The WSJ Details the Biden Presidency's Slow Journey Towards Political Death

The Wall Street Journal is vindicated. They got raked over the coals for their lengthy piece about members of Congress noticing the mental decline of Joe Biden. That piece dropped in June, weeks before the president suffered an election-killing blow during his debate with Donald Trump. Whatever veneer of mental vibrancy that was manufactured by the White House got obliterated, with the media also being branded, and rightly so, to avoid reporting on such a story out of fear of helping Trump or losing access. With everyone laser-focused on Biden’s mental acuity, there was no way to spin some of the flubs that legacy media often dismissed.

The Journal noted that he exhibited just enough sharpness to quell concerns from allies and officials, keeping Biden somewhat alive behind closed doors. That quickly dissipated as his presidency progressed. Even foreign officials noticed the decline, with some becoming disturbed that the leader of the free world was presenting with signs of age they had seen in their parents. The Wall Street Journal charts the long and winding road to the Biden White House’s demise. It’s chock full of deflections, pivots, and spin from Biden’s communications team and officials who, for some reason, are still defending this man’s mental health. Still, this passage about Pelosi cleaning up Biden’s mess when he was trying to pass the infrastructure bill is jarring and sets up for quite the political dirge

President Biden had just finished trying to persuade a group of congressional Democrats to pass a $1 trillion infrastructure bill when Nancy Pelosi, then the House speaker, took the microphone.

In 30 minutes of remarks on Capitol Hill, Biden had spoken disjointedly and failed to make a concrete ask of lawmakers, according to Democrats in the room. After he left, a visibly frustrated Pelosi told the group she would articulate what Biden had been trying to say, one lawmaker said.

“It was the first time I remember people pretty jarred by what they had seen,” recalled Rep. Dean Phillips (D., Minn.), who would go on to mount an unsuccessful primary challenge against the president.

That was October 2021. That month was the last time Biden met with the House Democratic caucus on the Hill regarding legislation.

The man who prides himself on foreign policy wilted like a flower:

Many Democratic lawmakers said they were stunned by Biden’s condition in the debate in part because their contact with him has been so limited over the past three years…

Senior officials at cabinet agencies have privately complained for years that they didn’t have enough contact with the president and his senior team, who centralized power in the White House and directed much of the administration’s policy activity.

[…]

In spring 2022, some European officials began to notice that something might be amiss. Biden was chairing an online video call on Ukraine with the G-7 leaders, a tightly scheduled discussion where Biden called on one leader at a time to give a statement. Sitting in the Oval Office, Biden at one point forgot to unmute his mic, then lost his train of thought and began mumbling, according to an official on the call. He appeared to lose the order of which leader should speak next, and then tried to end the call without calling on Macron. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau intervened to remind him, and Macron was given his turn.

[…]

Top allies of the president, meanwhile, were encouraging the president to “own” his age and turn it into an asset. Movie mogul and campaign co-chair Jeffrey Katzenberg pointed to other icons born in the 1940s and still working today, such as Harrison Ford.

In July 2023, the White House’s management of Biden’s schedule drew the attention of European officials during a five-day swing that included a NATO summit in Lithuania and a Nordic summit in Finland. Some of Biden’s private meetings and other elements of his schedule were removed or their length was reduced, two European diplomats said, prompting NATO diplomats to talk among themselves about how Biden’s exposure was closely managed by his team. Biden’s team told Nordic officials and diplomats that this was a tiring trans-Atlantic trip and the president was old, said one of the European diplomats.

“Now, looking back, it was noticeable last year,” the diplomat said.

Sullivan, the national security adviser, said on Sunday: “Give me a break,” pointing to Biden’s announcement of bilateral security agreements for Ukraine at the summit.

By the end of 2023, murmurs among Democrats about Biden’s condition had begun to grow. Donors who had met with Biden out West over the summer said the president appeared confused and disoriented at times. At a fundraiser in the fall, Biden told the same anecdote twice. At a White House Christmas party, a number of lawmakers who attended came away concerned about what they saw as a deterioration in Biden’s health.

[…]

In March, Biden assuaged concerns about his age when he delivered to Congress a feisty, hour-and-seven-minute State of the Union address, where he went off script to parry Republican criticism of his agenda. Mingling on the floor following his speech, Democrats congratulated Biden. “Nobody’s going to talk about cognitive impairment now,” New York Rep. Jerrold Nadler crowed.

