Ariz. Sheriff: Feds Order Release of Illegals

The U.S. Border Patrol has told its agents to stop arresting illegal aliens crossing the border from Mexico to keep the illegal immigration numbers down, Arizona Sheriff Larry Dever tells Newsmax.

He also charges that Attorney General Eric Holder is “holding hands with the ACLU” to protect illegal aliens from prosecution, says illegals are committing “heinous crimes” across America every day, and calls claims that the federal government should be solely responsible for controlling illegal immigration “balderdash.”

Dever is sheriff of Cochise County, which shares an 83-mile border with Mexico, and he says his Border Patrol sector is responsible for half of all illegal aliens caught trying to enter the country and halt the narcotics entering the United States.

White House Battles High Gas Prices; Hopes to Reinforce Consumer Confidence

As gas prices inch towards $4 a gallon nationally, the White House is doing its best to counter Americans' fears those prices will continue upwards over the summer. White House Chief Economist Austan Goolsbee told Fox News that it cost him $75 to fill up his car recently but added the higher gas prices haven't dampened consumer confidence.

Citizens Oppose Preferential Tuition Rates for Illegal Aliens

tuition_battle58,000 signatures needed to get issue on 2012 ballot
Marylanders, frustrated with a bill granting in-state college tuition rates to some illegal immigrants, have launched a petition drive to send the measure to voters.
Parrott and his team set up www.mdpetitions.com, where petition supporters can print out copies and read instructions on how to collect signatures.
The goal is to get enough signatures from registered voters to put the tuition measure on the 2012 general election ballot for voters to decide. They need 18,500 signatures by the end of May and about 58,000 signatures by the end of June – the latter representing 3 percent of Maryland’s voters.
“The people of Maryland are upset this bill passed. They’re upset because they thought illegal means illegal,” said Del. Neil Parrott, R-Washington County, who is running the petition effort.http://www.usbc.org/destroying-america/immigration-news/citizens-oppose-preferential-tuition-rates-for-illegal-aliens/

Pelosi Caught Flip-Flopping Big Time on Bin Laden

Nancy Pelosi, press conference, September 7, 2006:

Even if Osama bin Laden is caught tomorrow, it is five years too late. He has done more damage the longer he has been out there. But, in fact, the damage that he has done ... is done. And even to capture him now I don't think makes us any safer.

Nancy Pelosi, earlier today (May 3, 2011)
The death of Osama bin Laden marks the most significant development in our fight against al-Qaida. ... I salute President Obama, his national security team, Director Panetta, our men and women in the intelligence community and military, and other nations who supported this effort for their leadership in achieving this major accomplishment. ... The death of Osama bin Laden is historic....

John Ransom Email, Hate Mail and Comments from Readers

Wow. What a week.

Our debt chicken came home to roost, twice; our economy is stalling; Superman’s going international and electric cars will, sooner or later, be deemed a threat to a type of ground squirrel that you and I have never heard of.

Oh, and make sure you read Mike Shedlock's excellent piece about California Coercion, Threats and Bribery by Unions.

Here’s this week’s Email, Hate Mail and Comments from Readers:

Blair-

The funny thing is that when I first read about the new Superman storyline, I immediately thought of the new Coke/old Coke controversy. By introducing a new formulation of Coke, the Coca Cola company made fans remember all the things they loved about the real thing (pun intended).

But the analogy fell apart when I realized the big difference: Coke is just a product; Superman is a character. He’s a character who is supposed to represent “Truth, Justice and the American Way.”

That’s heady American stuff.

SNL already discussed the implication of a non-American Superman in great detail in Season 4, episode 10 in a segment called “What if?” starring Michael Palin- no relation to Sarah I suppose.

Well, here's tonight's dramatization of: What if Superman had grown up in Germany instead of America?”

“I am.. Uberman! I have superhuman powers, and I fight for untruth, injustice, and the Nazi way.”

Sounds like he works for ACORN.

Chuck wrote: In your article today, “It Tax a Village”, you illustrate why we need the FairTax Act of 2011 (HR 25/S 13). -in response to my column It Tax a Village

There are lots of reasons why we need a fair tax. The biggest reason is that it’s, um, fair. But also, one of the main sources of corruption in our government is the subtle tilting of the tax code in order to bribe certain groups.

Liberals would contend that the tax code is set up to favor the rich.

I disagree. http://finance.townhall.com/columnists/johnransom/2011/05/01/email,_hate_mail_and_comments_from_readers
