Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla. told Newsmax Friday the three democratic
socialists who won Tuesday’s congressional primaries in New York City
are part of a war for the future of the country.
Appearing on “Finnerty,” Fine said footage of former New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, who won the Democrat primary for the 10th Congressional District and is Jewish, praying at a mosque made him sick.
“We can no longer say the barbarians are at the gates,” Fine said. “They're well inside, and they want to serve in Congress.”
“The people that are coming from New York are a threat to this
country,” Fine added. “They come to Congress not to build America, but
to destroy it. “
“We have to accept that, in many cases, the Democrats are no longer
the loyal opposition,” Fine continued. “They truly are the enemy of the
United States. And I think it is a very, very sad place that we find
ourselves in.”
Fine said the Democrats elected in the primaries, Lander, Darializa
Avila Chevalier and Assemblywoman Claire Valdez, all endorsed by
socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, seek the destruction of
America.
We've seen the rise of radical leftists within the Democrat Party
over the near term, with it becoming more glaringly obvious since
Democratic Socialist NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani's election, and others in
NY and elsewhere rising in the 2026 primaries.
More and more Americans are beginning to awaken to the truth that
these aren't just progressive Dems. They're flat out Communists.
President Donald Trump spoke about that fact in a short and to-the-point
post shared to his Truth Social account Thursday night.
And
he made addressing that threat to our nation's existence, and why the
Democrats are failing to fight against the commies, central to part of
his headlining speech at the conservative Faith & Freedom Coalition
conference kickoff on Friday in Washington, D.C.
In advance of
Trump's remarks, he shared "one of the Statements" he planned to include
in front of the conservative group, earlier on Friday
[excerpted/paragraph breaks added. You can read the full post at the
link below]:
Pres. Trump said that "perhaps the most important of them all, concerns the recent Election of Communists in our Country."
He
spoke about the Dems' "tremendous turn Left," and how the party's
leaders are afraid to fight back against these commies. They're cowards,
he said:
"It’s easy for them [communists] to get followers because
they make promises that they know they can’t keep, and the Dumocrats
aren’t fighting back. In many ways, they’re allowing them to go their
own way. They’re afraid they will lose their Election, they’re afraid of
conflict. They’re not smart enough or tough enough to fight this
plague. If they fought them the way they fight Republicans, or me,
they’d be victorious, but they don’t have the courage to do so."
The
president called it a "plague," and said "the hard core, godless
Communists" pushing their way into positions of power "is the most
serious threat to our Country since its existence":
"These
are not social Dumocrats, these are hard core, godless Communists. This
is the most serious threat to our Country since its existence 250 years
ago. Isn’t it ironic, we’re celebrating a very important Birthday, and
instead of speaking about Christ, Freedom, and Victories of all
different kinds, we’re speaking about yet another threat to the
Foundations of America."
Also appearing to speak at the Faith & Freedom coalition event on
Friday was Border Czar Tom Homan, as my colleague Bob Hoge wrote.
"These
ruthless Communists will attack all Religions but, in particular,
Christianity – They always do. All Communist Countries attack Religions
violently. As you know, we recently struck Nigeria, and largely ended
the slaughter of their Great Christian population. They know that if
they go further, the attack will be far greater and, in that, they don’t
want to get involved.
"I am saving Christians throughout the
World, even though we are not in those various Countries, by hitting
these Terrorists violently and hard. They will close your Churches, they
will kill your people. This is what they’re about. This is the Greatest
Threat to our Country since its Founding 250 years ago!"
But, Trump added, the future does not belong to the Communists or
their poisonous ideology; it belongs to patriots and freedom, and that
starts with exercising our right to vote in the upcoming midterm
election. Americans are people of faith, held firmly in the promises of
liberty set out by the Founders 250 years ago:
"Communism
really is the past—and freedom is the future... Everyone needs to get
out and vote in the Midterms. We have to win this election, this
election is very vital.
And in our 250th year, we will make our nation stronger, safer, better, more prosperous and more faithful than ever before."
