Trump Admin Begins Building Border Wall in Texas' Big Bend Region

The Trump administration has started building the border wall through a west Texas section of the Big Bend region, marking the first major construction in an area of the U.S.-Mexico border where the administration's plans have met with heavy opposition.

The start of construction marks an important milestone in the administration's $46 billion plan to line the border with walls, barriers, roads and technology as it seeks to make good on a key campaign promise by President Donald Trump to finish the wall. And it comes as Customs and Border Protection says it has doubled the pace at which it is building the wall across the U.S.-Mexico border.

Customs and Border Protection said in a statement to The Associated Press that "border wall panel installation is underway" in a 47-mile stretch of Hudspeth County in west Texas known as Big Bend 1. There are a total of five project areas that make up the roughly 500-mile Big Bend region stretching from an area of Hudspeth County south of El Paso to Lake Amistad.

The agency did not say when the panels had been installed. On a map on the agency's website where it posts updates of wall construction across the entire southern border, a photo showed a crane lifting one of the 30-foot tall steel wall panels into place while construction workers looked on.

The new activity was separate from a border infrastructure project in the nearby Big Bend National Park, where the administration has temporarily suspended construction in an attempt at outreach to opponents.

In the broader Big Bend region of Texas, CBP has run up against concerted opposition from landowners, environmental groups, business owners and ranchers who say the remote region isn't a high traffic area for illegal immigration.

Activists said Friday they would continue opposing the border infrastructure projects in the rest of the Big Bend region, even as the panels were being installed.

Clara Benson, one of the founders of the No Big Bend Wall Coalition which has been fighting against CBP's plans, said in an interview Friday that the organization had been receiving reports of trucks moving supplies into the remote area along the Rio Grande and that contractors had been clearing yards to stage supplies.

But speaking from Washington, D.C. where she and others in the coalition were meeting with lawmakers, she said that the organization and others would continue to fight the wall-building plans across the region.

"We will continue to fight for this land no matter what the outcome is. We will continue fighting to the end," said Benson. "You talk to people in west Texas and they say even if they put it up, we'll fight for them to take it down. So this fight is not over."

The news comes as the administration is speeding forward with a plan to line the entire border with a combination of 30-foot tall steel bollard walls, barriers designed to stop vehicles from crossing the border, new patrol roads, and various technologies to deter and detect migrants or smugglers from crossing the border.

 

Customs and Border Protection said that they are building an average of 12 miles of barriers a week across the 2,000-mile border with Mexico and recently hit a milestone of 200 miles of new barriers built since the second Trump administration took office.

The 12-miles a week average is double the pace that the agency's head, Rodney Scott, cited earlier this year.

The agency has faced opposition from environmental groups, a small town that worries the wall will cause flooding in its area, Native Americans who say the construction is disturbing sacred sites and landowners who say the construction will infringe on their land.

In Texas much of the opposition has centered on the agency's plans for Big Bend National Park, in the state's southwest on the Rio Grande that is a draw for tourists from around the world. But up and down river outside the park, much of the land is owned by private landowners, many of whom have pushed back against the government's efforts.

Earlier this week, landowners, ranchers, and business owners in the Big Bend region along with a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the region's landscape and heritage sued to stop the administration's plans.

Activists and landowners have also shown up at county meetings to push their elected officials not to cooperate with contractors hired by CBP to build the wall, and many landowners have refused to allow government officials or contractors onto their land to survey it.

Team Trump Releases the List CNN Wishes Didn't Exist: A Staggering Tally of Failure and Deception

As our Ward Clark reported Friday, Donald Trump is fed up with the fake news mainstream media, and he took action by announcing that CNN, Politico, and MS NOW are no longer welcome to attend White House Press briefings or Oval Office Q&As. 

The president roasted the outlets on social media, saying they’re less trustworthy than Pinocchio and routinely inject immense bias into their stories. “Media Outlets shouldn’t be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES when they’re covering the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America,” he wrote.

Expect lawsuits and First Amendment arguments and plenty of hyperventilating drama from those outlets; they’re simply not used to facing consequences (except for the occasional legal settlement) for playing fast and loose with the facts. 

As you’d expect, CNN’s feelings are hurt over Trump’s declaration, and they quickly put out a high-minded statement defending their incredibly brave, heroic reporters and pundits:

They laughably describe their reporters as “fair and accurate” in the post:

CNN stands fully behind our White House team and their fair and accurate reporting. We have a right under the U.S. Constitution to do that reporting without hindrance or interference from the government. Should the ban which President Trump threatened go ahead, it would be an illegal assault on that fundamental and constitutionally-protected right.