Days later, European officials met with Biden at the White House for a late afternoon discussion focused on NATO security concerns and the Ukraine war. The president seemed reasonably sharp for the first half of the meeting, according to a person present.

But as the conversation wore on, the president began to flag noticeably, speaking slowly and at times in a way that was difficult to hear. Officials who had met him in previous years noted a sharp deterioration. The officials left the meeting saddened, feeling the president reminded some of their own parents as they aged, the person said.

The media tour that followed this disastrous debate, one set up to rehabilitate Biden, was another train wreck, where ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, who first interviewed the president during this tour that included BET and NBC News, was caught saying he didn’t think Biden could serve another term. All three interviews were disasters, with the BET one notable for Biden forgetting Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's name, the first black man to run the Pentagon. The president referred to him as “the black man.” Then, at fundraisers, like the one in East Hampton, Biden took questions but brought up senior adviser Mike Donilon to add the supplemental concerning donor questions, which attendees found bizarre.

The article further charts how things became dire on all campaign fronts when the dam finally broke following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump and the Republican National Convention. There was no money, and the pipelines were running dry. Donors were through with Biden to the point where down-ballot races were now at risk of being starved of funds. One thing that threw people through a loop within this circle was Biden’s re-election announcement, where it had been assumed that he was a “transition” president, serving one term as a bookmark for the next generation of leaders. The Democrats’ unexpected showing in the 2022 midterms changed the president’s tune. And a new plan was hatched, though one that involved gambling on a man who was severely degraded physically and mentally. The Los Angeles fundraiser he had with Obama reportedly shook the former president to his core, seeing how his ex-vice president had aged.

With the money running out, no new donors, a Hill revolt, and the base now vocally urging him to quit, Biden threw in the towel on July 21. But who is running the country?

Around the time Biden exited the 2024 race, he was collapsing on all fronts. Virginia, which hadn’t been a battleground state since 2004, was now within striking distance of Trump. Biden never led Trump in any polls, trailing the former president in all the crucial swing states. There is no pathway to 270 and no way to pay for it. The president quit, a historic action from a man who never had what it took to be president.

NYC Business Struggles To Stay Afloat Amid Swarms Of Migrant Thieves

Migrants camp outside a hotel where they had previously been housed, as they resist efforts by the city to relocate them to a Brooklyn facility for asylum seekers.

NYC store owner Chris Sciacco says that he is struggling to keep his business afloat due to the amount of shoplifting perpetrated by migrants in Queens, New York.

Sciacco’s shop, Kaiya’s Pallets, is a variety store that sells food items and other essentials. It is located only a few blocks away from 17 different migrant shelters in the area.

In an interview with the outlet New York Post, Sciacco claims that his store is being targeted up to “six times a week,” with losses costing him at least $3,000 a month.

“It’s not fair that these people can come into my store and steal willy-nilly and nothing gets done about it,” said Sciacco.

His business opened in 2021 and only saw less than a handful of thefts in their first year of business. However, the recent flood of migrants into the city has resulted in Sciacco’s business becoming a frequent target of shoplifting.

“I am barely getting by. I don’t see how I can continue at this rate,” Sciacco explained.

Sciacco says that he is also frustrated by the lack of response by the New York Police Department. He recalls one experience when his store was facing ongoing thefts. Sciacco had repeatedly called the NYPD numerous times, but to no avail.

“I also tried to flag down over 30 cop cars on the street, and not one stopped to help me or even see what was wrong,” he proclaimed.

Sciacco’s situation is exacerbated by the massive influx of illegal immigrants pouring through the southern border throughout the Biden administration.

Late last year, NYC Mayor Eric Adams (D-N.Y.) stated, “Let me tell you something New Yorkers, never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to – I don’t see an ending to this.”

“This issue will destroy New York City,” he added.

With no incoming assistance or help from the NYPD, Sciacco says that he simply resorted to creating a “Wall of Shame,” where thieves’ pictures are framed along the store’s wall, accompanied with descriptions of the stolen items they had taken.