Later in the day, the president met with members of the Religious Liberty Commission, which he established
in May 2025, in the Oval Office. The group's chairman, Dan Patrick,
explained why defeating the communist threat is crucial to defending the
religious liberties of Americans of every faith.
He spoke about religious liberty, "our conscience, that little voice
inside us that tells right from wrong," which is the "great inheritance
of our founding fathers." Governments that "take away your religious
liberty," Patrick said, "are putting a hand in your heart, and taking
away everything you believe in."
Let me say up front that I'm not acquainted with General Donahue or
his partisans on one side or the other of this issue. I'm merely
offering my observations not only as a former infantry officer but also
as a political observer. Having said all that, the discussion is missing
two critical points, in my opinion.
First and foremost,
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has the duty to shape the nation's corps
of General and Flag Officers. He does that with the consent of the
President, who
"has reposed special trust and confidence in the patriotism, valor,
fidelity, and abilities" of each officer. Promotion to GOFO rank is not
something that a neutral committee does. Yes, a promotion board selects a
slate of the best-qualified candidates. Then the service chief of staff
reviews the list and, if necessary, makes changes. The service
secretary weighs in. The Secretary of War gets involved. Then it goes to
the White House for final review, and ultimately, the Senate confirms
those nominated or not. Shenanigans are not unknown; see Four-Star General Suspended and Under IG Investigation for Tampering With Command Selection Board – RedState and Army Secretary Fires a Corrupt Four-Star but Leaves Corruption at the Top Untouched – RedState.
Hegseth
has embarked on an ambitious reform of the Pentagon and is proceeding
at breakneck speed. To make that work, he has to have senior commanders
and civilians who believe in his program. If there is any doubt of their
full-throated support, he must get rid of them. Generals and admirals
associated with the corrupt policies of the Lloyd Austin era have been
removed. A partial list is below.
Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr. — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Adm. Lisa Franchetti — Chief of Naval Operations.
Gen. James Slife — Air Force Vice Chief of Staff.
Gen. Timothy Haugh — Commander of U.S. Cyber Command and NSA Director.
Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse — Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Rear Adm. Milton Sands — Commander of Naval Special Warfare Command.
Gen. David Allvin — Air Force Chief of Staff.
Vice Adm. Nancy Lacore — Chief of Navy Reserve.
Lt. Gen Joseph B. Berger III — Judge Advocate General of the Army.
Lt. Gen. Charles Plummer — Judge Advocate General of the Air Force.
Lt Gen. Jennifer Short — Senior Military Assistant to the Secretary of Defense.
Vice Adm. Shoshana Chatfield — United States Military Representative to the NATO Military Committee.
Gen. Randy George — Army Chief of Staff.
Gen. David Hodne — Commander of Army Transformation and Training Command.
Maj. Gen. William Green Jr. — Army Chief of Chaplains.
Holding a senior rank is not a sinecure. It isn't a personal bauble.
It is a trust, and part of that trust is loyalty to the President and
the Secretary of War, as well as fealty to the Constitution. You can't
be faithful to the Constitution while surreptitiously fighting the
policies of the commander-in-chief. As one of my old bosses once told
us: "Guys, I'll never ask you to like a single thing I tell you to do.
But I will demand that you do it to the best of your ability."
We are told that Donohue is "one of America's most-admired general officers."
BREAKING:
One of America's most-admired general officers, CD Donahue, is the
latest Army leader to be forced out at the Pentagon, @nancyayoussef and @missy_ryan report: https://t.co/v7co5kMo5n
That
may be true, but that appellation and $25 will get you a small cup of
very gay coffee at Starbucks. I have no idea what metric would allow you
to arrive at that conclusion.
What we do know about Donohue is less than admirable.
In a number of articles penned in the following days, Donahue is characterized as “uniquely qualified” for that moment in time and generally depicted as a humble, understated leader of his division.
