming days, not to deal with the wildfires, but to authorize more money to fight Donald Trump. What is going to be the consequence, you said one for Kamala Harris, but for Gavin Newsom?

WILL: This is really just the last straw, but there's a mountain of straws about his record in California that has produced this enormous flight away from California. California, after the 2030 census, is apt to lose four, perhaps five electoral votes, five congressional seats. Leland, this is for the first time ever, California, since the 1840s, is losing population. And it's not just losing it, it's hemorrhaging population.

We’ll see if that happens, but the population bleeding and the state’s loss of congressional districts and electoral votes is going to make things interesting.

Mayor Karen Bass, who was excoriated for not being in the country when the fires broke out, opting to attend the Ghanian presidential inauguration, got further embarrassed when it was discovered she was at an embassy cocktail party when the blaze began to engulf southern California. She partied while the state burned carries a Nero-esque theme, doesn’t it. To make things worse, when asked, she has no regrets about leaving the country, even when it was clear there was a wildfire risk.

Bass’ office cut the LAFD by $17 million months before the fires, scrubbed memos about the lack of training, manpower, and resources that will denigrate response to disasters. And Gov. Gavin Newsom cutting part-time firefighters and not replacing them while also not filling crucial reservoirs, like the one in Santa Ynez, which could’ve helped in the still raging Palisades blaze.

It's a clown show.

Michigan: Gov. Whitmer Seeks Compromise with Trump, Claims Red States Aim To Undermine Auto Industry

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer speaks at a rally before Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris takes to the stage to speak on October 18, 2024 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Harris will also be campaigning in Lansing, Oakland County, and Detroit over the next two days as Michigan is considered a key battleground state holding 14 electoral votes.

Michigan Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer urged a new beginning with President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday, citing the looming threat of Republican-led competitors to “steal” her state’s vital auto sector.

In remarks at the Detroit Auto Show, Whitmer (D-Mich.), who is widely regarded by political analysts as a “leading candidate” for the Democrat presidential nominee position in 2028, urged her Republican “friends” and “fellow Democrats” to “find common ground.”

“In the Whitmer house, compromise was a good thing,” the 53-year-old Democrat governor said. “I just want to get things done. Things that make a real difference in Michiganders’ lives.”

“Michiganders elected both me and Donald Trump twice, just two years apart,” she added. “The people expect us to find common ground, especially when it comes to lowering costs, creating good-paying manufacturing jobs, boosting research and innovation and cutting red tape.”

Whitmer won re-election by a margin of double digits in 2022.

On Wednesday, Whitmer admitted that she needed Republican help during a “serious moment.”

“Right now, the future of the entire auto industry is at stake. The very core of Michigan’s economy is on the line,” she declared.

“Michigan is still the number one auto state, but others have gained grounds, especially in the South. They want to steal this vital industry away from us,” she continued. “These other states are using every tool at their disposal. Some of them are just writing blank checks to companies. That’s bad policy.”

Republican governors have been actively luring heavy industry from the Rust Belt for years, offering a business-friendly, low-tax climate to entice companies to locate there.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and incoming DOGE leader, has also moved some of the company’s operations to red states like Texas.

“Make no mistake, other states and nations like China are gunning for Michigan auto jobs,” Whitmer claimed. “For America to win, we must all recognize that all of us are on the same team. Both our state and national economy depend on our ability to work together.”

With tariffs as his primary tool, Trump has expressed a strong desire to shield American industries from international competition, notably those in China.

Whitmer, who vigorously supported Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024, walked a tightrope when it came to tariffs, arguing that the auto industry might suffer as a result.

“I’m not opposed to tariffs outright. We cannot treat them like a one-size-fits-all solution, and we certainly shouldn’t use them to punish our closest trading partners. Doing so hurts all of us, damaging supply chains, slowing production loads and cutting jobs on both sides,” she said.

Although she hasn’t spoken with Trump yet, the governor of the Wolverine State previously told the Associated Press that she plans to do so in the upcoming weeks.

She listed five strategies to support the auto industry, such as lowering payroll taxes, increasing development and housing investments, and enhancing infrastructure.

