Angel Family Shows an Awe-Inspiring Handmade Gift to Honor Their Daughter During Convention

In between the slew of politicians speaking during the two-night Republican midterm convention event in Dallas were what the Republican National Committee (RNC) referred to as "Everyday Americans" - people who are not trying to win anyone's votes, but simply talking about issues impacting their daily lives.

During Night Two on Thursday, Rep. Mike Lawler (NY-17) shared his time on stage with some of those citizens. They are an Angel family known as the Gormans.

Jessica and Tom Gorman, and their daughter Madeline, appeared to speak about losing Sheridan, a daughter and sister, to the scourge of illegal immigration in sanctuary cities. In this case, Chicago.

Maddie mourned her little sister, describing the heartache for her family:

"Illegal immigration stole my little sister from me."

Madeline Gorman gets emotional remembering her sister Sheridan at the RNC Midterm Convention in Dallas, saying she thought they would have more time together.

"Politics stopped being theoretical for me. It became my sister's empty bedroom. Her silent phone, my parents collapsing in grief."

Tom urged Americans, regardless of their political party, to vote in the midterms and not wait for what happened to his family to "become your story":

Jess spoke about the creative side of Sheridan's personality, saying that the decorated jacket she was wearing was in her honor, as her daughter loved to make similar clothing for the people she loved. Then she showed the crowd her shoes, which belonged to Sheridan.

Possibly the most emotional part of the Gormans' time on stage was when Jess talked about promising to buy a "Buddy Bench" for certain members of Congress, when she testified before them in June.

 

My colleague Sister Toldjah wrote about Jess' testimony about the 18-year-old Loyola University freshman. Here's a little background she included, along with video from the hearing, during which Democrats like Rep. Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) insulted the Angel mom:

Sheridan Gorman, who was killed in the sanctuary city of Chicago in March, allegedly by 25-year-old Venezuelan illegal Jose Medina, was a constituent of GOP Rep. Mike Lawler (NY-17). Lawler was at the hearing to introduce Jessica Gorman, but as one might expect, he was incensed over Jayapal's remarks. 

To Jess Gorman's surprise, though, she never had to buy a bench for Congress — because someone volunteered to handmake one for the Gormans and other Angel families like them:

"I actually didn't have to buy a bench because Chris Langley, a law enforcement officer from North Carolina, reached out and he lovingly volunteered over 200 hours to handcraft this beautiful bench," she said.

As two people brought the bench on stage, Jess continued, "He volunteered to make this bench for Sheridan and for all of our American Angel families. It's beautiful! I wish she could see it."

"Two hundred hours," she added. "Chris and his wife Felicia are here tonight to present their gift to Sheridan and to our American Angels and to Congress."

"Illegal immigration and these sanctuary policies have stolen so much from us," she said, "from thousands of families in this country. But the one thing you can never ever steal is our hope. Can't steal our hope. This Buddy Bench for Congress, this is our hope."

The Thing That Never Happens Keeps Happening — Now the Proof Is Undeniable

The thing that never happens just happened — again.

Despite the countless assurances by the Democrat Party and its Uniparty enables that cheating in elections never happens, and that there is no reason for Americans to doubt elections, and that the United States has the most secure elections in the history of elections, and that voter IDs are "racist," and that there is definitely no reason to pass the SAVE America, a pesky thing keeps happening.

Non-citizens keep getting caught voting in U.S. elections. The Census Bureau poured through 2020 election data, and it identified at least 24,000 noncitizen voters. Imagine that.

It's almost like the dead giveaway that the American left is lying its asses off is when they scream hysterically about common sense election security measures like those seen in the overwhelming number of nations on earth as if it's an attack on civil rights and common decency and say things like 'how dare you, you racist, xenophobic, nativist, imperialist, warmongering, redneck, Trump-loving, MAGA far-right extremist.'

Yeah. About that. The Daily Caller just uncovered yet another case of a non-citizen voting in U.S. elections.

Mariana Alexandra Dewey, a Peruvian national, was taken into custody Sept. 1 by federal immigration authorities and has since been indicted on charges stemming from allegations that she falsely represented herself as a U.S. citizen in order to register and cast a ballot.

Federal prosecutors say Dewey faces four counts: falsely claiming U.S. citizenship, falsely claiming citizenship in order to vote, fraudulent election conduct, and voting as an alien in a federal election. The Justice Department announced the indictment Thursday and stressed that the charges remain allegations unless proven in court.

According to the Daily Caller, investigators contacted Dewey in April after she changed addresses. She initially told an investigator she was an American citizen before later clarifying that she was actually a lawful permanent resident.

