The Senate Minority Leader claimed Democrats are blocking Joe Biden from making a deal with Republicans on coronavirus relief.

On Wednesday, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) slammed Democrats for their push towards budget reconciliation. This came after moderate GOP lawmakers met with Biden to unveil their own stimulus package that would cost significantly less than the $1.9 trillion Democrat plan.

McConnell noted Democrat hypocrisy, claiming they continually blocked Republican stimulus options over the summer despite their calls for bipartisanship.

We’ve heard a lot of talk about unity, but White House staff and congressional Democrats are working from the opposite playbook. Senate Republicans will be ready and waiting with a host of amendments to improve the rushed procedural step that’s being jammed through. pic.twitter.com/HjAPLAg2Ae

“But the rushed budget process that will play out this week is exactly, exactly the wrong path towards making law,” McConnell said. “Senate Republicans will be ready and waiting with a host of amendments to improve the rushed procedural step that’s being jammed through.”

McConnell noted Biden may be more open to working with Republicans than his colleagues and staff members.