“I don’t want to pretend we’re always going to agree, but I will always seek collaboration first. I won’t go looking for fights. I won’t back down from them either. So I’m not here to play games,” she said.

Whitmer actively dispelled reports that she was a candidate for Harris’ seat during the 2024 campaign and had issued a warning against a second Trump presidency. Whitmer’s future is also uncertain since she is term-limited and cannot run for governor for an additional four years in 2026.

Biden Delivered Farewell Address To The Nation, Warns Of ‘Oligarchy’

US President Joe Biden clasps his hands as he delivers his farewell address to the nation from the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, DC, on January 15, 2025.

President Joe Biden has addressed the nation and delivered his farewell address from the Oval Office.

On Wednesday, Biden addressed the nation one last time as the sitting president before inauguration events begin for President-elect Donald Trump.

“This will be my final address to you, the American people, from the Oval Office, from this desk as president,” he said. “And I’ve been thinking a lot about who we are, and maybe more importantly, who we should be.”

“In the past four years, our democracy has held strong, and every day I’ve kept my commitment to be president for all Americans through one of the toughest periods in our nation’s history,” he continued.

Biden began his farewell by announcing a ceasefire and hostage release deal between Israel and Hamas.

“This plan was developed and negotiated by my team, and it will be largely implemented by the incoming administration. That’s why I told my team to keep the incoming administration fully informed — because that’s how it should be — working together as Americans.”

Biden then moved on to telling Americans that he wanted to use his final address “to warn the country of some things that give me great concern.”

“I am worried about a dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a very few ultra-wealthy people, the dangerous consequences if their abuse of power is left unchecked,” he said.

“Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead,” Biden said.

He continued, claiming that the consequences could be seen across the country. It was, he said, something that had happened over a century earlier, but “the American people stood up to the robber barons back then.”

Biden also spoke about the history of the country and the Statue of Liberty. He mentioned how Lady Liberty is “an enduring symbol of the soul of our nation.”

Biden also argued that he will leave the country better off in terms of the economy, pointing to his efforts to lower drug prices, the enactment of the bipartisan infrastructure law. He also claimed that unemployment levels have remained low during his term.

He called Vice President Harris a great partner in that effort, and said that she and her husband, Doug Emhoff, have become “like family.”

He also pointed to social media as he reflected on the things that concern him as his presidency comes to a close.

“I’m equally concerned about the potential rise of a tech industrial complex that could pose real dangers for our country, as well,” he said.

“Americans are being buried under an avalanche of misinformation and disinformation, enabling the abuse of power. The free press is crumbling, editors are disappearing, he added.

“Social media is giving up on fact checking. The truth is smothered by lies told for power and for profit. We must hold the social platforms accountable to protect our children, our families and our democracy from the abuse of power,” he urged.

Biden also warned about the “profound possibilities and risks” that come with artificial intelligence.

“Artificial intelligence is the most consequential technology of our time, perhaps of all time. Nothing offers more profound possibilities and risks for our economy and our security, our society, for humanity. Artificial intelligence even has the potential to help us answer my call to end cancer as we know it. But unless safeguards are in place, AI could spawn new threats to our rights, our way of life, to our privacy, how we work and how we protect our nation,” he said.

Biden added that it should be ensured that AI works for our benefit, and that America leads its development.

” In the age of AI, it’s more important than ever that the people must govern. And as the land of liberty, America — not China — must lead the world in the development of AI,” he added.

While reflecting on his “legacy,” Biden expressed that he hopes his memory will endure.

“It will take time to feel the full impact of what we’ve done together. But the seeds are planted and they’ll grow and they’ll bloom for decades to come,” he said.

Biden wished the incoming administration “success,” reiterating that he wants the U.S. to succeed, and he pledged “to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition of power.”

“Now it’s your turn to stand guard. May you all be the keeper of the flame. May you keep the faith. I love America. You love it too. God bless you all. And may god protect our troops. Thank you for this great honor,” Biden ended.

