Trump presents 2026 World Cup trophy after Spain defeats Argentina in dramatic finish

Following a thrilling extra-time triumph over Argentina, the Spanish national football team was presented with the World Cup trophy by President Donald Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The sold-out crowd erupted into a frenzy of celebration as Spain claimed its second World Cup title on Sunday, defeating long-time champions Argentina in a 1-0 extra-time battle.

Delivering the decisive blow from close range in the 106^th minute, Barcelona forward Ferran Torres capitalized on a perfectly placed header from winger Nico Williams, who had just met Pedro Porro’s pinpoint cross, securing a monumental victory.

“The goal belonged to 47 million people,” Torres said during a post-match interview on Sunday. “It wasn’t just mine or the 26 players. Destiny was written, and it was meant for us to win far away from our people.”

 

Amidst the deafening roars of a packed stadium, President Trump and Infantino presented the iconic World Cup Trophy to the Spain national football team, celebrating their hard-fought 1–0 extra-time victory.
