Apparently, liberals only believe athletes—basketball players in particular—should speak their minds when they're parroting the approved progressive script. Over the weekend, Kyle Kuzma,
an NBA champ with the 2020 Los Angeles Lakers, quote-tweeted New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s (D) performative video branding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “war criminal.” He then promptly windmill dunked on the half-pint-sized Commie for "cosplaying" as somebody in a position of authority for demanding the PM's arrest. "People cosplaying as things they don’t have the authority, the talent, or the track record to actually be. Just for content," he said. "A mayor playing president." Kuzma then listed off several other examples of people in this digital age pretending to be things they are not. "We're raising a generation that (learns) the reward isn’t in doing the thing, it’s in looking like you did the thing. The clip is the career. The pose is the product. The soundbite is the substitute for a life’s work," he concluded. "Don't fall for distractions." for being the vile, terror-adjacent, Communist that he clearly is. No, he's calling this guy out as a clown who thinks he's far more important in his own mind. And his supporters for lacking the intelligence not to be distracted by the shiny, candy-like object. And man, did they dislike the assertion. Within hours, the same crowd that once treated “shut up and dribble” as a right-wing heresy was gleefully throwing the phrase—and far worse—right back at Kuzma. "You cosplaying as an intellectual. I would tell you to shut up and dribble, but we know you can barely do that," one person with their little "Free Palestine" bio fired back. "And you're cosplaying as a basketball player," another, with he/him pronouns, a picture to show they were cosplaying as a woman, and a mention of being a "lifer" over a South Korean girl group in their profile, said. To his credit, Kuzma responded to a bunch of the attacks thrown his way, even telling someone who disliked the current administration that they could "move to a different country." It's funny when you realize Kuzma won an NBA championship ring alongside his teammate LeBron James,
who actually served as the impetus for the entire "shut up and dribble" mantra. You know, the guy who called President Trump a “bum,” repeatedly slammed him over race and politics, backed Black Lives Matter, and sided with the Chinese Communist Party by blasting Daryl Morey as “misinformed” for supporting Hong Kong protesters while never once mentioning the Uyghur concentration camps in China that the NBA was helping to fund. Yeah, LeBum. We didn't forget about that. Let's see how much heat Kuzma gets for daring to speak out on Mamdani, the mayor of the city that just won the NBA championship. LeBron is allowed to spout off at the mouth whenever he feels like it. Enes Kanter Freedom claims he was blackballed by the league for speaking his thoughts. Kuzma, who now plays with the Milwaukee Bucks, is no James when it comes to talent. But being a little more productive, versatile, and successful overall than Kanter and most of the league means he can't exactly be ignored on the topic. |
