CENTCOM Chief Urged Iran Strike Halt

CENTCOM Chief Urged Halt to Strikes

The top U.S. military commander in the Middle East recommended ending the bombing campaign around the Strait of Hormuz after concluding it reached the limits of its effectiveness, a recommendation that helped shape President Donald Trump's decision to pause strikes against Iran, Axios reported Sunday.

Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command, advised Pentagon leaders, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the White House last week that two weeks of sustained airstrikes had weakened Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping through the strategic waterway, multiple sources familiar with the discussions said.

His assessment, combined with advice from other senior military officials, influenced Trump's decision Friday to suspend strikes targeting Iranian positions along Iran's southern coast and around the Strait of Hormuz.

The move marked the first pause in nearly two weeks of continuous military operations and reflected growing recognition among military commanders and civilian advisers that additional airstrikes would produce diminishing returns without a broader escalation of the conflict.

Trump made the decision following a meeting Friday with senior national security advisers and military officials, who presented updated operational plans for the day's strikes.

According to sources familiar with the deliberations, the president had been leaning toward expanding combat operations earlier in the week, but began reconsidering that approach Thursday evening before formally deciding to halt the strikes.

Cooper told administration officials that most of the military's designated targets in the Strait of Hormuz region had already been struck, leaving relatively few remaining objectives.

According to the sources, the admiral said the U.S. could return to major combat operations to destroy roughly 20% of targets originally identified during Operation Epic Fury that were not attacked during the initial campaign.

However, absent a decision to significantly escalate military operations, Cooper argued there was little value in continuing the limited bombing campaign that had been underway.

Capt. Tim Hawkins, a CENTCOM spokesman, declined to comment on Cooper's recommendations.

The pause in strikes also came as military leaders warned about broader operational challenges.

According to the sources, Air Force Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, privately cautioned War Secretary Pete Hegseth and Trump that dwindling supplies of air-defense interceptors could reduce the military's ability to defend U.S. forces and regional allies if the conflict intensified.

A spokesman for the chairman declined to comment on "confidential military advice the chairman provides the president."

While military operations have slowed, diplomatic efforts continue, Axios reported.

Iran and Oman remain engaged in negotiations aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz under an arrangement intended to ensure that commercial vessels can transit the shipping lane without coming under attack.

CENTCOM chief advised halt of Iran strikes due to exhausted targets: Report

It remains unclear whether any agreement negotiated between Tehran and Muscat would satisfy the Trump administration. If negotiations fail or Washington rejects the proposed terms, the fighting could resume.

For now, officials described the military situation as a "quiet for quiet" arrangement, with both sides refraining from launching new attacks while diplomatic contacts continue.

Meanwhile, the U.S. and the U.K. are continuing discussions on convening an international conference later this week to establish a multinational coalition focused on protecting commercial shipping and clearing naval mines from the Strait of Hormuz.

Officials have not announced a date for the meeting.

DSA Co-Chair Confirms Its Extreme Agenda in Stunning Admission on Live TV

At this point, I'm beginning to think some on the left are working very hard on trying to lose the midterms.

The last thing that they should be doing is pitching radical candidates and platforms that the majority of America would reject.

Yet that's exactly what they are doing right now.

In response to the wins of socialists in Democratic primaries, most of the Democrats have used the term "big tent." They don't seem to give a darn about what they've opened the door to and let into that "big tent."

Hilarious: AOC's Reply on Abolishing the Senate Is a Train Wreck (Plus Some Wild Code-Switching)

But in case anyone was at all confused about what's being talked about here, the Democratic Socialists of America National Co-Chair Megan Romer

DSA leader admits group wants to abolish prisons, borders and lots more in kooky TV true-or-false

made it clear in response to a list of questions from Fox News' Shannon Bream. Bream went through the list, asking for a "true/false" response from Romer.

FOX One

"Abolish the Senate?" she asked. "True," Romer replied.