Unfortunately,
everything isn’t quite as it may seem. During the last hours of the
evacuation, according to troops under his command and as documented by
photographs and witness statements, Donahue ordered all of the
passengers aboard a C-17 transport plane to disembark so he could have a
souvenir loaded onto the plane. That souvenir, or “war trophy,” was an
inoperable Taliban-owned Toyota Hilux with a fully operational Russian ZU-23
anti-aircraft autocannon mounted in the bed. Once the Hilux was loaded
passengers were allowed back on the plane, but, of course, there wasn’t
room for all of them. According to troops on the scene, at least 50
people and perhaps as many as 100 people were left at Kabul to make room
for the Hilux.
When then-Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin blocked Donahue's
promotion to four-star rank in November 2024,
additional details
emerged about the Afghanistan fiasco. In addition to the "war trophy"
incident recounted above, Donahue blocked American passport holders from
entering the evacuation area. Working dogs were left behind rather than
evacuated. Donahue borrowed the equipment he used for the "last man in
Afghanistan" photo from a soldier. Allegedly, the "last man" image took
multiple takes to get right.
So
this was the guy who ran the disaster Kabul evacuation — but still had
the time to do a photo shoot of himself walking up the ramp — multiple
takes to get it right. Also the nards to dedicate space on a plane for a
truck that he sent to the Airborne Museum.

LTG
Donahue refused to open the gates at HKIA despite Marines reporting up
the chain of command that American passport holding citizens were trying
to get in to evacuate. In addition to the statements from Marines, we
had plenty of other evidence of Americans trying to get into HKIA to
evacuate.
Donahue was the ground commander who ultimately made
the decision to not get those Americans out. We can banter back and
forth about security and other critical elements of why he chose to do
what he did, but I can’t sidestep or forgive a commander not making
every attempt to get those Americans out who were standing at the gate,
talking directly to the Marines, and being refused entry.
The
other nonsense about the fake photo op of “last boots on ground” that
was proven false due to the Air Force load master being the last to get
on the airplane and an entire medical unit still being on ground
conducting operations well after the evacuation, plus borrowing the
equipment from the delta team that was with him to take a cool guy
photo, can be shrugged off.
Making an effort to use critical
space on the airplanes to take home a Toyota Land Cruiser with a mounted
anti-aircraft gun as a war trophy, instead of human beings, or at the
very least the dozens of working dogs that were left to die in kennels
at the hands of the Taliban, can also be shrugged off.
What I can’t shrug off is leaving American citizens behind in Afghanistan when they were standing at the gates with their passports out pleading with the Marine guards to let them in. He shouldn’t have been allowed to pin on a third star, let alone a fourth.
The report on the Afghan debacle is due out shortly. If these
vignettes are included, Hegseth would be roasted for promoting one of
the architects of our shameful withdrawal while also proclaiming that he
wanted accountability.
NEW:
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stonewalled a behind-the-scenes effort
within the Army and on Capitol Hill to extend the career of Gen. Chris
Donahue people familiar with the matter said, leading to that officer
submitting retirement paperwork and preparing to step down.
Donahue has become a convenient club with which to belabor Hegseth, no matter the circumstances.
The
bottom line here is that there is nothing wrong with Pete Hegseth
forcing a general officer into retirement. Even if you don't like
Hegseth or like his reasoning, his right and duty to manage the corps of
generals and admirals is unassailable.
The second part of the
story is more conspiratorial. As I noted, current DHS Secretary
Markwayne Mullin put a hold on Donahue's promotion over Afghanistan. No
one said jack ****. There was no mention of his accomplishments. There
was no strictly heterosexual man-crush by leftist agitators.
Hegseth has fired a lot of Generals. The reaction to this one had been very different.
Donahue was deeply loved, trusted and respected.
It’s another time we badly need all former CJCSs, SecDefs and Flag Grades to speak out.
The
story about Donahue being forced out did not break in the traditional
media or in a defense- or military-related outlet. Nope. It first
surfaced in The Atlantic.
