This Is What They Wanted

You might remember for the rest of your life where exactly you were this Saturday afternoon when the news came down that former President Donald Trump had just been shot. I was walking into the house, and my ashen-faced wife and mother-in-law both said, come in quickly. At first, like many of us, I thought the worst. There was blood, there was chaos, there was mayhem.

I thought he was dead.

But miraculously, through an act of God or fate or whatever you choose to believe—that and maybe an inch or two at most—are all that separate us from a terrible moment and a history-changing tragedy that would haunt our nation forever. Yes, this was bad, but it could have been so, so much worse.

How did we get here?

You could argue that it’s just a toxic political environment and that both sides are at fault for the ratcheting up of tensions in our nation. But it wouldn’t be true. In fact, one side has been using far more incendiary rhetoric than the other and overtly calling for violence, and it’s the left.

Remember this?

What do you call this, except for a call to violence?

"I want to tell you, Gorsuch; I want to tell you, Kavanaugh: You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer roared Wednesday to a crowd of protesters angry over a Louisiana case before the court that threatens abortion rights. "You won't know what hit if you go forward with these awful decisions."

It wasn’t long after that a lone assassin showed up outside Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s house with the intent to kill. Coincidence? No.

Remember Biden’s hateful 2022 State of the Union speech, in which he basically deemed half of the American public terrorists and enemies of the state?

Biden Delivers One of the Most Divisive, Hate-Filled Speeches in the History of Our Presidency

Here is some of the rhetoric the president used to “bring us together.”

Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic….

But there is no question that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven, and intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans, and that is a threat to this country.

And here, in my view, is what is true: MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people. They refuse to accept the results of a free election. And they’re working right now, as I speak, in state after state to give power to decide elections in America to partisans and cronies, empowering election deniers to undermine democracy itself.

It was stunning stuff. He finally made a statement about the assassination attempt Saturday evening from his Rehoboth Beach vacation spot, where he seems to spend most of his time instead of at the White House:

“We cannot allow this to be happening,” Biden said. “The idea that there’s violence in America like this is just unheard of.”

The idea that “there’s violence in America like this is just unheard of?” Are you kidding me? This is an administration that has looked the other way as rabid antisemitic protests rocked campuses across the nation. They didn’t lift a finger. An administration that applauded the George Floyd-BLM protests that caused billions upon billions in damage to our cities. Instead of making any attempts to hold those who caused that deadly mayhem accountable, the Biden Department of Justice has gone after pro-life advocates, parents who want a say in what their kids are being taught, and anyone who was within a mile of the Capitol on January 6.

But the internet remembers where their real priorities were:

By the way, Biden’s 2024 SOTU was no more peaceful than his red-hued diatribe in 2022:

Joe Biden's State of the Union Was the Most Unhinged and Angry in History

The foiled assassination plot against Kavanaugh has not been forgotten. Although the attempted murder of Steve Scalise and other Republicans by a crazed Bernie Sanders supporter has been memory-holed by the mainstream media, it still happened.

The list goes on. No, you can’t ascribe blame for the actions of crazy people to a single passing comment of a politician, like the despicable way they tried to blame Sarah Palin for the horrible Gabby Giffords shooting—but you can attribute a body of rhetoric calling for and accepting of political violence for what we saw Saturday.

These are the kinds of people the modern left has created:

It seems like it wasn’t a question of if—it was a question of when.

If True, DHS Secretary Mayorkas Must Answer This Question After Trump's Assassination Attempt

There is going to be a mountain of questions for the U.S. Secret Service regarding the assassination attempt on Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. At a rally, the former president missed getting killed by millimeters, with him turning his head, which caused the bullet to graze his right ear instead. Is Trump being adequately protected?

Obviously, that’s not the case, given how close the sniper got to Trump’s stage. The Federalist is reporting that for quite some time, Trump’s security detail has requested more resources but were denied by Biden’s Department of Homeland Security:

"DHS, which oversees Secret Service protective detail, 'wasn’t responsive to those requests' for more resources, the source said. Was Biden’s regime behind the attack, or did it deliberately do everything it could to allow it to happen?" asked Sean Davis, CEO of The Federalist.

Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas must be hauled before Congress to answer some questions about this incident if that's the case. Trump is alive, has left the hospital, and has spoken with President Biden.