"Replace the presidency and Supreme Court as we now know them," Bream queried. "Yep," Romer said.

"Abolish ICE?" Bream inquired. Romer was emphatic, "Absolutely!"

"Abolish borders and give amnesty to anyone in the U.S. illegally?" Bream asked. "As a long-term plan, yep," Romer replied.

"Defund the Pentagon?" Bream said. "Absolutely!" Romer replied, with a laugh, as though to question how Bream could even ask that.

Bream asked, "Abolish prisons, at least in large part?" Romer said, as part of the "long-term program."

"Government or public ownership of most large corporations?" Bream asked. "Yeah, absolutely," Romer answered.

Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (LA-04) spoke for many Americans with a simple response: This is the contrast between "common sense" and what Democrats are now embracing, which is "CRAZY."

Others also called it out plainly on X.

In a word, yes.

The only question is whether we will stand against it. Democrats are enabling this. Every Republican running should be putting this in an ad, explaining what Democrats have been countenancing, exactly as Johnson phrased it: common sense vs. crazy. People may have legitimate policy differences on things, but Americans will reject this — if they know this is on the table.

NBA Champ Slams Mamdani and the Left Suddenly Wants Basketball Players to Shut Up and Dribble

Apparently, liberals only believe athletes—basketball players in particular—should speak their minds when they're parroting the approved progressive script.

Over the weekend, Kyle Kuzma,

Lakers' Kyle Kuzma on NBA Restart Talks: 'Some of Us Want to Hoop and Compete'

an NBA champ with the 2020 Los Angeles Lakers, quote-tweeted New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s (D) performative video branding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “war criminal.”

He then promptly windmill dunked on the half-pint-sized Commie for "cosplaying" as somebody in a position of authority for demanding the PM's arrest.

"People cosplaying as things they don’t have the authority, the talent, or the track record to actually be. Just for content," he said. "A mayor playing president."

Kuzma then listed off several other examples of people in this digital age pretending to be things they are not.

"We're raising a generation that (learns) the reward isn’t in doing the thing, it’s in looking like you did the thing. The clip is the career. The pose is the product. The soundbite is the substitute for a life’s work," he concluded. "Don't fall for distractions."

What makes this pretty interesting is the fact that he's not calling out Mamdani

What Mamdani's Knicks Speech Teaches Us About Civic Engagement – Common Edge

for being the vile, terror-adjacent, Communist that he clearly is. No, he's calling this guy out as a clown who thinks he's far more important in his own mind. And his supporters for lacking the intelligence not to be distracted by the shiny, candy-like object.

And man, did they dislike the assertion.

Within hours, the same crowd that once treated “shut up and dribble” as a right-wing heresy was gleefully throwing the phrase—and far worse—right back at Kuzma.

"You cosplaying as an intellectual. I would tell you to shut up and dribble, but we know you can barely do that," one person with their little "Free Palestine" bio fired back.

"And you're cosplaying as a basketball player," another, with he/him pronouns, a picture to show they were cosplaying as a woman, and a mention of being a "lifer" over a South Korean girl group in their profile, said.

To his credit, Kuzma responded to a bunch of the attacks thrown his way, even telling someone who disliked the current administration that they could "move to a different country."

It's funny when you realize Kuzma won an NBA championship ring alongside his teammate LeBron James,

LeBron James says that after mulling retirement he's decided to play for the Philadelphia 76ers | CNN

who actually served as the impetus for the entire "shut up and dribble" mantra.

You know, the guy who called President Trump a “bum,” repeatedly slammed him over race and politics, backed Black Lives Matter, and sided with the Chinese Communist Party by blasting Daryl Morey as “misinformed” for supporting Hong Kong protesters while never once mentioning the Uyghur concentration camps in China that the NBA was helping to fund.

Yeah, LeBum. We didn't forget about that.

