Greg Kelly Slams Anti-American Protesters at UFC Freedom 250

They came for a celebration of American strength and tradition, and Greg Kelly did what real journalists ought to do: he called out the performative protesters trying to turn a patriotic event into another newsroom narrative. On his Newsmax show he pushed back hard, reminding viewers that law and order matter more than virtue-signaling interruptions, and that if you want to complain, do it in the voting booth — not by trying to shut down a national commemoration.

The UFC Freedom 250 is scheduled to take place on the South Lawn of the White House on June 14, 2026, a once-in-a-generation event timed to patriotic observances and built around a packed card meant to entertain millions. Hosting a professional sporting event at the presidential residence is unprecedented in modern times, and conservatives should celebrate the boldness of reclaiming public spaces for Americans rather than letting them be ceded to agenda-driven activists.

Predictably, the usual legal alarms were sounded by groups seeking to block the event, but a federal judge rejected the bid to stop the fights from going forward, recognizing that this is a permitted use of public forums and that the lawsuit came far too late to upend massive, lawful preparations. That judicial decision was the sensible outcome — courts exist to uphold rules, not to become political cudgels for left-wing groups trying to micromanage public celebration.

Reporters complaining about access should remember that the White House has the authority to manage who is admitted to private events on the grounds, and for this occasion the press corps was informed they would not be allowed onto the South Lawn unless the UFC granted credentials. If Washington’s permanent media class truly cared about fairness they’d focus on covering the substance of the event instead of whining about process when those hosting the event set the terms.

The White House and UFC didn’t skimp on honoring the armed forces — roughly 1,200 active-duty troops have been invited to attend, a fitting tribute to the men and women who defend our liberty and the kind of audience that should be front and center at patriotic festivities. Conservatives ought to be proud that an event showcasing American athleticism will also prominently thank our service members, rather than letting activists talk over the moment.

Security officials have treated the Freedom 250 as a top-tier event and designated it accordingly, while critics tried every trick — from last-minute lawsuits to theatrical protests and even complaints about ancillary lighting — to make political hay. None of that should be surprising; the left’s playbook has been to obstruct, litigate, and denounce anything that draws crowds away from their narrative, but American traditions and free enterprise will not be bullied off the South Lawn.

At the end of the day this is about who owns America’s public life: will it belong to hardworking citizens who love our country and want to celebrate, or to a handful of activists and media elites who try to sanitize and politicize every living room? Greg Kelly’s blunt rebuke to the protesters was the right tone for these times — firm, unapologetic, and loyal to the idea that the White House should be a place where Americans of all stripes can gather and be entertained without being lectured by the professional aggrieved.
