On Tuesday, the Associated Press called the race with 32% of the total votes counted, projecting AOC as the winner with 88.2% of the vote.
GOP candidate Diamant Hysenaj (R-N.Y.)
ran uncontested, sending him straight to the November general election.
AOC faced a challenge from two other candidates, chiefly Marty Dolan (D-N.Y.), a moderate Democrat and former Wall Street investment banker who is ran a campaign explicitly positioned against “far-left radicalism.”

Felipe Garcia (D-N.Y.)
AOC’s other Democrat competitor, is a healthcare operations manager running on a platform focused on practical neighborhood solutions, safety and workforce pathways.
The 14th District is heavily progressive and considered a “safe Democrat” seat. Ocasio-Cortez will face off against Hysenaj in the general election on November 3, 2026.
