KJP Tries to Gaslight Everyone on Whose Fault It Is That Springfield, OH, Is Overwhelmed by Haitians

Earlier on Friday, President Joe Biden was the featured speaker at a first-ever brunch event at the White House to honor Black Excellence. As my colleague Sister Toldjah wrote, Biden was back to his old tricks, by likely thwarting the carefully curated remarks cobbled together by his minders. Recall when they made a big deal about former President Donald Trump talking about "black jobs"?

But there was another moment when Biden spoke off the cuff--possibly from newly written notes, which he gave before the remarks scrolling on the teleprompter. At 24:43 in the video, Biden delivers the expected, warmed-over, leftist attack of racism against Trump, about the former president's comment during the ABC News presidential debate about the current chaos in Springfield, Ohio, and rumors about people's pets being stolen (and possibly eaten). The screaming is back: [Editor's note: There's a temporary tech issue that isn't allowing the two videos in the piece to play; they are linked in the story, and can be watched on the official WH YouTube page.]

He said:

I want to take a moment to say something. Like so many Americans — like (press secretary) Karine (Jean-Pierre), as you [a previous speaker] point out, a proud Haitian American, a community that’s under attack in our country right now. It’s simply wrong. And there’s no place in America. This has to stop — what he’s doing — has to stop.

CNN accidentally spilled some tea on the way this WH event was originally planned: Kamala Harris was scheduled to give remarks, not Joe. They don't really give a good explanation on why; maybe she was taping that solo softball interview with the Philly news guy.

Anyway, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre picked up the baton from Biden during the afternoon press briefing, and tried to gaslight everyone on who is to blame for Springfield getting overwhelmed by the Haitian immigrants. I'll share that in a minute.

Here was her backing up Biden's messaging:

"It is extremely sad and concerning, that a community is facing this type of danger and vitriol, and as the president said today, I think very forcefully, this needs to stop. And there is absolutely no place - absolutely no place, in this country, you know, certainly in our political discourse for this type of vitriolic, smearing hateful language," she said, emphasizing the danger of "hateful conspiracy theories."

KJP also mentioned in response to a reporter's question during the press briefing that she took the remarks personally:

Jean-Pierre, who herself is Haitian-American, said that she takes it personally when "any community, any vulnerable community is attacked, not just not just a community that I belong to.

That's when the despicable gaslighting began; she claimed that Springfield, and cities across the U.S., would not be in the mess they are in if Republicans had passed the Dems' awful immigration bill. Of course, in legacy media circles, it's all Donald Trump's fault, which she makes sure to get in there. So far, she said, the administration has doled out "more than $1.3 billion in grant funding to jurisdiction[s] around the country to help with the influx and what they're dealing with":

"We've delivered resources to Ohio as well to cities, states and nonprofits across the country. Since the spring, DHS (Department of Homeland Security) has been directly engaged with the city of Springfield and local officials to make sure they have the support they need. And we want to do more. We would like to do more. That's why we did the bipartisan proposal, with the Senate early - at the end of last year - obviously early into this year. And it was stopped,

She continued:

But in order to help more, Jean-Pierre said, "we need more funding, we need more." She repeatedly laid blame on Congressional Republicans, who she said is [sic] at fault for spiking the bipartisan border legislation that would have provided funding for places like Springfield.

Jean-Pierre said:

It was stopped because the former president said that bill, that particular proposal would hurt him and help Joe Biden. And so, Republicans in Congress stopped that. It would have given more resources to cities like Springfield, Ohio.

The gaslighting on the issues in Springfield, Ohio, Denver, Colorado, and elsewhere in the country, whether it's Republicans' fault because they didn't bend to progressives on that bill, or trying to pretend it's racism, is getting no traction. The outright lie that it was done on the orders of Donald Trump is getting tired and worn out, all of these months later. No, this is completely at the feet of Biden and Harris, and their incompetence on handling illegal immigration at the southern border with Mexico. At this point, it's clear no one is buying the excuses for the Biden-Harris border crisis but the true believers.