Let's see how much heat Kuzma gets for daring to speak out on Mamdani, the mayor of the city that just won the NBA championship. LeBron is allowed to spout off at the mouth whenever he feels like it. Enes Kanter Freedom claims he was blackballed by the league for speaking his thoughts.

Kuzma, who now plays with the Milwaukee Bucks, is no James when it comes to talent. But being a little more productive, versatile, and successful overall than Kanter and most of the league means he can't exactly be ignored on the topic.

It’s Going to Be JD and Kamala, So Calm Down

It’s Going to Be JD and Kamala, So Calm Down

Everybody who wants to gobble popcorn while watching exciting POTUS primary races in 2028 is going to be disappointed, at least in terms of the final outcome. We know how this story ends, but what leads up to it may be hilarious, particularly on the Democrat side. Every weirdo, loser, and mutation in their party intends to try to get the nod, knowing that the fix is already in; it’s just going to be a chance for folks like Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) and Pete Buttigieg to try to raise their profiles or maybe get picked to be VP. Neither of those two will. But right now, it’s obvious who is going to go head-to-head against each other in the general election. You can deny it, you can argue it, you can cope all you want, but barring some unforeseen turn of events, we know how this is going to play out.

It’s going to be JD versus Kamala, and that’s just the way it is.

Well, that’s not technically correct. On the Republican side, the guy who’s going to be nominated is the guy who Trump says is going to be nominated, and right now that’s Vice President JD Vance. People are fantasizing that Secretary of State Marco Rubio

Anna Moneymaker/Getty Images

is going to jump in and fight the veep for the top of the ticket, but that’s crazy talk. And the least crazy guy involved is Marco Rubio himself, who has made a magnificent and fantastic 180° turnaround since his unfortunate dalliance with amnesty under the influence of a bunch of Bushie loser Senate colleagues a decade ago that nearly sank his political future. He knows that Donald Trump is going to pick the next nominee, and Donald Trump is already sending up smoke signals that it's going to be JD. Marco is young. He has time. And he has no political death wish. He has stepped on the Donald Trump land mine before, and he does not want to be blown to little bits. But you can be sure that if JD stumbles, Marco Rubio will be right there to pick up the ball and run it in for the big win.

Will JD Vance stumble? He's getting a lot of heat from some people on the Republican side, particularly those who think that he is insufficiently committed to destroying our enemies and protecting Israel. It’s annoying. Never-Trump has-been Brett Stephens, whose self-seriousness is inversely proportional to how seriously he should be taken, said, “Vance is MAGA at its absolute worst. Able to still sound reasonable while defending the indefensible.” Sounds like a rave review. Others cited his role in the Senate to essentially blame him for Capitol Hill dysfunction. Come on. Vance got grief for referring to the organized haters as an op; the organized haters of the op were outraged he called their transparent op an op.

JD terrifies those with the fantasy of returning to the good old days of submissive GOP-managed decline; they know he’ll carry the Trump message forward – which is a selling point. JD certainly doesn’t have the same view of war as a lot of traditional Republicans do, no doubt, in part, because, unlike most of them, he actually went and fought in one. He has seen firsthand the failure of America’s foreign policy establishment, and if he’s a little bit gun-shy about gunboat diplomacy, he’s got good reason to be. After all, his homeland in Appalachia has traditionally been one of America’s premier fields for growing crops of cannon fodder. The consequences of the hawks’ prerogatives fall on people like JD Vance. Though a fellow son of that region and a veteran, I tend to be a little more on the “Bomb the bastards back into the Stone Age” side. Still, JD has earned his right to be skeptical about the overextension of American military power.