UPDATE: During the presser with law enforcement officials at 11:45 pm on July 13, they denied that requests for more security were denied. The FBI said so, folks. They're a trusted institution these days, right?

Officials: Secret Service protection for former President Trump was strengthened recently. Normal as RNC convention approached. Suggestion that DHS rejected request by Trump team for more protection not true.

FBI Identifies Trump's Would-Be Assassin

Former President Donald Trump was nearly killed in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. The bullet missed, grazing his ear instead. Trump came within millimeters of getting killed yesterday. There are glaring security oversights, which will be addressed in time, but around 1:40 AM EST, the FBI finally confirmed that the shooter was Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel, Pennsylvania.

NYP has ID'ed the Trump shooter as Thomas Matthew Crooks, who graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2022. Here's footage of him accepting his diploma at commencement. Crooks received the National Math & Science Initiative Star Award for academic achievement. pic.twitter.com/VcZnSV2upb

The New York Post first reported on Trump’s would-be assassin, which was published before a press conference with law enforcement officials around 11:45 PM last night. As Spencer noted, the officials were cagey, refusing initially to release the identity of the would-be assassin. The Secret Service was not represented at the presser.

Of course, once this leaked, there was no containing it. And it’s fitting that authorities decided to confirm this when most of the country is asleep. Though injured, Trump is blessedly okay and currently in New Jersey.

The Republican National Convention begins next week. Mia will have a deep dive into this character later this week.

Party officials have stated that the Republican National Convention (RNC) will proceed as scheduled.

They stated that the shooting at Donald Trump’s Pennsylvania rally will not alter the plans to formally nominate him in Milwaukee.

“The convention will continue as planned,” a senior Republican official told CNN Saturday night. “President Trump looks forward to joining you all in Milwaukee as we proceed with our convention to nominate him to serve as the 47th President of the United States.”

Donald Trump was hit in the ear in an apparent assassination attempt by a gunman at a campaign rally on Saturday, in a chaotic and shocking incident that will fuel fears of instability ahead of the 2024 US presidential election.

The suspected gunman who fired shots and hit Donald Trump and rally attendees was killed by a member of a Secret Service counter-assault team.

The suspect was not inside of the cordoned-off rally area when shots rang out. They were about 200-300 feet from the rally on an elevated structure. They were believed to be standing on top of a shed.

According to law enforcement sources, the shooter was armed with an AR-style rifle. (AR-15 Pictured below)13 Best AR-15s: Ultimate Hands-On Guide - Pew Pew Tactical

WashPost: Biden in 'Denial' About His Political 'Frailty'

Shell-shocked House Democrats question keeping Biden at the top of the ticket : r/moderatepolitics

The Washington Post editorial board wrote that President Joe Biden remains in "denial" about his personal and political "frailty," adding he's "somewhat oblivious" to the unrest enveloping him in the aftermath of his debate performance two weeks ago and fresh "cringeworthy" stumbles on Thursday.

The Post stopped short of directly calling for Biden to drop out of the presidential race, but in its editorial published Friday, it said the time has come for Biden's allies and those with influence to steer him to the exit.

"We suspect Democratic fortunes would improve with a new national ticket," the Post wrote.

It's the second time in eight days the Post has dabbled with calling on Biden to quit the race but without actually doing so. In its July 4 editorial, the Post wrote a piece headlined, "What if Biden spoke these words?" effectively recommending Biden remove himself from the presidential race.

On Friday, the Post highlighted Biden's new round of "cringeworthy" gaffes from Thursday: "Vice President Trump" instead of his Vice President Kamala Harris and "President Putin" instead of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Instead of bolstering Democrats' confidence in his mental acuity in the aftermath of his June 27 debate with Republican presumptive nominee Donald Trump, Biden threw gasoline on the fire of his own making, the Post wrote.

"What makes Mr. Biden's cognitive decline especially damaging is that he and his aides have systematically failed to level with the public about it," the Post wrote.

"Mr. Biden seems to be somewhat oblivious to the political furor surrounding him and in denial about his frailty, personally and politically," the Post went on.

The Post concluded its editorial: "Mr. Biden said on Thursday he's 'not in this for my legacy.' Well and good. What, then, is he in it for? The only right answer is the good of the country.

