Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass issued a wild statement on Friday in the wake of the start of the anti-ICE rioting in her city, saying "We will not stand for this." She didn't mean they wouldn't stand for the riots or obstructing law enforcement, she meant they wouldn't stand for the ICE actions.
She was ripped by Trump officials and many others over this incredible statement that many believe is encouraging the bad actions. She's saying "we" will not stand for the enforcement of the law. It's off the rails. However, now, she's issued another statement, and it looks like either she's had a bit of a change of heart, or she's fearing the feds. This is a 180 if there ever was a 180:
The "natural disaster" is presumably the devastating wildfires the L.A. area faced. Does Bass realize that she went too far or is she afraid the feds might hold her accountable? This statement comes after the reports about President Donald Trump calling in the California National Guard. READ MORE: Read the Official WH Statement on Trump Deployment of National Guard to L.A. While Mayor Bass is still speaking about fear of ICE actions, she's now saying they are talking with the Trump team and working with law enforcement to "find the best path forward." And on top of that, you finally see a condemnation of violence and destruction by the rioters, as well as saying people will be "held accountable." But it's a little too little, too late. She can't absolve herself from that horrible first statement or her failure to stand up for law enforcement in the face of attacks. The Democrat Party has never been less popular as voters reject their globalist agenda. |