Then there’s Israel, and while many of the people who are critical of him are very much aligned with me—my objection to Israel is that we’re not giving the Jewish state enough money and they’re not killing enough terrorists—they are misguided. JD Vance is not a groyper. If you actually listen to what he says instead of watching carefully curated podcast clips, you’ll see that what he’s saying is true. The Venn diagram representing the interests of the United States and Israel is not a circle. Israel has its interests, and we have ours, and there’s nothing wrong with saying that. It’s obvious, and it’s important that we acknowledge this reality. Israel has a terrible image problem in the United States, partially because many Americans are stupid and weak, and because Democrats are cowardly and weak. The proper answer to terrorists is to kill them all and lay waste to their homes. That’s aesthetically displeasing to many people. Israel has chosen being aesthetically displeasing to being genocided out of existence by semi-human seventh-century barbarians, and a lot of fools hold that against it.

JD Vance does not hold that against Israel. He simply points out, correctly, that sometimes what Israel needs to do conflicts with what the United States needs to do, and a president of the United States should do what the United States needs to do. As for Iran, if you think he somehow believed that the Iranians were going to completely change who they are and become nice guys, I really can’t help you. This guy is a lawyer. He knows a little something about negotiating. And when you’re negotiating, you rarely describe your obnoxious opponent in the harshest possible terms. You talk nice about them. That’s how negotiations work.

Now, he may not choose to run for president in 2028. He’s got a very young family, including a newborn. It’s not clear his wife loves being in the limelight. She’s an incredibly smart woman; spend five minutes with her, and you’ll see. JD is even younger than Rubio. He’s got time. The bottom line is he may choose not to run. If he does choose to run, right now he’s got Trump’s endorsement, which means he’s the nominee. Certainly, he could lose Trump’s endorsement—Trump is notorious for spectacular breakups with former allies—but if you’ve got chips, put them down on JD.

Maybe there will be competition. There are rumblings about Ted Cruz jumping in, but I don’t think Ted Cruz is going to do that because Ted Cruz is smart

Cruz breaks with Trump on key endorsements as 2028 looms

and he doesn’t want to be humiliated by being utterly destroyed in the primary. There will probably be some dorky Never Trump geebos going for it, like Mike Pence, which would be hilarious. The Ned Flanders of American politics would be humiliated, but for Pence, you get the vibe that that might be a plus for him.

Look, the GOP nominee in 2028 is going to be JD Vance about 80 percent of the time, so everybody needs to get their feelz under control and get ready to back him. Maybe he’s not 100 percent with you, but the alternative is 0 percent with you. Get over your panty twist, people.

And the Democrat nominee is going to be Kamala Harris. That’s just the way it’s going to be, because the Democrat Party’s biggest constituency is not failson and disappointment daughter, Democrat Socialists, but black women. Kamala is a black woman; ergo, she’s going to get nominated. You’re not going to get the Democrats to nominate someone who’s not a black woman. We’re seeing what happens when you do that in Texas. That blasphemous imp James Talarico is just not winning over black voters after beating Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX-30)

One of the benefits of Kamala is that she’s also DSA-friendly; she’s a communist and was recently sucking up to the Hamas wing. The socialists will swallow hard and take her. A bunch of others will run, and they’ll lose. There’s some talk about AOC, but she’s going to take noted burger chef Chuck Schumer’s Senate seat. AOC’s sell-by date is fast approaching anyway. Believe it or not, she’s not left enough for the socialists, and here’s a hard truth some people don’t want to hear: she’s getting hefty. Part of the attraction of AOC was that she was a cute young woman. Remember, they literally auditioned her for the job, and key to that was that she was attractive. Between losing her hotness and the fact that every time she opens her mouth, she says something stupid—like how the Senate was constituted to enshrine Jim Crow about a century before Jim Crow—this clownette peaks at junior senator from the Empire State.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s out there, but how are you going to explain to the black women of the Democrat Party that they need to move aside for a guy so white that Sheldon Whitehouse is recruiting him for his beach club? California’s Patrick Bateman has destroyed the Golden State, and that’s a problem too. Kamala, having done nothing in her entire career except satisfy Willie Brown, ironically leaves her better positioned than the current California governor, who has to explain high-speed rail to nowhere, endless taxes, and sidewalks piled high with hobo dung.