BREAKING:
One of America's most-admired general officers, CD Donahue, is the
latest Army leader to be forced out at the Pentagon, @nancyayoussef and @missy_ryan report: https://t.co/v7co5kMo5n
My
conversation with Rear Adm. (Ret.) James McPherson, Army under
secretary during Trump's first administration, about the impact of Gen.
CD Donahue's early retirement: "There's no more warrior than there was General Donahue. "I think this goes to two things. One is the morale…
There
was also a healthy dose of politically active retired generals and
admirals. You know, the ones who were completely apolitical until a
couple of nanoseconds after retirement.
Admiral
(ret.) William H. McRaven: "In recent months, President Trump, upon
advice from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, has relieved or forced
the retirement of some of the finest officers that have ever served this
nation." Read the whole piece: https://t.co/m9og4RFfLI
The
continued unwillingness of Secretary Hegseth to explain why these
Officers are being removed “without cause” leads to speculation about
his motives and undermines trust among the Officer Corps and in the
Ranks. Is the Secretary of the Army ok with this? SASC? Retired 4 stars?
https://t.co/PyTQoC8e3T
— Admiral Mike Franken (@FrankenforIowa) June 25, 2026
There
are enough McRaven quotes to remove all doubt about who pushed the
story to The Atlantic and then energized the cabal of progressive
retired admirals and generals to complain. McRaven probably doesn't care
about Donahue one way or another. What he does care about is sidelining
Hegseth and protecting his fellow Bolsheviks.
For me, this is the bottom line.
President Trump gets to pick his team; Hegseth is the general manager.
The
ranks of GOFOs are so salted with the debris of the Obama and Biden
years that they need a culling on the order of the one General George C.
Marshall gave to the U.S. Army pre-World War II.
He who smelt it, dealt it. The source of this hit and who is pushing it tells you all you need to know about the motive.
The graveyard is full of indispensable men, and everyone moves up one place.
We often say this about Bill Maher’s HBO show:
there are episodes when the Left will, and usually does, lose their
minds. Again, the comedian is a liberal, but he calls out his side more
often and vocally until they get their act together. He won’t stop, and
this week’s episode had that mindset on steroids.
Bill Maher just dropped a diving elbow from the top rope on the socialist lunatics attempting to take over the Democrat Party.
His audience went nuts the moment they heard it.
MAHER: “This is big news in this country. I don't know if you saw what happened in New York. There… pic.twitter.com/susL0LmHDk
First,
his exclusive interview was with Vice President JD Vance, who educated
the HBO host on immigration enforcement and ICE’s operations. Maher said
he wanted Vance to admit that things had gone too far, but the VP did
not concede, adding that if these operations were based on good public
relations, nothing would happen. Maher did give props to Vance for
coming on his show, whereas other progressives have been asked and have
run away like scared wombats.
Bill Maher heaps praise on Vice President Vance for having the balls to come on his show.
He
says it’s his own party — the Democrats — who REFUSE to talk to him,
calling out AOC, Kamala Harris, and Zohran Mamdani by name.
Yet, Maher dropped a bombshell following New York’s socialist wave on
Tuesday — that he cannot get on board with that wing of the Democratic
Party. In 2028, if things become more chaotic on his side, he stated
outright that if the GOP nominee is Vance or Marco Rubio, he might vote
Republican.
WHOA: Bill Maher looks JD Vance dead in the eye and says his “vote is in play” for 2028.
Maher openly admitted to Vance that if socialists take over the Democratic Party, he’s likely voting for him or Rubio.
MAHER:
“Like, if this is where the Democratic Party is going, where this
Democratic socialist, this obsession with Israel, with the Jew hating,
they don’t believe in capitalism, no prisons...”
“If this is where they’re going, my vote is in play.”
VANCE: “Okay, I like to hear that.”
MAHER:
“It actually always has been. Every year, I don’t make my decision by
who has an R or a D, I actually always came to the conclusion that the
Democrat was probably better and voted for them.”
“And Trump can’t run again and he’d be a little too exciting for me anyway.”
