Texas House passes open carry bill in final vote

Texas lawmakers have passed a bill that would allow adults over 21 years of age to carry a gun without a permit or a license. The ‘Constitutional Carry’ bill passed the State House in a final vote Friday.

Breaking: The Texas House has voted to pass a "constitutional carry" bill, which would allow handguns to be carried without a permit in the state.

The bill seeks to no longer require Texans to take written exams or training tests before purchasing a handgun. Handguns will still be illegal in schools, sporting events and hospitals.

The bill’s sponsor, State Representative Matt Schaefer (R) said the legislation would allow more people to be able to protect themselves and their families.