The others aren’t going anywhere either. Nobody wants JB Pritzker, the governor of failed state Illinois—why would anyone want an obese version of Gavin Newsom? Pete Buttigieg is currently polling at 0 percent among black Democratic primary voters. Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17) is Ro Khanna. And there are a bunch of other little pipsqueaks out there who are equally hopeless, but might go for it to pump up their profiles. No, it’s going to be Kamala because it can only be Kamala.

So, that’s it. Now, we may have some fun watching the upstarts in the primary make fools of themselves. I’d love to see Trump’s tweets should Mike Pence decide to try to leverage his leadership of the GOP’s ED caucus into the nomination. And I yearn to see the Democrats hamstring themselves by going left, left, left, left in the primary only for Kamala to have to explain in the general why she has changed her mind from her primary campaign position that we should reopen the border and allow anyone from the Third World into America to get gender-affirming care on the taxpayers’ dime.

Oh, and who’s going to win the fight between JD and Kamala? That’s another column entirely, but for reasons I’ve explained before, I like our odds.

Former CBS News Reporter: There Might Be Proof Showing Bidens Were Blackmailed by China

Former CBS News investigative reporter Catherine Herridge,

who also worked with Fox News, reviewed a batch of documents declassified by the Trump administration concerning Chinese election interference. President Trump spoke extensively about the vulnerabilities of our election system in a primetime address on July 16.

The president outlined how Beijing has compromised the voter data of around 220 million Americans, paid U.S. reporters to spread anti-Trump propaganda, and cited numerous intelligence officials who kept the extent of the Chinese election meddling operation from him. Herridge appeared on NewsNation’s Katie Pavlich Tonight on July 25 to provide an update on this story, revealing that she might have stumbled upon proof that the Bidens were blackmailed by the Chinese. All of the documents relate to information that would’ve been included in Joe Biden’s daily briefing:

“What we saw in the release of the records, which I'm afraid I think in the media or legacy media there was kind of a willful blindness. They didn't want to look at the records. All you had to do was spend a couple of hours. I found these records which are talking about blackmail by China. It was for President Biden's daily brief. I can conclude, I think, that it was probably about targeting his family”

Remember when Tony Bobulinski, a former business associate of Hunter Biden, alluded to the possibility during the 2020 election? He turned over all documents related to this investigation, by the way; the FBI had them for years.

Fla.: Illegal alien charged after allegedly running over and killing an 82-year-old woman in grocery store parking lot

A Venezuelan man is being charged after allegedly killing an 82-year-old woman by backing over her with an SUV outside of a grocery store in Panama City Beach, Florida.

According to Fox News, Carlos Suarez-Contreras, 26 years old,

struck Deborah Murphy with a Toyota 4Runner while she was walking in the crosswalk in a Publix parking lot. Suarez-Contreras was reportedly in the United States illegally at the time of the incident on May 17th, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

After she fell to the ground, the vehicle continued backing up, the report read.

Murphy was then taken to a nearby hospital where she died from her injuries, according to Fox News.

Police records showed that Luis Sanabria, 29 years old, who had an expired visa, was in the passenger seat of the vehicle when the SUV struck Murphy.

Sanabria allegedly confirmed that Suarez-Contreras “was operating the vehicle at the time of the crash,” he told law enforcement at the scene in May.

The two Venezuelan nationals were issued U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainers and booked into the Bay County Sheriff’s Office Jail following the incident, according to court records.

Meanwhile, Suarez-Contreras pleaded not guilty to the charge of driving with a canceled Georgia license and causing a death.

“We’re determined to find justice and see Suarez-Contreras held accountable for his reckless actions,” Murphy’s daughters, Beth Schulz and Amy Edge, told Fox News. “She touched so many lives as an amazing friend, teacher, mother and grandmother.”

