Surprise, Surprise: Company Handling Gavin Newsom's Diaper Boondoggle Has Link to First Partner Jennifer
On Friday, California Governor Gavin Newsom
preened and glowed as he announced his latest "affordability"
initiative: through a partnership with the non-profit Baby2Baby,
California hospitals will supply free diapers to parents of newborns.
HUGE NEWS: California just became the FIRST state in America to provide FREE DIAPERS to all new parents.
Launching this summer.
Since I became Governor, we have made preschool FREE, school meals FREE, and expanded paid family leave.
Stop talking about lowering costs for families — DO IT!
The press release from the Office of the California Governor was positively ecstatic:
Ahead
of Mother’s Day, Governor Gavin Newsom announced today that the state
is partnering with Baby2Baby, a leading national nonprofit organization
headquartered in California, to launch a first-in-the-nation program to
provide free diapers to all new babies born in California. Leveraging
the bulk purchasing power of the state, this new effort known as Golden
State Start will distribute high-quality, mass-produced diapers directly
to families through participating hospitals statewide.
As part of
a broader affordability strategy – including CalRx – the Newsom
administration is also exploring opportunities to lower the cost of
diapers by challenging high prices from major brands.
And the glossy press conference was over the top.
WATCH:
It is ironic that the state that rushed to codify abortion into its
constitution and pushed through $90 million in "emergency funding" for
California Planned Parenthood, now cares about what happens when an
actual birth is allowed to occur. Newsom is thirsty to appear
presidential, and to cover up his failed governance of the past eight years. He also takes every opportunity to try and one-up President Donald Trump (CalRX? Seriously?!), who is touring the nation ahead of the midterms to tout the benefits of his economic agenda.
So,
Newsom is pretending that he actually cares about affordability in one
of the most expensive and overtaxed states in the union. Now, the
governor has found something else on which to waste the taxpayers' money,
which he has less to play with thanks to the exodus of people who
actually earn and pay taxes rather than depend on government largesse.
Media
Research Center (MRC) Video's Managing Editor, Brittany Hughes, broke
down exactly how much of a waste this program will be.
This sounds cool. But wait.
400 diapers will last a family with a newborn approximately five weeks.
The program will cost the state approx. $12.4 million this year alone.
That
money will be funneled through a company called Baby2Baby, which will
then provide their branded diapers to 400 participating in hospitals
(California has over 500 hospitals in total.)
Meaning that instead
of lowering taxes and letting families keep their own money to buy
essentials like diapers, California takes their money, pumps it through a
“nonprofit” that has overhead and whose CEO made $240,000 in 2024, to
provide a “free” service available only in certain locations, and that
you could have bought yourself for much cheaper.
Where have we seen this before? Oh, yes, with the California Cannabis Tax Fund shell game which CalDOGE exposed. As RedState reported:
The
cannabis tax proceeds are supposed to be distributed through the
California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). However, DHCS has
disconnected itself from this process, instead contracting with The
Center at Sierra Health Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization, which acts
as the "de facto bank for the state's equity, prevention and youth
funding."
After The Center at Sierra Health Foundation takes as
much as 20 percent off the top for "administrative fees," it uses an
application process to sub-grant the remaining funds to community-based
organizations.
Of course, those purported community
organizations which received grants were merely fronts for Democrat and
progressive causes. Newsom loves to do this, and it appears Baby2Baby is
uniquely positioned to handle this latest boondoggle.
But
it goes deeper. Peering under the hood of this partnership with
Baby2Baby is revealing, to say the least. Norah Weinstein, the co-CEO of
Baby2Baby, just happens to be on the board of The California Partners
Project, one of First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom's non profits money-laundering schemes.
It's the grift that keeps on giving.
Gavin
Newsom just announced a shiny new taxpayer funded program giving free
diapers to newborns leaving California hospitals and his administration
is partnering with Baby2Baby with almost $20 MILLION in state funds to
manufacture them.

I’m sure it’s a total coincidence that one of
Baby2Baby’s Co-CEOs, Norah Weinstein, sits on the board of Gavin
Newsom’s wife’s California Partners Project.
Yet another conflict of interest
that gets bypassed because hey, it's Gavin and Jen. Peter B also does
the math on this scheme, which he rightly deems as "peak government
stupidity."
Ok… most of you know I was in the organic baby formula business, but what you don’t know is I dabbled in diapers as well.
I also know this baby2baby “non profit” and have had past interactions with them.. I’ll leave that out for now..

Let’s dive into this absolute grifting nonsense. Prepare to be shocked.
California is about to spend $20 million of taxpayer money to give 100,000 newborns 400 diapers each through Baby2Baby.
Do the math with me:
100,000 babies × 400 diapers = 40 million diapers
$20,000,000 ÷ 40,000,000 = $0.50 per diaper!!!!!
Now walk into any Costco in California and you can buy the same quality diapers for .12 to .15 cents each!
That’s $48 to $60 for 400 diapers.
So the state is paying 8–10x more per diaper than a regular family buying in bulk.
They
could’ve just handed every low-income new mom $100 cash and told her to
go to Costco. She’d get more diapers, better ones if she wanted, and
still have money left for formula, wipes, or whatever the hell she
actually needs.
But nah… that wouldn’t let Gavin and his connected
“nonprofit” girls running the show there cut ribbons, take photos, do
galas and be friends with celebrities and brag about the
“first-in-the-nation” program while skimming their cut for
“administration” and “partnerships.”
This is peak government stupidity!!!
Spend way more money to feel good and look good, instead of just trusting parents with their own damn money.
We’re not helping babies. We’re funding another bloated nonprofit-government grift.
Math doesn’t lie. The diaper math is brutal.
What a scam and a joke!!!!!
We must ensure that this corrupt pair never gets anywhere near the White House.