We all know that’s a load of hooey, and I’m sure for many readers, several recollections of embarrassing CNN failures immediately came to mind. The outlet may have wished they hadn’t poked the bear, however, because Team Trump quickly reacted with a staggering list of their mistakes, deceptions, and outright dereliction of duty.

I admit, even as someone who follows this stuff closely, my jaw fell to the ground. There are so many examples that I’d started to forget some of them:

If I wrote up every one, I’d be at my keyboard for days, but even amidst that epic record of failure, a few incidents stand out as exceptionally egregious. Perhaps the most famous is the 2020 “mostly peaceful" riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin, which followed the shooting of a suspect named Jacob Blake who resisted arrest when police were investigating a domestic call. The conflagration came in August during the summer of the George Floyd riots that rocked the country:

 

The mostly peaceful violence led to an estimated $50 million in damage in Kenosha, and teenager Kyle Rittenhouse shot three people, two of them fatally, in an act that was later determined to be self-defense.

The Summer of Love’s mostly peaceful yet somehow riots led to an estimated $2 billion in damage and 31 deaths when all was said and done.

There are so many other false narratives the network pushed that it’s hard to process, but the other falsehoods that jump out at me are the 2019 Nick Sandman/Covington Catholic kids BS white supremacy allegations, the laughable Jussie Smollett fake claim of assault by racist MAGA dudes (also in 2019), which CNN bought hook, line, and sinker, and more recently, the network’s endless efforts to convince us that Joe Biden was “sharp as a tack” despite mounds of evidence proving otherwise. Even worse, anchor Jake Tapper, a top media leader of the Great American Cover-Up, then did an about-face by writing a book that pretended he was part of the solution. Absolutely no shame in that guy.

Don’t get me started on their COVID coverage, where they endlessly cheered on the Draconian Biden-Fauci regime, or I might explode in rage.

Who knows if Trump will follow through with his threat or if it will even withstand legal challenges, but this embarrassing list should be tacked to the wall of every newsroom, courthouse, and college classroom in the country.

As we like to say around these parts, “You can't hate the media enough.”

Sneaky Spanberger Quietly Made Huge Decision on Men in Women's Sports, Hoped No One Would Notice

I’ll just say it: Abigail Spanberger has simply been an awful governor. The Virginia Democrat ran on a somewhat reasonable platform, by today’s standards anyway, and didn’t seem as extremist and wild-eyed as many of her leftist and Democratic Socialist colleagues.

Since taking office in January, however, she’s been like a snake that shed its skin, only to reveal a completely different color underneath. She quickly veered to the Left on immigration enforcement and advocated for strict new measures prohibiting cooperation with ICE and federal law enforcement. She signed a slew of hardcore gun control bills, including a bill that will ban the future sale and manufacture of so-called “assault weapons” and another that makes it easier to hold weapons manufacturers and dealers liable for how their products are used.

In her campaign, she claimed she didn’t support a redistricting plan that would favor Democrats, and then almost immediately after moving into the Executive Mansion in Richmond, she about-faced on that too. She’s slick, ruthless, and will apparently hide who she really is and what real core values are if it helps her get more votes.

If you need more proof, how about this one: Spanberger quietly rolled back proposed protections for girls in her state — and she did it in July with no announcement, no statements, no press conference, no nothing.

Spanberger’s administration withdrew a proposed regulation that would have prevented biological males from competing on female-only athletic teams and entering certain female-designated spaces, including locker rooms and bathrooms.

The withdrawal occurred July 30, 2026, but received little public attention until September. The administration did not issue a news release or publicly announce the decision.

The change appeared instead on the Virginia Regulatory Town Hall website, which lists the proposed regulations as having been "withdrawn on 07/30/2026 after the comment period had ended."

Another person who was disgusted? Hungarian Olympian Réka György, who lost a place in the 2022 NCAA swimming final to the infamous 6-foot-1 former University of Pennsylvania male swim star, Lia Thomas, who swam on the women’s team. She knows full well the pain the twisted practice can have on its victims and said she was “very disappointed” by the news:

"It’s really sad for me because I had the petition filed a year ago, and Youngkin approved it and wanted to take the next step and protect female athletes and female spaces in Virginia," György told OutKick.

"I don’t like to see that people are using their power, especially political power, to make decisions and hurt other people. And also, it’s coming from a female."

Virginia Tech swimmer Reka Gyorgy has released a full statement on the NCAA allowing Lia Thomas to compete in the 500 freestyle. She was 17th in the event.