“So it’s either going to be you or Rubio.”
Also,
was this Real Time’s audience clapping in defense of Pete Hegseth?
Maybe not his views or policies, but the notion that the media is out of
control, biased, and doesn’t report what’s going on?
Something
interesting just happened on Bill Maher’s own show — Vice President
Vance won over the liberal audience with a defense of Pete Hegseth.
Maher accused Hegseth of race-based firings, but Vance pushed back hard, saying the media is distorting the truth.
MAHER: “Did they go too far, probably, in the Pentagon
with DEI and...yes, and now Pete Hegseth is like firing everyone who’s
not whiter than an albino.”
VANCE: “No, he’s not! Come on, Bill!”
MAHER: “It certainly looks that way. Nothing lands in the middle!”
VANCE: “I disagree with that. I think sometimes things land right where they should but you take the story about Pete Hegseth.”
“Obviously
I’m biased, I like Pete, but if you look at the actual promotions we’ve
done, there have been a lot of people from all walks of life.”
“There
have been some high profile people, where he said, you know what, I
don’t think they merited a promotion. But the idea we are not promoting
minorities in the Pentagon under Pete Hegseth it’s just not true.”
“And I do think that sometimes your criticism is things don’t land in the middle, and I understand that.”
“Sometimes
the problem is the media reports things in such a way where they
actually obfuscate or conceal the truth rather than reporting what’s
actually going on.”
[Audience bursts into applause]
MAHER: “Of course they do, they all do! That’s why you have to read both sides.”
Maher’s New Rules commentary was about how the World Cup is reminding Americans on our 250th
birthday that this place is “awesome.” And by that, I mean, he’s
reminding his side, which is so Trump deranged they can’t celebrate the
Fourth of July without taking copious amounts of Lexapro.
The
World Cup is at our shores, and all these people are doing us a great
service. They are reminding Americans that this place is kind of
awesome. pic.twitter.com/gl34T6pY4L
What a wild episode: cheers for Pete Hegseth, Maher’s statement about
possibly voting Republican, and ‘USA USA USA’ — the World Cup proves we
still dominate the world.
Last Note: When asked about the Iran war, Vance had a very good answer. Let these guys cook, man.
JD Vance tells Bill Maher the United States has “destroyed” Iran’s nuclear program.
Maher immediately pushes back and says: Hold on. “Their program isn’t destroyed.”
By the time Vance finishes answering, Maher backs off entirely.
President Donald Trump has indicated
that he’s launching a new political war on communism after the success
of Mamdani-aligned politicians have ascended to relevancy in New York’s
recent elections.

Trump
has stated that he has “waited and prepared” for the resurgence of
communists for “a long time.” In his first public address since
far-leftists won handedly in New York’s elections, Trump went even
further by stating that their rise was “the most serious threat to our
country since its existence.” He also warned that the mainstreaming of
the communist ideology would mean greater persecution of Christians.

“These are not social Dumocrats, these are hard core, godless Communists,” Trump likewise said
on social media. “This is the most serious threat to our Country since
its existence 250 years ago. Isn’t it ironic, we’re celebrating a very
important Birthday, and instead of speaking about Christ, Freedom, and
Victories of all different kinds, we’re speaking about yet another
threat to the Foundations of America.”
“These ruthless
Communists will attack all Religions but, in particular, Christianity –
They always do,” Trump continued. “All Communist Countries attack
Religions violently.”
Trump also warned Americans about the dangerous allure of
communism’s false promises, stating that the ideology is “very easy to
sell.”
“Communism is very easy to sell,” Trump said.
“I’d be the Greatest Communist in History. I’d give free rent, free
houses, free food, everything is free. Unfortunately, after two or three
years, the Country where this is taking place would fail. It always
does, and then you’ll start living in squalor.”
“There
will be no food, there will be no housing, there will be no Military,
there will be no nothing. You’ll be Third World every way, and everyone
will suffer or die,” he added.