Jimmy Carter 'Death Hoax' Goes Viral, Even Tricking One Senator

NEW YORK, NY – MARCH 26: Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter

A fake letter that falsely claimed former President Jimmy Carter had died has gone viral on social media platforms, duping many, including Utah’s Republican senator, Mike Lee,

as well as multiple news outlets.

Right-wing media personality Laura Loomer appears to have reposted the screenshot, leading a massive wave of circulation on X (Twitter).

After later realizing the post was fabricated, Loomer responded on the social media platform once more.

“It appears that the Letter saying Jimmy Carter has passed away is fabricated. Gross. Why would someone fabricate a letter saying a President died? I have deleted the letter and I’m keeping President Carter and his family in my prayers. People should not post death hoaxes,” she stated.

The Carter Center and former President Carter’s doctor have both confirmed that, although he is in poor health, he is still alive.

Carter has been receiving hospice care at his home in Plains, Georgia, since February 2023.

Reuters later reached out to the owner of the account who took credit for creating the letter, stating:

“I created it last night. The amount of misinformation which spread throughout the weekend surrounding the state of President Biden’s health was maddening…. I wanted to prove that many people on X often spread sensational news and headlines without actually fact checking or double checking the source content.”

Loomer has now been facing slight backlash after a slew of X users pointed out how “clearly fake” the letter seemed. Loomer has since deleted the post.

The fourth paragraph of the letter stated:

“At her passing last November, President Carter stated, ‘Rosalynn was a baddie. Jill, Melania, even throat goat Nancy Reagan had nothing on Rosalynn. She was the original Brat.”

The New York Post and Scripps News outlets also published articles on the fake letter before realizing their mistake.

Sen. Hawley: DHS Must Respond to New Whistleblower Claims

Sen. Hawley: DHS Must Answer New Whistleblower Rooftop Claims

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., has called for an investigation into alleged security failures occurring on the day of Donald Trump's attempted assassination due to new whistleblower information.

Hawley sent a letter on Monday to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas demanding answers based on new whistleblower information suggesting that law enforcement personnel were assigned to be on the roof of a building during Trump's attempted assassination but abandoned the post.

"Contrary to [Secret Service] Director [Kimberly] Cheatle's public statements about the 'safety' of the sloped roof of American Glass Research Building 6," wrote Hawley, "one whistleblower with direct knowledge of Secret Service planning for the event alleges that there was supposed to be a law enforcement presence on the roof that day [...] but this person abandoned his or her post due to the hot weather.

"The whistleblower further alleges that concerns over the heat prompted law enforcement to forgo patrolling Building 6 and instead to station security personnel inside the building," Hawley continued.

On Friday, Hawley visited the scene in Butler, Pennsylvania, following the attempted assassination of Trump. Multiple whistleblowers have confirmed that the event was considered a "loose" security event.

Consequently, Hawley has requested that the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee conduct a detailed and open inquiry into the incident, which would involve testimony under oath from DHS and Secret Service officials.

Hawley's push for a comprehensive investigation seeks to guarantee accountability and transparency from these agencies.

Polls on Harris Are Going to Make Dems Rip Their Hair Out After Subverting Democracy to Boot Biden

This is the best the Democrats have 😏

The top Democrats have been flipping out since the debate, seeing their chances to win slipping away and finally being successful in pushing a very reluctant Joe Biden out of the 2024 race.

They were losing in the polls with Biden, which is why they did it. It wasn't because they suddenly realized he was incoherent. It's all about holding onto control. They're all fearful of former President Donald Trump coming in, not because they really think he's a "threat to democracy" but because they fear he might actually start holding people accountable.

So they threw Biden under the bus and now many have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to take his place. Folks like Barack Obama are still silent on the matter, so it remains to be seen if it will be her. But at the moment, she would have to be called the front-runner for the nomination. No one else has so far stepped into the ring.

But so far, it's incredibly ironic karma that after all that effort, it sounds like Kamala is doing "not really any better" than Biden in the polls, as even MSNBC's Steve Kornacki admitted.

Trump is still up, 47 to 46 percent, according to Kornacki.

He said the belief from Democrats that Kamala is going to fare better than Biden in the general election is based more on "hope" than on the numbers. Whoops. That isn't going to make that MSDNC audience happy, prepare for tantrums and ripping their hair out.

The Real Clear Politics average has Trump up over Harris 48.1 to 46.2 percent.

