LAPD Chief Stiff-Arms Gavin Newsom, Won't Enforce Moronic Anti-ICE Law

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, like most other Democrat governors, has been doing all he can to impede U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement and prevent them from upholding immigration laws that were enacted by Congress. Although it was his predecessor, Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown, who declared California a sanctuary state in 2017, Newsom has done nothing to overturn that and has, in fact, railed endlessly against President Donald Trump and ICE for daring to attempt to solve the illegal alien crisis.

In the meantime, he has busted the budget by doling out billions in handouts and medical care to those who are in his state illegally.

But one of Gov. Hair Gel’s directives is too much for even the chief of the Los Angeles Police. In September, Newsom signed the No Secret Police Act (SB 627), which prohibits federal, state, and local law enforcement (including his hated ICE and DHS) from wearing ski masks, neck gaiters, or any face‑covering that hides identity.

Good luck with enforcement, Gavin. LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell won’t be helping you with that one:

LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell told Fox Los Angeles' "Good Day LA" that his department will not enforce the directive from California Gov. Newsom.

From a tactical perspective, having officers cite federal authorities for what amounts to a misdemeanor could be unsafe, he said.

In the above video, McDonnell laid out some reality about Newsom’s posturing law: it might sound good to your Chardonnay-sipping mom voters, but it’s a truly stupid idea:

The reality of one armed agency approaching another armed agency to create conflict over something that would be a misdemeanor at best, or an infraction. It doesn't make any sense.

It's not a good public policy decision, and it wasn't well thought out in my opinion.

Yes, yes, and more yes. "Wasn't well thought out" is a nice way of saying, "you fools in Sacramento have no idea what you're doing, do you?"

McDonnell further explained why the law is unworkable and, in fact, would likely lead to disaster if LAPD cops tried to start arresting federal agents:

"From a practical standpoint, our role when we get to a scene is to de-escalate the situation, not to ramp it up," McDonnell said. "Trying to enforce a misdemeanor violation on another law enforcement agency, that's not going to end well. And that's not going to be good." 

"From a public safety standpoint for anybody in that environment. Potentially you have a crowd that could be agitated and trying to get their point across," he added. "And then you have the ICE agents who are doing their job. And for us to come in then and try and create an enforcement action for wearing a mask, it's not a safe way to do business."

Pitting local law enforcement against the feds is a simply idiotic idea, and the chief pretty well explained why. But Newsom, and fellow zealot Larry Krasner — the Philadelphia District Attorney who has vowed to arrest and jail ICE agents for doing their jobs — don’t care about logic. They’re more interested in virtue-signaling and putting their own residents in danger by shoving their insane woke politics down their throats.

Good for Chief McDonnell for basically saying, “Take a hike, Gavin.”