With many wondering how
so many radicals have managed to seize power away from the Democrat
establishment, Trump offered an answer: cowardice and weakness.
Trump calls out Democrats for being COWARDS and refusing to fight back against the radicals taking over their party:
"They're
afraid [...] The Dumocrats have taken a tremendous turn left and many
of these people — I looked at the some of the people that got elected
the other… pic.twitter.com/kFZuKOiaqE
“It’s
easy for them to get followers because they make promises that they
know they can’t keep, and the Dumocrats aren’t fighting back,” Trump
also said on social media. “In many ways, they’re allowing them to go
their own way. They’re afraid they will lose their Election, they’re
afraid of conflict. They’re not smart enough or tough enough to fight
this plague. If they fought them the way they fight Republicans, or me,
they’d be victorious, but they don’t have the courage to do so.”
Despite the growing concern about the future of American
politics should this new strain of radical Democrats continue to
flourish, Trump reassured listeners that communism is firmly in the past
and that freedom is the future.
TRUMP: "Communism really is the past, and FREEDOM is the FUTURE. All we want is freedom. Freedom gets you everything." 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/UrNkHULkk4
The
new wave of communist victory in the Democrat party comes just days
before the United States is set to celebrate its 250th anniversary of
Independence Day.
United States military forces carried out strikes against Iran after
Tehran breached the newly signed ceasefire agreement in the Strait of
Hormuz.
On Friday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed it conducted
retaliatory strikes against Iranian targets in response to Thursday’s
series of drone attacks on a commercial ship, revealing that American
aircraft “struck Iranian missile and drone storage locations and coastal
radar sites.”
U.S. strikes were reported near the Iranian port of Sirik shortly
after the military announcement. The Port of Sirik (Bandar Sirik) is a
strategically vital maritime facility and IRGC naval base located on
Iran’s southern coast in Hormozgan province, overlooking the Strait.
President Donald Trump expressed his disappointment with Tehran over
the attack, calling it a “foolish violation” of the memorandum of
understanding (MoU) that was signed on June 17th.
According to the president, American defense systems successfully
intercepted three of the incoming drones, though a fourth managed to
solidly strike the upper deck of the Singapore-registered cargo vessel,
the M/V Ever Lovely. Despite sustaining damage to its bridge, the ship was reported safe and able to proceed on its journey.
Vice President JD Vance took to X, revealing that “violence will be met with violence.”
Iran
signed a ceasefire agreement. We have honored it. If they have
disagreements about how the MOU is being applied, they can pick up the
phone.
CENTCOM emphasized that despite the sudden escalation, U.S. forces
continue to provide safe passage coordination and support to commercial
vessels transiting the strait.
On Wednesday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Phoenix Mercury veteran
Alyssa Thomas made contact with Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark by
striking Clark in the throat while the two scrambled for a loose ball,
an act that went uncalled by the referees at the time. The play was
jarring to fans in the arena and millions watching online, and it forced
a league review after public outrage grew over the apparent lack of
in-game enforcement.
The WNBA ultimately upgraded the play to a
Flagrant 2 and handed Thomas a one-game suspension and a fine, a belated
measure that did not come until after the damage was done and Clark had
to leave the contest. Many fans and commentators argued a one-game slap
is nowhere near a strong enough response for what was, by any measure, a
dangerous, non-basketball action.
What is infuriating to
conservative Americans who love real sports is the predictable pattern:
enforcement only after a public relations storm, not to protect players
on the court in the moment. The league has had months to promise better
officiating and player safety, yet too often officials miss obvious
fouls against the league’s most valuable asset — and then the league
quietly files paperwork after the outrage subsides.
Caitlin Clark
has single-handedly dragged women’s basketball into the national
spotlight, and fans pay real money to see fair competition, not furious
theater where superstar players are left vulnerable. The so-called
protect-the-star narrative rings hollow when the protectors — the
referees and the league office — fail to act until the clip goes viral,
undermining the product and disrespecting ticket-buyers who deserve
honest, enforceable rules.
