President Donald Trump has called on the company behind the Keystone XL pipeline
to return to America and finish the project. And he's promising a fast-track process to get the job done. On his first day in office, former President Joe Biden signed a series of executive orders that included revoking “permits signed over the past 4 years that do not serve the U.S. national interest, including revoking the Presidential permit granted to the Keystone XL pipeline.” Trump, who made a return to American energy independence a cornerstone of his presidential campaign, took to Truth Social and called on the company involved in the pipeline — TC Energy Corporation — to "get it built." "Our Country’s doing really well, and today, I was just thinking, that the company building the Keystone XL Pipeline that was viciously jettisoned by the incompetent Biden Administration should come back to America, and get it built — NOW!" he wrote. "I know they were treated very badly by Sleepy Joe Biden, but the Trump Administration is very different — Easy approvals, almost immediate start!" Trump suggested that if TC Energy Corp. does not want to take on the project's revival, he would be open to another stepping in. "We want the Keystone XL Pipeline built!" he emphasized. RedState readers have seen consistent coverage since Trump's victory in November, hinting that the new administration will seek to bring back the Keystone XL pipeline. A former worker on the project said reviving Keystone would "make a big difference" in lowering the cost of everyday items for the American people, including "your energy cost, your food cost, your gas that you put in your cars." Reversing Biden's Legacy: Trump Reportedly to Revive Keystone XL Pipeline; Workers Ecstatic Trump Plans Return to American Energy Independence. What Will the Climate Scolds Say? The pipeline was designed to transport crude oil from Alberta, Canada, and the northern U.S. to refineries along the Gulf Coast, with a capacity of up to 830,000 barrels per day. It could have been transporting that capacity and lowering costs for some time now, with it originally scheduled for completion in early 2023. And, as Fox News points out, it "would have created between 16,149 and 59,000 jobs and would have had a positive economic impact of between $3.4 and $9.6 billion, citing various studies." A statement by Mark McManus, General President of The United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA), predicted energy prices would soar after Biden killed the project. “For the average American family, it means energy costs will go up and communities will no longer see the local investments that come with pipeline construction," he said. Those costs, to put it mildly, did, in fact, go up. Additionally, in his quest to placate climate alarmists, Biden killed a project that TC Energy Corp. had vowed would be environmentally friendly. In a statement around the same time, the company indicated they would achieve “net zero emissions across the project operations” in 2023 and “be fully powered by renewable energy sources” by 2030. To summarize: On his first day in office, Biden killed tens of thousands of jobs and an energy source that would have lowered costs for the American people while promising to be environmentally friendly. It's that level of unbridled brilliance that Trump will overcome in his second-term effort to bring energy independence back to the United States. |