Dewey also acknowledged during the conversation that she had voted in the 2024 general election. Investigators subsequently obtained election records from the Hope Church polling location, including a provisional pollbook and Kansas voter-registration application that contains representations from Dewey that she was a U.S. citizen.

You get that? This is the exact loophole that SAVE America proponents are warning about: Simply averring that one is a U.S. citizen for purposes of voting in an election is nonsense. Almost no nations on earth allow it.

U.S. Attorney Ryan A. Kriegshauser said the Justice Department is actively pursuing cases involving illegal voting.

“The Department of Justice remains committed to protecting election integrity and is actively investigating and prosecuting these cases,” Kriegshauser said. He added that people who are ultimately found by a court to have illegally claimed citizenship and voted or attempted to vote in federal elections could face “serious criminal consequences.”

ICE and Homeland Security Investigations officers participated in Dewey's Sept. 1 arrest. HSI is investigating the federal case, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Larry Fadler is prosecuting it. Dewey is scheduled to make her initial federal court appearance on Sept. 14.

The White House seized on the case as evidence supporting the administration's push for tighter voter-eligibility verification. White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis told the Daily Caller that non-citizens found registering or voting would face arrest and prosecution, adding that “only Americans should be electing American leaders.”

The case also comes amid President Trump's continued push for congressional passage of the SAVE America Act, legislation that would impose documentary proof-of-citizenship requirements for federal voter registration and identification requirements for voting. House Speaker Mike Johnson has said Republicans are considering attempting to advance the proposal through the reconciliation process.

Meanwhile the Undemocratic Party will continue excusing the disenfranchisement of legal U.S. voters with illegal votes by making intellectually dishonest excuses for a broken election system.

This isn't a Democrat or Republican thing. It's an American thing. Secure our elections or our government will eventually stop being considered legitimate.

The U.S. government only exists by the consent of the governed. Elections are how we know the majority gives its consent. 

When elections are broken, the entire system is broken. Such illegal voting cases are piling up and are adding to Americans' frustration. 

Congress needs to stop insulting our intelligence and pass the SAVE America Act already.

 

How JD Vance Responded to This Heckler at the GOP Midterm Convention Was Hilarious

It was the vice president’s time to shine and, no doubt, part of a potential succession plan, as the shadow primary for the 2028 election has already begun. JD Vance delivered the keynote on the second and final day of the Republican Party’s midterm convention in Dallas, Texas. The address, about 45 minutes long, contained some serious haymakers aimed at some of the Democrats’ top candidates in this 2026 cycle, specifically James Talarico, the Democrat running in the U.S. Senate race against Republican Ken Paxton, and Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan.

There was a heckler waving a Mexican flag, to which Vance said, "If you love Mexico so much, get your ass over there, I'll buy you the plane ticket.”

The focus for Vance was defending the economic gains made by the Trump administration, worker protections, and now the defense of American families, which has come under attack by leftists. The vice president also stressed party unity heading into the final stretches of this cycle, noting that the choice isn't hard if you're sane.  It was a dripping red meat address, much like the president’s Wednesday night, but it also showcased one thing: his ability to shine when the moment calls for it.

I Can Hear You: The Iconic Moment From President Bush That Gave Us What We Needed After 9/11

Editor’s Note: This is an older TH post, revised for the 25^th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Twenty-five years ago, al-Qaeda brought its war with America right to our doorstep. Hijackers took over four airliners to execute this heinous crime. At 8:46 AM, American Airlines Flight 11 hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center. American Airlines Flight 175 struck the South Tower at 9:03 AM. Both airliners were Boeing 747s, fully fueled, and crashed and burned for roughly an hour. The South Tower fell first at 9:59 AM. The North Tower followed soon afterward at 10:28 AM

Elsewhere, American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon. United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers attempted to retake control of the aircraft. The intended target was the White House. Three thousand Americans would lose their lives, as the nation came to grips with the fact that radical Islamic terrorism had brought the war home.

In the rubble of what was the World Trade Center, then-President George W. Bush addressed firefighters, rescue workers, and other first responders who were sifting through the wreckage, looking for survivors, and recovering bodies.  On a bullhorn, President Bush, standing with now-retired firefighter Bob Beckwith, was delivering remarks, thanking them for their work and speaking about how the nation was standing behind “the good people of New York City, and New Jersey, and Connecticut, as we mourn the loss of thousands of our citizens.”

Not everyone could hear him.

“George, we can’t hear you!” shouted former NYPD firefighter Rocco Chierichella and others in the audience.

“I can hear you,” replied President Bush. “The rest of the world hears you! And the people – and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon."