This isn’t an isolated spat between two
players; it’s symptomatic of a league that rotates between
virtue-signaling and doing the bare minimum to patch over its mistakes.
We’ve seen upgraded fouls and postgame suspensions after the fact
before, yet the same names and same excuses keep coming up while the
real victims — players and fans — get left holding the bill for sloppy
officiating.
If the WNBA wants to be taken seriously by mainstream
sports fans, it needs consistency and accountability: clear,
enforceable standards referees apply in the moment, harsher penalties
for deliberate, non-basketball acts, and transparency when the league
chooses to review plays. Anything less invites chaos on the court and
erodes the hard-earned credibility of a league that’s finally been
getting attention.
Hardworking Americans who pack arenas or tune
in from home don’t want to be told to accept sloppy officiating because a
narrative must be preserved. We want fair play, real consequences, and a
league that values player safety over optics — and if the WNBA can’t
provide that, fans should demand better for their dollars and for the
integrity of the game.
On June 26, 2026, billionaire Leon Black sat for a closed-door
transcribed interview with the House Oversight Committee and abruptly
declined to answer key questions about nondisclosure agreements tied to
Jeffrey Epstein, prompting lawmakers to issue subpoenas on the spot.
Americans watching this unfold have every right to demand clarity, not
curtain-raising theater where powerful elites dodge basic
accountability.
Reporting
shows Black has acknowledged paying Epstein roughly $158 million over a
yearslong relationship and told the committee he was deceived by
Epstein, insisting he committed no criminal wrongdoing while defending
those payments. That figure and his explanation only deepen the
suspicion among ordinary citizens that wealthy insiders used influence
and secrecy to bury ugly truths.
Committee Chair James Comer
issued two subpoenas during the session: one demanding production of any
nondisclosure agreements involving Black and another compelling him to
return for a sworn deposition on July 16. If powerful men can sign away
the truth with secret NDAs, then subpoenas are the proper remedy — and
Republicans on the committee moved to use the law rather than let soft
justice prevail.
Conservative Americans should be skeptical of the
media’s appetite for spectacle, but skepticism doesn’t mean softness
toward corruption or predators; it means insisting on real evidence and
equal justice under the law. While some on the left try to turn every
hearing into a political hit job, lawmakers must pursue victims’
accounts and documents relentlessly and without partisan grandstanding.
This
isn’t only about one billionaire — it’s about whether our institutions
will protect survivors and dismantle networks of secrecy that let the
wealthy evade scrutiny. Sen. Ron Wyden’s referral of his multi-year
findings to the Oversight Committee earlier this month shows this probe
has a factual backbone, and Congress must follow the facts where they
lead, not the talking points the coastal elites prefer.
President Donald Trump intensified his warnings
about communism Thursday night, declaring on Truth Social that "[t]he
game is on" after spending much of the week criticizing what he
describes as a growing communist movement within the Democratic Party.
"The Communists are finally making their move. I've been waiting and preparing for this for a long time," Trump wrote.
"It's easy to be a Communist, All you have to do is say, 'I'll give
you everything,' but that means you're taking it away from others that
have earned it. Over thousands of years, that Ideology has not worked
once," he continued.
"The game is on. Enjoy watching!"
The post continued a series of messages Trump has published this week
highlighting what he calls the rise of communist candidates in
Democratic politics.
On Tuesday night, Trump wrote: "Many Communists running in badly failing Blue States. The votes seem to have them doing quite well against each other.
"The bad news is that history has conclusively shown that the
downtrodden States that they will soon be running will ONLY GET WORSE.
MAGA!"
He followed that Wednesday with a shorter declaration: "America the Beautiful will NEVER be a Communist Country!!!"
Trump's latest comments come after candidates backed by New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani scored victories
in New York's Democratic House primaries Tuesday, strengthening the
influence of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) within the
state's Democratic Party.
The results prompted renewed debate over the party's ideological
direction, with progressives celebrating the victories while some
Democratic leaders expressed concern about their political implications.
