U.S. Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) speaks to members of the press prior
to a vote at the U.S. Capitol on February 18, 2025 in Washington, DC. Republican Senator Markwayne Mullin stated on Sunday that he doesn’t “believe for one second” that Russia would invade any other countries out of “fear” of President Donald Trump. Mullins (R-Okla.) comments followed after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asserted that Russia is imminently planning on attacking NATO countries.
Mullin seemingly responded to Zelensky’s claim in a Sunday interview on NBC News’ “Meet the Press.”
Mullin went on to question the United States’ NATO membership, stating that the U.S. should only stay in the alliance “if it’s in our interest.”
The Oklahoma senator continued, recounting a 2017 standoff with Russia when President Trump firmly pressed Russian President Vladimir Putin over the Syrian civil war.
Meanwhile, President Trump’s administration has been continuing ongoing peace talks with Russia and Ukraine, stating on Friday that he had “very good talks with Putin,” and “not such good talks with Ukraine.” President Trump and Zelensky have had a recent falling out, after Trump demanded for Kyiv to repay the United States for the billions in aid that the Biden administration handed out. Zelensky has vowed not to pay back prior military aid, adding that he would be willing to return funds to America in exchange for future military assistance. Zelensky also revealed that he would be willing to step down as president in exchange for peace, or Ukrainian admittance into NATO. Stay informed!