 It delivered a shot in the arm to a shell-shocked nation, with a president who said exactly what we wanted to hear. Besides thanking our first responders and praying for the families of the victims, the message was clear: we will grieve, we will rebuild, we will take on terrorism, and we will not be cowered by radical zealots. We will come together as a nation — and we did. It showed we had a leader in the Oval Office, an executive who will do everything he can to keep us safe. The controversy of the 2000 election stopped being mentioned. It was America united at home and abroad. This nation needed it at a time of catastrophic loss.

We still mourn the victims and those first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice in trying to save lives. I just can’t believe it’s been 25 years. 

We will never forget.

'Common sense always wins': Abbott vows to 'demolish Democrats' at GOP Midterm Convention

Texas Governor Greg Abbott blasted Democrat policy during his speech at the first-ever Republican Midterm Convention.

During day two of the historic-event in Dallas, Texas, Abbott (R-Texas) asserted that the upcoming midterm elections were a choice “between common sense and crazy.”

“Democrats defy common sense,” he said.

He highlighted laws he signed during his governorship, including banning Sharia law in the Lone Star State, banning sanctuary cities, and deeming income tax unconstitutional in the state. Comparing these achievements with blue policy, he claimed that Democrats on the ballot in Texas voted to defund the police, voted against laws meant to ensure election integrity and voted for an income tax to be implemented in Texas.

“Common sense always wins,” Abbott said. “Together we are going to demolish Democrats. We are going to keep Texas red,” adding that they would help President Donald Trump keep America great.

The GOP convention aims to bolster Republican support ahead of the midterms, with a number of Republicans facing tight races.

Texas faces a prominent race for Senator John Cornyn’s (R-Texas) seat, who lost the Republican nomination to Attorney General Ken Paxton in the primary run-off election. Paxton is set to face State Representative James Talarico (D-Texas) in the November general election.

No memorial could be more fitting than policies that protect American lives and fortify our resolve.

“Every day you have a choice. Make it count,” Manning says — a blunt, patriotic instruction that should hang in offices from Main Street to Washington. Let her survival and her refusal to be defined by victimhood be a clarion call: Americans choose to remember, to rebuild, and to defend the freedoms that make such resilience possible.

 

Juror Chaos Derails High-Profile Murder Trial, Leaving Families in Limbo

A high-profile trial in Massachusetts ended in a mistrial earlier this month after jurors failed to reach a unanimous verdict in the case of Lindsay Clancy, who was charged with murder in the deaths of her three young children. The judge declared the panel deadlocked after days of intense testimony and emotional courtroom moments, leaving a nation watching and many asking whether justice was done.

In the chaotic aftermath, several jurors have spoken publicly for the first time, describing a jury room torn apart by one lone holdout whose behavior they say was out of step with the rest of the panel. Three jurors — including the foreperson — told reporters that they believed the evidence supported a not guilty by reason of insanity verdict, but that one juror repeatedly resisted and stalled deliberations, triggering a rare and bitter public airing of what should have been private deliberations.

That legal fight — and the judge’s decision to send jurors home — leaves the process in limbo and the victim’s family without the closure they deserve, while the public is left to wonder whether our courtroom rules are equipped to handle such emotionally explosive trials.

Conservatives should be blunt about what this episode reveals: a broken mix of performative courtroom theater, an overreliance on emotional narratives, and a legal system that sometimes privileges process over protection for the innocent. The nation can sympathize with mental health struggles, but sympathy cannot become a loophole that prevents clear accountability or that leaves the families of murdered children without resolution.

If our justice system is to retain the public’s confidence, judges must ensure juries follow the law and that juror misconduct is investigated thoroughly and transparently when alleged. Americans who value law and order owe it to grieving families to demand reforms: better juror vetting, clearer guidance on reasonable doubt, and swifter remedies when a juror’s conduct appears to subvert the process — because protecting victims and the rule of law should never be a partisan afterthought.

China Buys 1 Million Tons of US Soybeans Ahead of Xi Visit, Sources Say

China has bought around 1 million metric tons of U.S. soybeans this ‌week, four traders told Reuters, as the world's top oilseed buyer ​steps up purchases ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Washington later this month.

 

The purchases take China's total U.S. ⁠soybean buying to nearly half of the 25 million tons the White ​House said Beijing had committed to annually through 2028.

While China's purchases of U.S. ⁠soybeans could help bolster trade and diplomatic ties with Washington, the buying also coincides with tightening global oilseed supplies amid dwindling inventories in top exporter Brazil.

"There have been more purchases made ‌by Sinograin in the past few days," said one Asia-based trader. "They ​have been buying before Xi's ‌visit to U.S."

State buyers Sinograin and COFCO did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.

The U.S. ‌Department of Agriculture on Wednesday reported 340,000 tons of U.S. soybean sales to China and another 100,000 tons to unknown destinations.