Click to see the full tweet:

As you can see, in the most recent poll recorded there, the Forbes/Harris X poll, that has Trump up by six points, that's counting the "leans," 53 to 47 percent with registered voters.

Notice also that Trump is way up with the independents, 56-44.

With likely voters, Harris does even worse, with leans, it's at 54 to 46 percent, with Trump up by eight.

Even the Democrat internal polls earlier in the month aren't good for Harris.

There was movement in the post-drop-out Morning Consult poll, moving a few points from where Biden was. But Kamala was still down two points to Trump. 47 to 45 percent.

Now, this is all very new and she's not even the nominee yet, so we'll have to see if there's any further movement in the polls if she really becomes the nominee. But right now, it's looking a bit like they booted Biden but Kamala still isn't going to get them there.

Rep. Mike Waltz Gives Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle No Quarter in Oversight Hearing

Representative waltz, 67% aus beachtliches Angebot - midaseuro.com
Mike Waltz

Mike Waltz

Watching the House Oversight Committee hearing Monday, in which Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle was raked over the coals by Democrats and Republicans alike for the colossal failure surrounding security at former President Donald Trump's Butler, Pennsylvania, July 13 rally, I observed that I've had rough days at work before, but Cheatle's was next level. She faced four-plus hours of withering criticism and bipartisan calls for her resignation.

Rare Bipartisanship: Even Dems Like Ro Khanna and Kweisi Mfume Call on Cheatle to Resign

There were several stunning moments during the hearing, but when it came time for Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) to question Cheatle, fireworks were practically assured, given the pushback Waltz had received from the Secret Service spokesman and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for asserting that Homeland Security and the Secret Service had rebuffed the Trump campaign's request for stronger protection. Waltz had already called out Mayorkas on Twitter/X for lying to the American people, citing the Washington Post story confirming his claims.

Waltz Blasts Mayorkas for Dismissing His Charge
Secret Service Denied Trump More Protection

As anticipated, Waltz gave Cheatle no quarter when it came to the issue of the security failures and the denial of the campaign's requests for added Secret Service protection. He started by showing her video of Mayorkas telling CNN that Waltz's claims were "a baseless and irresponsible statement — one that is unequivocally false." Waltz confirmed that Cheatle had spoken with Mayorkas prior to his making that statement on CNN.

Cheatle averred that she informed Mayorkas that all requests from the campaign for that rally had been fulfilled. And this became the crux of the issue — throughout the hearing, Cheatle repeatedly sidestepped the broader question of requests for added protection by limiting her response solely to the rally itself.

Waltz observed:

Okay, you continue to answer that very carefully. Because I made a broader statement. The agents that came to me made a broader statement — that his permanent protective detail, for years now, have been asking for more. Is that correct?

Cheatle bent over backward to avoid answering the question directly, first saying she didn't have the requests in front of her (which wasn't what Waltz had asked) and then noting that there are times when, depending on "the availability of assets," they might try to "mitigate" the vulnerability "in a different way."

Waltz pressed further.

So...in the immediate 48 hours of an assassination attempt on a former president — could be the next leader of the free world — almost had his head blown off, your boss says "That's irresponsible and false" to say things were denied? And you had talked to him. So did he just... make that up on his own? Or did you tell him that?

Cheatle again limited the response to the rally. But Waltz then confronted her with the statement from Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi, which asserted that:

Theres an untrue assertion that a member of the former President’s team requested additional security resources & that those were rebuffed. This is absolutely false. In fact, we added protective resources & technology & capabilities as part of the increased campaign travel tempo

Waltz asked if Cheatle signed off on the statement. Again, she attempted to avoid a direct answer, but ultimately, she acknowledged she had.

Waltz then turned to the matter of press conferences and updating the public on pertinent information following the assassination attempt.

WALTZ: Madam Director, how many press conferences have you held since the assassination attempt?

CHEATLE: We have put out, um, press relea—

WALTZ: How many press conferences have you held, gone to the mic, taken questions from the public, from the media....how many?

CHEATLE: I have not held any.

WALTZ: How many...has Secretary Mayorkas held?

CHEATLE: I don't—

WALTZ: Zero. How many has the FBI held? Zero. How many has the Department of Justice held? (pause) I know you know the answer.

CHEATLE: I believe there was a press conference in Butler after the incident occurred.