Suarez-Contreras is scheduled to be arraigned on August 17th at the Bay County Courthouse in Panama City Florida, Fox News reported.

NJ Admits 6,600 Noncitizens Added to Voter Rolls After MVC Glitch

New Jersey quietly admitted that roughly 6,600 people who said they were not U.S. citizens were added to the state’s voter rolls because of a Motor Vehicle Commission software error. That is not a minor clerical hiccup. It is a failure of a system we are told to trust with our elections. If you care about free and fair votes, you should be paying attention.

What New Jersey says happened

Governor Mikie Sherrill called it “a serious software error” in the Motor Vehicle System and said the problem affected registrations captured between June 2023 and June 2024. The governor’s office says the state found about 6,600 registrations tied to people who identified as noncitizens and that fewer than 400 of those people later cast ballots. The administration ordered removals, launched an independent review, and said it would replace the vendor running the system.

Why this matters for election integrity

Automatic voter registration at the MVC can be a good thing when it works. When it doesn’t, it creates a real risk: even a few hundred disputed ballots could matter in a tight race. Election‑integrity advocates rightly warned for years that data systems and verification steps must be airtight. Now we have a public example of what can go wrong — and of how slow and messy the fixes can be.

Federal probe, vendor denials, and the blame game

The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, led by Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, has opened an inquiry and demanded records. Homeland Security under Secretary Markwayne Mullin has its own larger flags from cross‑state checks. Meanwhile the vendor IDEMIA says its software behaved as designed and insists the state is responsible for verification. In plain English: everyone points fingers and the public ends up holding the bill for shoddy systems and secrecy.

Fixes we should demand now

Start with an independent technical audit that is public and granular — not another press release with talking points. Replace or fix vendors that can’t prove their code and logs. Strengthen proof‑of‑citizenship checks at registration and consider measures like the SAVE America Act to tighten federal standards for citizen verification. And if any ballots were knowingly cast by ineligible voters, there should be clear legal follow‑through. Trust in elections isn’t automatic; it’s earned, and right now New Jersey owes voters a lot more than an apology.

Salamanca Pauses Creepy Humanoid Robot School Pilot After Outcry

Schools are supposed to teach math, reading, and how to be a decent citizen — not to audition for a sci‑fi movie. Yet a rural New York district quietly agreed to pilot a lifelike humanoid robot and an AI tutor in its high school classrooms this fall. Parents, teachers, and tribal leaders rightly pushed back, and the district has now paused the program. This debate is exactly the kind we need: clear answers before creepy technology becomes routine in our children’s schools.

What the district proposed — and why people freaked out

The Salamanca City Central School District announced a pilot using Realbotix’s Optio AI tutor and a seated M‑Series humanoid robot — nicknamed “Sally” in coverage — to support STEM and AI classes. Realbotix said the tools would “complement, not replace, teachers” and that the M‑Series had been trained on the district curriculum. Reported costs for the pilot were roughly $57,000–$58,000 for the robot and deployment. That’s a lot of money to spend on something that looks like it should have a role in an adult‑only film festival.

Privacy, pedagogy and painful optics

Teachers and parents raised three simple, practical questions: Will the robot record students? Who owns or gets access to the data? And who is accountable when something goes wrong? Lacey Pihlblad, president of the Salamanca Teachers’ Association, put it plainly: “We’re very concerned about the security of the software… whether or not the data will be stored, how it will be gathered, are the recording capabilities.” The New York State Education Department’s assistant commissioner JP O’Hare warned that technology “should not replace the human judgment or accountability essential to a safe and effective learning environment.” Those are not partisan talking points; they’re common‑sense safeguards.