Sen. Cruz Rips Move to Lift Cuba Terror Designation

Sen. Cruz Rips Move to Lift Cuba's Label as Sponsor of Terror

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, whose father was tortured and imprisoned in Cuba before fleeing to the U.S., condemned the Biden administration's announcement Tuesday that it will lift the U.S. designation of the Communist-led island nation as a state sponsor of terrorism.

It is the latest in a number of environmental, immigration, and foreign-policy decisions the Biden administration has taken in its final days before President-elect Donald Trump returns to the White House on Monday.

"Today's decision is unacceptable on its merits," Cruz said in a news release. "The terrorism advanced by the Cuban regime has not ceased. I will work with President Trump and my colleagues to immediately reverse and limit the damage from the decision."

The Biden administration's decision reportedly is part of an effort pushed by the Catholic Church to free "a significant number of political prisoners" under an agreement with the church, including an unspecified number "before the end of the Biden administration on Jan. 20."

"Obama-Biden officials are continuing their legacy of closing out administrations with rank appeasement of the Cuban regime," Cruz said. "They push these policies both because they believe in them and to undermine the incoming Trump administration and Republican Congress."

Cuba was first designated a terrorist state by the U.S. in 1982 during the Reagan administration. To normalize relations, former President Barack Obama removed the designation in 2015, but Trump put Cuba back on the list in the waning days of his first term for harboring U.S. and foreign fugitives.

The decision likely will be reversed when Trump begins his second term, especially given that Secretary of State nominee Marco Rubio, a former Republican senator from Florida who is of Cuban heritage, has been a proponent of sanctioning Cuba.

"These moves do incredible damage to American national security and send a message to our adversaries that they can rely on outgoing Democrat administrations — and wait out pressure from Republican administrations — to continue engaging in terrorism and other aggression against Americans," Cruz said.

What the Heck? Gavin Newsom Shimmy Dances and Grins at Reporters As He Addresses Catastrophic Wildfires

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has been taking a lot of heat—deservedly so—for the Golden State’s preparation for and reaction to the devastating wildfires that have torched the Los Angeles area. He was caught in an embarrassing fact check on live TV about a reservoir that was actually empty even though he had just said they were all full, he’s been caught up in a donation scandal where he asked contributors to use the notorious Democrat fundraising machine ActBlue, he’s shown a lack of leadership by saying things like "the local folks are gonna figure that out" when asked about the fire hydrants that didn’t work, and so much more.

But on Monday, it just got plain weird.

To wit: as he was being interviewed about the catastrophe, surrounded by the destroyed homes of heartbroken residents, he flashed his pearly whites and began a weird shoulder-shifting dance. No really:

I’m sort of at a loss for words with this one. What was that? It’s not only behavior that is totally inappropriate for the situation, but it’s also downright bizarre.

Presidential material? I think not:

As CA Wildfires Torch His Political Career, Gavin Newsom Launches a Personal Fact-Check Site

Gavin Newsom Gets Nailed With a Brutal Fact-Check Live on Air About Fires

He was talking about the future of the destroyed neighborhood of Pacific Palisades, but frankly I’m not sure anybody heard what he was saying because they were wondering just what the hell he was doing:

While discussing the potential of property speculators swooping into the once coveted neighborhoods afflicted by the fires — Newsom grins ear-to-ear and does an effective shoulder shimmy while trying to calm residents’ fears.

“I was just talking to Josh Green, the governor of — down in Hawaii,” Newsom says with an apparent chuckle and toothy smile.

The well-gelled governor then shimmies his shoulders up and down while saying: “[Green] had some ideas about some land use concerns he has around speculators coming in, buying up properties and the like so we’re already working with our legal teams to move those things forward and we’ll be presenting those in a matter of days, not just weeks.”

The internet wasn’t about to let this one slide by, and creative (and funny) users didn’t disappoint. Perhaps Gavin thought he was auditioning for a bongo video?

Fox News contributor Raymond Arroyo, who also put this and another similar moment to music, had a good line when he asked, is he “auditioning for a boy band?”

