Colorado Senator Loses It on Tulsi Gabbard at Hearing, Sounds Like Crazy Shrieking Guy at HOA Meeting

Senator Michael Bennet from Colorado - Born in New Delhi India (What the hell?)

There were plenty of fireworks at Director of National Intelligence Nominee Tulsi Gabbard's Thursday confirmation hearing at the Senate—as expected—and she got things going right away by delivering a bombshell opening statement where she blasted the Biden administration’s use of "faulty or weaponized intelligence," including the Russia collusion hoax, the 51 former intel officials' Hunter Biden laptop letter and more.

But as we see so often in these hearings, Democrats don’t actually have an interest in listening to what the nominees have to say; they just want to bluster and pontificate and hope they get a viral video out of it that they can fundraise off of. I’d be surprised if a single mind has been changed over the course of all the confirmation sessions—it’s not like California’s deranged Adam Schiff is suddenly going to be swayed by anything FBI Director Kash Patel has to say.

It’s not a shock then that we are seeing people like Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and the aforementioned Schiff grandstanding and bloviating for the cameras. There could be a surprise challenger to the title of the “Most Obnoxious Senator in a Committee Meeting” award, though, and it’s Michael Bennet from Colorado.

He tore into Tulsi Gabbard over her past statements regarding Edward Snowden, who stands accused of leaking classified information from the National Security Agency in 2013 and has since fled to Russia. As Bennet's little monologue went on, he became increasingly unhinged to the point where I worried we’d need to call an ambulance, and he had exactly zero interest in Gabbard’s responses. In fact, he would barely let her get in a word edgewise.

Watch:

Does this sound like a serious, sober committee meeting in the “anchor of government” of the most powerful country in the world, or does it seem like the weird guy who shows up late to the HOA meeting and starts shrieking?

The exchanges over Snowden reached a contentious peak when midway through the hearing Colorado Democrat Michael Bennet began yelling in an ear-bursting tone at Gabbard over her refusal to call the turncoat a 'traitor.'

'This is when the rubber hits the road,' Bennet yelled at Gabbard. 'This is not even to make sure this is not a moment for social media. It's not a moment to propagate theories or attacks on journalism in the United States.'

'This is when you need to answer the questions of the people whose votes you're asking for to be confirmed as the chief intelligence officer of this nation.'

RedState's Susie Moore had thoughts:

Regardless of your thoughts on Gabbard’s past statements regarding Snowden—I would have liked to hear her present thinking on the matter, but that didn't happen here because Bennet relentlessly interrupted her—this display by the surfer-dude-sounding senator was an embarrassment.