Former University of Kentucky star Riley Gaines raced Thomas at the NCAAs and has become a leading opponent of males in women’s sports and a high-profile advocate for (real) women, especially athletes. She too can’t believe we’re still fighting this ludicrous battle:

It’s incredible to me that this is even an issue. As many have pointed out, anyone advocating for dudes in girls’ locker rooms a decade or two ago would have been laughed off this planet. Why? Because it’s one of the most idiotic ideas that has ever been floated, and it shows just how loony many in the American Left have become.

Spanberger has been a disgrace and has governed more like AOC than like an adult. Now, she’s added to her already depraved legacy by selling out her own gender, and she didn’t even have the guts to say it out loud.

Iowa Dem Tried to Attack This GOP Rep Over China. She Should Be Careful.

Democrat Iowa state Sen. Sarah Trone Garriott is running against Rep. Zach Nunn

 

 in Iowa’s 3rd District. It’s a swing district — a Democrat can certainly win here. But if they run these trash ads that are easily shot up like Swiss cheese due to hypocrisy, it could be tough sledding.

 

Trone claims Nunn is like the Manchurian candidate, someone in China’s pocket. I believe the term is that he’s taken thousands of dollars from business interests in Beijing. The crux of the attack is that Nunn took donations from Syngenta, which is now run by ChemChina. 

Okay, but does Garriott know that FEC filings are public? She’s been taking cash from lefty megadonors who might as well speak Mandarin, given how entwined their interests are with China. Top lawyer Adam Klein assisted with ChemChina’s purchase of Syngenta. And then there’s Jonathan and Jennifer Soros, whose interests included a $25 million cash injection into Hainan Airlines in 2005; Jonathan served as deputy co-chair of the Soros Fund at the time. 

Nunn served in the U.S. Air Force for twenty years, remains a colonel in the Air Force Reserve, and has pushed bills to curb China’s encroachment into Iowa’s farmlands. 

You can’t say someone is in China’s pocket or letting China run roughshod over American interests when you’re the one receiving that Beijing cash. It just doesn’t work, Sarah.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Easily Wrecks the Media's Pearl-Clutching Over CNN's White House Ban

President Trump faced questions yesterday about banning MSNBC, CNN, and Politico from the White House grounds. He doubled down, saying they’re fake news and intentionally peddle false stories. He’s not wrong, and for now, they’re done. Starting tomorrow, they’re no longer invited on campus. Yet calling this a muzzling of the press is a gross overreaction. Obama tried it with Fox News; Biden did it to The New York Post. No doubt they’ll be invited back, but for now, the process is the punishment until the inevitable lawsuit is filed.

Not being unfamiliar with the media’s antics, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who was visiting the White House Friday, couldn’t help but notice the glaring issue with the media’s pearl-clutching:

I think it’s hard for you to argue against a free press when you’re literally standing in the Oval Office asking questions of the president of the United States. He’s been more accessible and easier to talk to than any president in history. Think about the previous administration, where you could barely get through a press conference. And yet you have the opportunity to stand here in the Oval Office and ask questions to the leader of the free world.

Have a drink, shut the hell up for a second, and enjoy the weekend, CNN and company. You know you’ll get access back, but if this administration can give you the belt every now and then, deal with it.

Montana Dem Sam Forstag Scrubs Campaign Website of Progressive Endorsements

Democrat Sam Forstag, a progressive running for control of Montana’s First District, has altered the endorsements page of his campaign website to hide the support of America’s most radical leftists.

An archived version of Forstag’s site from June 9 shows a slew of endorsements from prominent progressive figures from around the country, including Sen. Bernie Sanders and Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, 

 

Pramila Jayapal, and Jamie Raskin. 

 

Now, with just 46 days remaining until Election Day, Forstag’s most radical supporters have disappeared from his site altogether.

Despite his attempts to run from his progressive supporters on his website, Forstag has still leveraged their support in fundraising emails. An archived email from September 7 sent out by the Forstag campaign featured the candidate side-by-side with Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders and stated that he received their support because they knew he was a “progressive brawler.”

Just as Forstag launched his attempt to obscure his most ardent supporters, he came under fire for allegedly receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars for lobbying on behalf of the ACLU, the progressive City of Bozeman, and the Provello Center. Information released by DemocratFacts showed that, during Forstag’s tenure at the ACLU, the group attempted to defund local law enforcement and encouraged “gender affirming care” for minors. Forstag himself advocated against bills that banned men from participating in women’s sports and a prohibition against transition surgeries for minors.