I’m not going to speculate on what’s behind this strange behavior, but I can tell you this: as a resident of the City of Angels who knows a number of people who have lost their houses or who have been evacuated, it seems highly unseemly to me. I enjoy mocking Gov. Hair Gel, as many like to call him, because he deserves to be roundly mocked whenever possible. He has been failing this state for years, and he’s continuing to fail during these awful fires, and I do not forget that—even when there’s a comedy moment like the bongo-playing—we are living through a profound tragedy.

Sometimes when you want to cry, the only thing you can do is laugh.

‘Child, Listen’: Nancy Mace Challenges Jasmine Crockett to ‘Take It Outside’ After Dem Rep Mocks Her

Representatives Nancy Mace (R-SC) and Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) got into an incredibly heated exchange during a House Oversight Committee meeting on Tuesday.

The battle of words began during a discussion about civil rights and so-called transgender rights. It ended with an actual proposal to take the matter outside and settle it like women. (Which would be hard, considering anyone with the letter "D" next to their name is 1- Not a biologist, and 2- Therefore unable to define what an actual woman is).

Anyway, Crockett got the fireworks going when she mocked Mace's quest to remove biological men from women's bathrooms and/or sports.

“I can see that somebody’s (Mace's) campaign coffers really are struggling right now,” Crockett chided. “So she’s gonna keep saying trans, trans, trans, so that people will feel threatened.”

With a flip of the hair, the Texas Democrat patronized her colleague, saying, “And child, listen."

That prompted Mace

Nancy Mace - Wikipedia

to summarily blow a gasket.

"I am no child! Do not call me a child!” a peeved Mace shouted. “I am no child. Don’t even start. I am a grown woman. I am 47 years old.”

Crockett attempted to talk over Mace to no avail.

“You will not do that. I am not a child," the GOP congresswoman replied. "If you want to take it outside, we can do that.”

Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost (D-FL) tried to have Mace's comments stricken from the record, but House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) claimed it was merely an offer to settle the discussion over a "cup of coffee, or maybe a beer" outside the halls of Congress.

Jasmine Crockett Tried to Pick a Fight With Tom Homan Only to Get Nuked Back to Reality: 'Not Real Smart'

Jasmine Crockett's Remarks on the Census and Congressional Seats Has Jaws Dropping

Mace and Crockett kept up the war of words on X following the viral exchange, and neither seemed interested in hashing things out over a beer.

Crockett alleged that her Republican colleague had "threatened to physically fight me," while Mace countered, "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."

Also adding fuel to the fire was a statement by Crockett at the hearing in which she claimed fears of biological men in women's locker rooms were a "fantasy" and an instance of someone wanting to "be dramatic."

Mace, who was a victim of sexual assault as a teenager, took exception to the remarks.

This isn't the first time things have grown somewhat contentious between Mace and an activist in over their heads intellectually. Just last month, Capitol police arrested a pro-transgender advocate after he physically assaulted her.

Mace sustained minor injuries, requiring a brace for her wrist and ice for her arm, but was quick to assert her resilience, stating, “Your tr*ns violence and threats on my life will only make me double down. FAFO.”

33-year-old James McIntyre of Illinois was charged with assaulting a government official.

Nancy Mace Assaulted on Capitol Hill by Transgender Activist

Meanwhile, Crockett has been making a spectacle of herself in Congress, frequently and embarrassingly making radical statements that would make Joy Reid blush.

Just recently, she tried to demean Donald Trump's incoming border czar, Tom Homan, suggesting he has no idea what he's doing when it comes to fixing the border crisis.

That prompted Homan to steamroll her back to reality: "I don’t know who this lady is. Apparently, she’s not real smart."

Is it that obvious?

Earlier this month, at a House Oversight Committee hearing regarding problems in the U.S. Census, Crockett launched into a vile tirade about minorities being used to create seats for white Republicans.

Prior to that, Crockett went viral with this racist screed about the "white man."

At this point, it's obvious Crockett is just going to do precisely what you'd expect from a "Squad" wannabe — run her mouth without anything vaguely intelligent to back up her words.

Don't take the bait, Nancy. It's not worth it.