China still has a ⁠10% additional tariff on all U.S. ‌goods, including agricultural products after ⁠a tit-for-tat tariff war last year. A cut to the tariff on soybeans could draw ⁠private Chinese crushers ⁠back to U.S. supplies after tariffs largely shut them out of the market.

After a meeting between the ‌two countries' leaders in May, Washington said China had agreed to buy $17 billion worth of non-soy U.S. agricultural goods annually through 2028, while maintaining its commitment to purchase ‌25 million ​metric tons of U.S. soybeans ‌each year over the same period.

In late July, U.S. President Donald Trump said Xi would visit Washington on September 24. China has ​not confirmed the visit date or the volume of any planned purchases of U.S. soybeans or other agricultural goods.

 

NYPD Commissioner Strikes Back at Mamdani During 9/11 Event in Moment We've Been Waiting For

Whenever I see NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch 

 

at an event alongside New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, I always get the distinct impression that she's grinning and bearing it, as though she'd rather be anywhere else than near the man who has willfully and deliberately made such a mockery of the suffering his city went through during and after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

That certainly seemed to be the case last Friday when Mamdani signed two 9/11-related executive orders at City Hall, and then promptly asked Tisch, who is Jewish, to pass the ceremonial pen on to his chief legal counsel, Ramzi Kassem. 

The attorney, as RedState previously reported, "spent years representing detainees at Guantánamo Bay" - including Saudi al-Qaeda member Ahmed al-Darbi, who is the brother-in-law of one of the 9/11 terrorists, Khalid al-Mihdhar.

For those who missed the moment, watch:

The New York Post noted in the aftermath of the executive order signings that "Tisch awkwardly handed it to Mamdani’s chief counsel, Ramzi Kassem, who just snuck into the press conference, before she hurried out of the Blue Room — the first official to exit the press conference."

And who could blame her after such a repugnant display from the same mayor who has insisted on attending official remembrance ceremonies on Friday, the 25th anniversary of the attacks, despite pleas from some family members to stay away?

On Wednesday, however, Tisch had the opportunity to give a speech at an NYPD 9/11 memorial event and, with Mamdani in attendance - sitting nearby - she made the following statement:

Preserving that history also means preserving its moral clarity. The men who attacked this city were terrorists. The men and women who ran into the towers to save innocent lives were heroes. 25 years cannot be allowed to blur that distinction and shame on those who do.

She didn't have to say Mamdani's name, nor Kassem's, to conclude that she had them in mind when she firmly stated those words.

Just to emphasize the importance of her taking a stand on this issue, let's take a look back at what Kassem had to say about the 9/11 terrorists just three days after the attacks:

"The resentment these terrorists felt towards the United States was rooted in political realities shaped by our country's policies. Our government has supported dictatorial and repressive regimes across the Middle East and elsewhere for years, in total disregard of the aspirations and better interests of the indigenous populations of those regions. This oppressive political reality is lived by millions, and only an infinitesimal few decide to go to the horrible extremes we had the misfortune of witnessing last week. It is to these populations' credit that they didn't dehumanize us the way we have dehumanized them. Thousands of Palestinians across the West Bank lit candles, grieving in solidarity with Americans, despite the fact that they suffer on daily basis from violence not unlike what we have had to endure, because our government arms the government that occupies their land."

At the time Mamdani appointed Kassem to be chief legal counsel, he proclaimed that "I will turn to Ramzi for his remarkable experience and his commitment to defending those too often abandoned by our legal system," which apparently includes admitted terrorist co-conspirators and terrorist group sympathizers.

Mamdani has also consistently tried to portray Muslims as the real victims of the 9/11 attacks. Case in point: the speech he gave in 2025 as a mayoral nominee about "Islamophobia" after 9/11 and how his purported "auntie" was supposedly too afraid to take the subway "because she did not feel safe in her hijab."

 

Not surprisingly, his story fell apart quickly after scrutiny, with Mamdani having to clarify that the alleged woman in question wasn't actually his aunt. Incredibly but not surprisingly, he accused those who caught him in the lie of... you guessed it, Islamophobia.

Mamdani has also infamously been anti-police to the extent he repeatedly called for defunding the NYPD... until he began his run for mayor.

I cannot imagine what it must feel like to be a New Yorker who doesn't support him but who has to endure his empty platitudes, moral preening, and insulting twists on the facts about American history and Islamic terrorism -- especially on a somber week like this one.

My hat is off to Commissioner Tisch for finally "going there" - in her own way - in defense of her city and its heroes, all while Mamdani sat stone-faced just a few feet away.  If he's ultimately going to be just a one-term mayor, we need more of this speaking out, not less. Enough is enough.