Cultural sensitivity matters

There’s also an ugly optics problem. Salamanca sits on the Allegany Territory of the Seneca Nation,

New York Indian Reservation Map Poster [Native American Map Poster / W – Indigenous Peoples Resources

and tribal leaders and community members called the rollout tone‑deaf — especially given the painful history of using outsiders’ experiments on Native communities. Add the fact that Realbotix’s corporate history includes ties to companies known for highly realistic companion and adult‑oriented dolls, and you can see why locals describe the idea as “creepy.” The company says the education unit is separate and that the system is closed, but vague corporate reorganizations and PR reassurances don’t cut it when kids’ privacy and dignity are on the line.

Seneca people - Wikipedia

What should happen next — and what conservatives should demand

The district did the right thing by pausing the pilot while it negotiates “enhanced student data privacy agreements” and engages stakeholders. But a pause is not a permanent fix. Parents and local leaders should insist on four things before any robot ever steps foot in a classroom: (1) full public release of procurement and data‑privacy contracts; (2) independent technical audits proving no offsite recording, facial recognition, or remote access without explicit parental consent; (3) measurable learning outcomes overseen by independent educators, not sales teams; and (4) documented consultation with the Seneca Nation and affected families. This is about parental control, local accountability, and protecting children from untested tech experiments — conservative principles all.

Let’s be clear: innovation can help education, but it needs to be transparent, local, and accountable. If a company wants to train a robot on school curricula and hand it to teenagers, they should be ready to open their code, contracts, and servers to public inspection. Until then, keep the humanoids on stage and out of our classrooms. Kids deserve teachers, not tech demos dressed in silicone.

Allocco to Newsmax: Jewish Dems Feeling Betrayed Over Israel

Patrick Allocco Archives - Page 4 of 4 - New Jersey Globe

Political analyst Patrick Allocco said Jewish Democratic voters are increasingly feeling politically isolated as divisions within the Democratic Party over Israel deepen following a House vote to cut U.S. military spending for Israel.

Speaking on Newsmax TV's "America Right Now," Allocco described the vote on July 15 by more than 100 House Democrats to block billions of dollars in military aid to Israel — an ultimately unsuccessful effort that highlighted the growing divisions in their party on the issue — as part of a broader political shift that has accelerated since Hamas' Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel.

"What we're watching right now is a historical moment unfold," Allocco said.

"Many Jewish Democrats, this has become a story of abandonment, betrayal in some communities, and almost political homelessness."

Allocco said Jewish voters have long formed one of the Democratic Party's most reliable constituencies, tracing that relationship back to President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal during the Great Depression.

He said many Jewish Americans were drawn to Roosevelt's agenda because of its support for urban immigrants, religious pluralism, and organized labor, helping forge a political alliance that endured for generations.

"These are voters who helped build one of the Democratic Party's most enduring coalitions," Allocco said. "It goes back to FDR."

He argued that recent developments represent a dramatic departure from that history, saying some Jewish Democrats increasingly view the party's posture toward Israel as inconsistent with their expectations.

"For the first time you're seeing something that is just completely anathema to them — the abandonment of the party," Allocco said.

He linked the shift to the aftermath of Hamas' Oct. 7 attack on Israel, which killed about 1,200 people and sparked Israel's military campaign in Gaza. The conflict has intensified debate within the Democratic Party, where progressive lawmakers have become increasingly critical of Israel's military operations and U.S. military assistance, citing concerns about civilian casualties and the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Allocco pointed to public opinion research as evidence that Democratic attitudes toward Israel have changed in recent years.

"I think some of the research is showing us, if you look at Pew Research, you can see an incredible transformation over the last few years on Democrats' view of Israel," he said.

The House vote underscored continuing divisions in Congress over U.S. policy toward Israel, an issue that has grown increasingly contentious as the war in Gaza has continued.

The debate has exposed ideological differences within the Democratic caucus, with some lawmakers advocating reductions or conditions on military aid to Israel while others argue continued support remains essential to Israel's security and longstanding U.S. foreign policy.

Allocco said those divisions could have lasting political consequences by reshaping one of the Democratic Party's most dependable voting blocs.