"And those with influence and access to the president need to explain forcefully and candidly what that calls for now."

Comeback Kid: Biden in Michigan Forgets Names, Rambles Incoherently, and Gets Heckled by Protesters

Joe Biden's comeback tour continued in Michigan on Friday, and it was the real-life equivalent of tweeting through it. With the president's stalwart insistence on staying in the race despite his clear mental and physical decline, he and his handlers have decided to go full-bore no matter how much it further exposes his condition.

Perhaps that's because the press has gotten their marching orders and is now spinning every rambling utterance by Biden as absolute proof he's a picture of vigorous health. Whatever the reason, the rest of us have eyes and ears, and anyone telling you the president is fine is simply lying to you.

It took about 30 seconds into Biden's Michigan event for his brain to completely malfunction pic.twitter.com/UEeQXQBD4D

— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) July 12, 2024

Biden was attempting to list off the names of the Michigan House members present at the rally who had been hosting him throughout the day. He managed to get through two before his brain fried, leaving him stammering before he turned to his patented "by the way" to try to escape the flub. From there, Biden creepily claims that people thought Rep. Debbie Dingell was his wife because "she looks like Jill."

Could someone check and see if CNN "fact-checker" Daniel Dale is still on vacation? Because there is no evidence that Biden was ever involved in the civil rights movement. The claim that he was going to an AME church in Wilmington, DE, to plan how to "desegregate the restaurants and streets of our city" appears to be completely made up. No one has ever come forward to back Biden's tales of being a civil rights hero, and every piece of data we do have says he was rather uninterested at the time.

Here's another clip that MSNBC will no doubt be praising as part of the best rally speech in history. Again, it doesn't matter what Biden does at this point. The order to circle the wagons has gone forth.

With the press firmly back on his side, Biden is free to abide in his delusion, such as the idea that the "majority agree" that the economy is headed in the right direction.

BIDEN: "The vast majority agree, our economy is moving in the right direction!"

FACT: Most Americans trust President Trump over Biden on the economy. pic.twitter.com/OiScl1tvYb

— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) July 12, 2024

On the contrary, every single poll available shows that the majority of Americans disagree with the direction of the economy or rate it negatively. It's not even a close call. The average of polls shows that the spread stands at -18.6 percent negative concerning views on the economy.

By the way, did you know that grocery prices and airfare are down under Biden? Yeah, me neither.

Crooked Joe Biden is bragging about prices — which are up 20%+ since he took office — while inflation has been at or above 3% for *39 straight months.*

THAT'S BIDENOMICS! pic.twitter.com/RAkQbIELhu

— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) July 12, 2024

BIDEN: Overall prices fell last month. Core inflation is the lowest it's been in three years. Prices are falling for cars, appliances, airfare, grocery prices have fallen since the start of this year.

The truth is that grocery prices are up at least 27 percent since the president took office. How do I know that? Because Biden's own administration told us

As of March 2024, the USDA recommends a family of four on a thrifty budget spend $976.60 monthly and $1,585.20 for a liberal budget. On average, across the four food plans, the monthly budget recommendation has risen 27% since the start of 2020.

From there, the brain malfunctions continued throughout the speech.

Biden — highly drugged up as he reads a script written by his degenerate handlers from a gigantic teleprompter — again says he beat Medicare.

Time to go, Crooked Joe — you're not well! pic.twitter.com/8fXNHBUzmr

— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) July 12, 2024

Let me try to transcribe that last one for you.

BIDEN: And by the way, I got criticized for taking on Medicare, I mean on taking on the drug companies, pharma, for that, (inaudible) it's not, damn right, it's alright.

Biden was also heckled, presumably by the Hamas supporters he continues to coddle. That led to him staring awkwardly, as others tried to chant "four more years" with mixed success.

So that's about how his speech went. The comeback is on, and the press will do their part to push that narrative. How many people were actually at this rally? The Biden campaign protects wide shots like they are nuclear codes so I'm not sure. What I do know is that those standing behind the president were decked out in SEIU gear, which means they were almost certainly paid to be there.

All of this is astroturfed. Whether it'll be enough to change Biden's fortunes by convincing the broader American public that he's "back" is an open question. I sense a dogfight ahead.