"Socialist lobbyist Sam Forstag can scrub Bernie Sanders and AOC off his website, but he cannot bleach them out of his political DNA,” NRCC spokesman Christian Martinez told Townhall. “A last-minute campaign facelift won’t erase years of lobbying for far-left groups that fought to allow men to compete in women’s sports and allow sex changes to be performed on children without their parents’ permission, all while backing tax hikes that would hammer working Montana families trying to get by.”

Trump: U.S. has entered into agreement with Denmark and Greenland that gives us permanent control over security, all other needs in Greenland — NO COST to U.S.

President Donald Trump revealed on Truth Social that the United States has finalized a strategic agreement with the Kingdom of Denmark and Greenland, granting Washington permanent authority over the Arctic island’s defense, security, and related operational needs.

Disclosing the accord on social media, Trump described the arrangement as an “Infinite Life” framework designed to completely resolve long-standing American security concerns in the region.

Under the terms outlined by Trump, the U.S. will hold the unilateral power to determine and carry out all necessary actions to secure both Greenland and the United States, effectively solidifying American defense jurisdiction across the strategically vital territory.

The main pillar of the pact dictates that foreign adversaries will be strictly prohibited from maintaining a military presence, establishing strategic bases, or making sensitive infrastructural investments within Greenland without explicit prior approval from Washington.

Macklemore’s recent onstage proclamation of “Free Palestine” during an early September set at MetLife Stadium has erupted into a full-blown touring fiasco, with the rapper now removed from the remaining U.S. dates of Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour. The singer introduced his protest song “Hind’s Hall” and used video imagery to underline his point, but what some saw as conscience-driven activism turned into a logistical and PR nightmare almost overnight.

Promoters say several stadiums informed them they would not permit concerts to proceed with Macklemore on the bill, forcing a decision that has been framed as necessary to keep the tour alive rather than a simple censorship fight. Gillette Stadium’s owner, Robert Kraft,

Meanwhile, Robert Kraft and venue operators defended their choices as efforts to keep stadiums welcoming and to prevent the platforming of speech they deem harmful, placing private property rights and public safety ahead of performative politics. Conservatives should applaud the protection of community norms and the practical steps taken to avoid inflaming already fraught tensions, while also demanding consistent standards rather than selective enforcement.

Ed Sheeran found himself squeezed between maintaining a business that serves millions of fans and staying out of a geopolitical fight, insisting the promoter’s decision was not his and that he didn’t want to turn concerts into political forums. 

 

The result — a splintered tour, confused fans, and artists withdrawing in protest — is a reminder that mixing mass entertainment with hot-button international politics carries both moral and economic costs.

The lesson for performers is simple: if you choose to weaponize the stage for divisive politics, don’t be surprised when owners, promoters, and even fellow artists respond — sometimes harshly. Call it accountability, not censorship; the marketplace of public opinion and private enterprise is sorting this one out, and patriotic Americans who value free expression and community stability should insist on fairness, not chaos, when celebrities try to hijack mass platforms.

Chip Roy Exposes James Talarico's Texas Values Deception

Rep. Chip Roy didn’t mince words on Finnerty when he warned Texans that James Talarico is “100 percent out of step” with the values that built this state, and his blunt assessment should wake up every hardworking voter. Roy’s critique wasn’t theater — it was a clear shot across the bow aimed at a candidate who keeps trying to recast his record for political convenience.

Voters deserve to know the whole story about Talarico’s shifting positions on gender and religion — the comments that made headlines and that he has since tried to walk back. From past floor remarks about God and confusing claims about biological sexes to recent reversals on trans athlete policy, Texans have every right to question whether his conversions are authentic or campaign-calculated.

On crime, Roy was right to point out that Talarico’s legislative history undercuts any claim to be a law-and-order moderate; the record shows votes and rhetoric that left police and victims second to progressive agendas. Conservatives should keep hammering that when cities get soft on criminals, the consequences are felt in every neighborhood and on every payroll.

 

Border security is not a political talking point for Texans — it is a lived crisis — and Talarico’s attempts to brand himself a “border security Democrat” ring hollow given his earlier positions and the left’s broader open-border push. Voters should be skeptical of last-minute pivots designed to paper over a long alignment with policies that failed to protect Texas families and communities.

This race isn’t abstract; it is a fight over who will defend our laws, protect our children, and secure our borders. Republicans are right to expose Talarico’s record and to remind voters that flashy TV lines and last-minute flip-flops won’t erase a history that puts him at odds with mainstream Texas values.

If conservatives want to keep Texas on the right track, we must keep pressing these differences loudly and relentlessly — hold candidates accountable for past votes, demand clarity on values, and turn out in force come November. Texans know the difference between genuine conviction and political theater, and it’s time to make sure that difference matters at the ballot box.