WALTZ: By local law enforcement. Not by you and not by the Department of Homeland Security.

Huge Response Problem of Secret Service

Rep. McClain Brings Straight Fire to Kim Cheatle, 'What Are You Covering Up?'

Waltz made the point that this lack of information is what drives people to speculate and come up with "misinformation" about what happened, including national news anchors claiming the incident was a hoax. Waltz then noted that Cheatle had done nothing to diffuse any of the incorrect notions about the incident, adding:

Madam Director, I would fire you — regardless of the failure — I would fire you just how you've handled it since. You should have been the first to the mics, to say, "America, world, I want to assure you we're going to get to the bottom of this. I want to assure you full transparency. Our agency clearly had major gaps here. And I want to personally take responsibility and accountability. You should have been the first, standing alongside Secretary Mayorkas. And I would even go so far as to say have daily press conferences, updating everyone on what we know. But you haven't had any of that. What are you hiding behind? Because you're making the situation worse. I think you've heard that on a bipartisan basis here: You are making this situation far worse in the absence of information.

Waltz finished off the thrashing by noting that Cheatle was originally scheduled to fly out to the Aspen Security Forum to "hob nob around" with the "liberal elite" during the RNC last week before calling on her to follow the example of her predecessors who resigned after security failures.

Given the furor directed at her over the failures and lack of accountability, I suspect Cheatle's days (hours?) as Secret Service Director are numbered.

'Palace Coup': Dem Bigwigs Threatened to Forcibly Remove Biden From Office Unless He Quit

If these reports are true, the final weeks of the Biden White House in campaign mode were something like the final hours of Davy Crockett and his stand at the Alamo. The June 27 debate proved to be the election-killing event we all thought it was from both liberal and conservative sides of the aisle. Donald Trump demolished the president, sparking the rebellion that eventually led to Biden dropping out of the race on July 21.

There was no party, donor, or media support when the walls finally closed on the president during the Republican convention. Once the dam broke, there was no coming back, but other forces were reportedly at play. For one, top Democrats reportedly threatened to remove Biden from office via the 25th Amendment if he didn’t stand aside (via NY Post):

Operatives at the very highest levels of the Democratic Party threatened Joe Biden with forcibly removing him from office unless he stepped down, sources told The Post.

The well-orchestrated “palace coup” to stop the faltering president seeking re-election has been in place for weeks, but stubborn Biden fought against it every step of the way, a source close to the Biden family told The Post Monday.

The insider also made clear the anger, paranoia and frustration Biden displayed as the party elite circled around him and piled on the pressure.

[…]

“That debate was a set-up to convince Democrats that he couldn’t run for president,” a source close to the Biden family told The Post Monday.

As calls for him to bow out mounted, Biden insisted he would continue, but party bigwigs threatened to invoke the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution.

[…]

Although Biden immediately endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate for president, the source said Democratic delegates will be strongly encouraged to instead back Arizona senator and former astronaut Mark Kelly for president at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in August.

And that’s where I start questioning the source: Mark Kelly 2024? Is everyone hitting Hunter Biden’s crackpipe? Kamala is the clear choice for Democrats, despite the smoke-filled shenanigans occurring with the delegates right now. It wouldn’t shock me if the 25th Amendment was discussed, even shoved in Biden’s face when things got even more dire once polling showed the president collapsing in blue wall states and Virginia. The media rehabilitation tour that started at ABC News didn’t get better, with host George Stephanopoulos admitting that he felt Joe couldn’t serve another four years.

There was a palace coup of sorts, with Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi leading the charge behind the scenes; Pelosi took the gloves off once the GOP convention started. Even at her age, the California liberal remains lethal and possesses political skills Biden could only dream about.

Yet, this Mark Kelly bit seems absurd. I’ve seen that name floated as Kamala Harris’s potential running mate, but for president—no. Stop it. The way Biden exited the race was weird: the tweet of the ‘I quit’ letter, no official White House photo of Biden as he exited, and then silence for days. It’s a historic event; there’s no photo. He’s recovering from COVID, so I get no address; the absence has led to rumors that Biden might be dead. On Monday, he called Kamala HQ in Wilmington, Delaware, and it sounded like death. I’m not saying there was a coup, but the way it was executed was very Belarusian.

The more pressing question is, who’s running the country?
