I don't think it's a surprise that folks in Washington, D.C., tend to be liberal. So it probably wouldn't be surprising to have people who might not be fans of the Department of Government Efficiency just because of its connection to the Trump administration. But when Fox interviewed folks about government spending, the exchanges were hilarious when they found out just how our money was being spent. They thought the government spent too much money, one saying, "By definition." But then, when Fox asked about some of the crazy things that the government spent money on, they were stunned at how ridiculous the expenditures were. The Fox interviewer asked about the government spending $750,000 to determine whether it was "one small step for man" or "one small step for a man" in regard to the moon landing. What the heck? As the D.C. resident said, not just why would you do that, but how could you spend that much money on that question? Then there was $1 million to study if cocaine makes quail more promiscuous. Exactly why would you be studying that? One of the D.C. residents just laughed at how ridiculous that was -- he couldn't believe it. He also couldn't believe the next one: $100,000 to determine if tequila or gin makes sunfish more aggressive? "Sunfish? Wow!" he said, amazed at that one. There was, of course, one resident who wanted to talk about military spending and seemed to pooh-pooh the other spending. But most of the residents at the end of the interview said yes, some of the spending should be reevaluated. DOGE co-head Vivek Ramaswamy explained how people would be with them once they realized how much bad spending was going on. DOGE co-head Elon Musk also noted how what the Fox report mentioned wasn't even the tip of the iceberg, that there was so much more that taxpayers were going to be made about. There's a tremendous amount of waste, and more examples than you can count of things like the Fox interviewer was listing. But beyond the waste, DOGE is targeting the unnecessary regulations and the things that haven't been approved by Congress to cut back the unhinged, unelected bureaucratic insanity. They're even talking about deleting whole agencies like Argentina's leader Javier Milei has done and brought fantastic change and a fiscal surplus for the first time in 123 years. They're even talking about saving potentially billions by privatizing the U.S. Postal Service, which continues to lose billions each year. Elon and Vivek also plan on doing regular podcasts or "DOGE casts" to inform the American people about their findings and what they are doing -- also something of which government needs to do more.
