Maine Voting Videos Draw DOJ Scrutiny
The Justice Department is reviewing allegations of election interference in Maine after surveillance footage from Lewiston City Hall raised questions about whether interpreters improperly directed Somali voters toward Democrat candidates. U.S. Attorney for Maine Andrew Benson, an appointee of President Donald Trump, said his office would review "evidence concerning complaints of voter intimidation and election interference," according to The Wall Street Journal. The federal review follows a report Friday by The Maine Wire, a conservative news outlet that obtained security camera recordings through a request under Maine's Freedom of Access Act. The outlet alleged that workers affiliated with nongovernmental organizations used their positions as interpreters to coach non-English-speaking Somali voters, direct them toward Democrat candidates and, in some cases, fill out ballots. The Maine Wire said approximately 140 hours of footage covered early voting at City Hall beginning Oct. 13. It claimed more than 200 Somali voters received assistance from a relatively small group of interpreters during that period. The publication accused left-wing organizations of conducting an "industrial-scale ballot stuffing scheme," although the footage has not established that fraudulent ballots were cast or that any of the voters were ineligible. According to The Maine Wire, some recordings show interpreters pointing to selections on ballots, handling voting materials and approaching voters who had not requested assistance. The Maine Wire also reported that election officials intervened in some interactions. Lewiston officials have distributed written guidance explaining the rules for assisting voters. Maine permits voters who need help reading or marking their ballots to receive assistance from an interpreter, friend, relative, or another individual. The American Civil Liberties Union of Maine said that helpers do not have to be registered voters or old enough to vote, although they cannot be the voter's employer or union representative. Election officials also may provide assistance. Such assistance does not permit intimidation or improperly influencing a voter's selections. The allegations have prompted objections from local officials and members of Lewiston's Somali community, who contend that legitimate voters are being unfairly singled out. Lewiston Mayor Carl Sheline told The Wall Street Journal that the Somali community was being targeted by political provocateurs. Shukri Abdirahman, a county commissioner representing Lewiston, told the newspaper that she had provided interpreting assistance to two voters, including her mother, who cannot read or write English. "People are just trying to vote. It's very frustrating," Abdirahman said. © 2026 Newsmax. All rights reserved. |
'It's Wrong': Nancy Pelosi Stuns Democrats, Throws Down on El-Sayed Ahead of Michigan Election
![]() |
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is taking a direct swipe at Muslim extremist candidate Abdul El-Sayed ahead of a critical Michigan race that could decide control of the Senate. The Democrat doyenne undercut El-Sayed and his Muslim-brotherhood-from-another-motherhood Zohran Mamdani on Donny Deutsch’s On Brand podcast. "When you say Israel doesn't have the right to be a Jewish state, that's antisemitic as far as I'm concerned with all that," Deutsch explained. He identified Mamdani and El-Sayed, tamely describing their vitriol as “concerning.” "No, it's more than concerning," she shot back. "It's wrong. It's wrong. And it isn't a reflection of the Democrats in the Congress of the United States." She wasn’t done. "This new person in Michigan, we'll see if he gets elected to the Congress. But the mayor, bless his heart, I hope he succeeds as mayor, but I don't agree with some of the things he has said." Pelosi called on House Democrats to distance themselves from such statements. While the former Speaker didn’t drop rhetorical bombs on El-Sayed the way that Hamas likes to drop actual ones on Israeli schoolchildren, her subtle criticism has disproportionate weight due to the political timing and the way Democrats of her ilk always stick together. Something is different with radical Democrats’ discomfort with Islamo-communist extremists like El Sayed. It is difficult to play the “identity politics” game when your party is attacking one of the most persecuted minorities in world history: Jews. It’s enough to make astute observers of politics sit up and take notice that Democrats don’t really care about identity politics except to the extent that it gains them political power. It’s a chessboard calculation based on demographics, at the end of the day, not a moral commitment to treating people the right way — that is to say, equally regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or ethnicity. The modern Democrat Party doesn’t believe in any of that. Don’t let them fool you. If the Left’s hatred of the “All Lives Matter” response during the BLM riots didn’t convince you that these aren’t actually “liberals” that we are dealing with, nothing will. So, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that the Democrat Party is turning against Jewish Americans after it abandoned Asian Americans and has flat-out demonized white Americans according to their imaginary “privilege.” As RedState's Nick Arama reported Monday, Rebellion PAC, a political organization co-founded by The Young Turks commentator Cenk Uygur, released an advertisement portraying American grocery shoppers blaming U.S. support for Israel for their inability to afford food. The advertisement features a couple discussing grocery prices before the woman tells her partner: "Honey, you're going to have to put those eggs back. They like eggs, but we have to set that $7 aside for killing Palestinians." The advertisement also attacks Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers for his support of Israel, suggesting that he prioritizes Israeli officials over American constituents. That message drew immediate condemnation, including from Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI), whom El-Sayed defeated in the Democrat primary. "This type of fearmongering about Israel is wrong. It is not a winning strategy for any state. It does nothing to help Michigan Democrats win up and down the ballot in eight days," Stevens declared. Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) went considerably further, demanding that El-Sayed personally condemn the advertisement. "If @AbdulElSayed truly means what he says about treating the Jewish community as he would treat his own children, then he would immediately condemn this dangerous ad as outrageously antisemitic and demand that it be taken down. If not, then he's full of shit," Goldman posted. El-Sayed's campaign responded by distancing itself from the advertisement, saying it was "not affiliated in any way with the Abdul for Senate campaign." "No one speaks for Abdul but himself and his campaign," a spokesperson said. The advertisement was produced by an outside political organization, not the candidate's campaign. But the ad illustrates why Democrats are being pressed to clarify where they stand on Israel, since their own allies produce antisemitic campaign ads. Mamdani has previously declined to endorse Israel specifically as a Jewish state, arguing that governments should not privilege one religion over another. "I think any state that privileges one religion over the other is one that I can't tell you I support, whether it be Israel or Saudi Arabia or anywhere else," Mamdani told ABC News in June. El-Sayed has similarly expressed reservations about endorsing Israel's Jewish identity, suggesting that the concept conflicts with liberal values. But he’s not a liberal. This is a guy who is playing the useful idiots of the Democrat Party and has attacked states like Oklahoma for forbidding sharia law. We hear a lot from Democrats about Israel because it is a Jewish state, but where is the similar criticism of Muslim states? According to the Pew Research Center, Muslims constitute a majority in approximately 53 countries and territories. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, meanwhile, has 57 member states, although not every member has a Muslim-majority population. Many countries explicitly identify Islam as their official religion, including Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Iran. Many impose serious restrictions on the religious freedom of minorities, including Christians and Jews. The advocacy organization Open Doors documents persecution of Christians around the world in its annual World Watch List. Its 2026 report identifies Somalia, Yemen, Sudan, Syria, Nigeria, Pakistan, Libya and Iran among the countries where Christians face particularly severe persecution at the hands of Muslims. Open Doors documents that Muslims have killed thousands of Jews and Christians for their faith and have carried out thousands of attacks on churches and Christian properties. Israel, meanwhile, is a parliamentary democracy in which Jewish, Muslim and Christian citizens participate in elections, practice their religions and serve in public institutions. Pelosi's comments are also revealing for another reason. As Red State's Bob Hoge reported, the former Speaker was among approximately 40 House Democrats who did not sign a letter demanding that the Trump administration halt its immigration investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar. The letter, organized by Rep. Pramila Jayapal, got roughly 175 Democratic signatures. Pelosi wouldn’t sign on. But with El-Sayed seeking a Senate seat, people who believe in religious freedom and other constitutional rights should be concerned about his rhetoric. Why should the world's only Jewish-majority state be held to a standard that isn't consistently demanded of the dozens of countries where Islam is the majority religion? It’s the kind of intellectual dishonesty that should cause someone to cross a politician’s name off of a list, not to mark a checkbox for him on Election Day. CA's Election Worker Unions Get a TRO, CHIRLA Gets DOJ's List, and DOJ Gets the Shaft
![]() |
On Thursday the SEIU and AFL-CIO, representing election workers throughout California, filed suit against the Department of Justice in the Northern District of California, accusing the Department of Justice of "carrying out a series of efforts to actually or attempting to intimidate, threaten, or coerce election workers who aid others in exercising their right to vote," and requested that a temporary restraining order (TRO) be entered to prevent the DOJ from attempting to force them to segregate ballots from likely noncitizens and from "threatening" prosecution for what they consider to be just doing their job. Of course, Norm Eisen's outfit is representing Plaintiffs, which also include the NAACP and LULAC, two groups that recently requested intervenor status in the ongoing lawsuit in the Central District we've been reporting on all week. Without calling for a hearing, and without the benefit of any responsive pleading from the DOJ, District Judge Trina Thompson, a Biden appointee, issued the requested TRO Friday evening, saying that Defendants are "temporarily enjoined and stayed, including under 5 U.S.C. §705, from the following":
Now, I'm not an attorney, but I'm skeptical that this woman has the authority to do many of the things she's purporting to do here. Regarding number four, Bill Shipley says, "There is black letter authority that a federal law enforcement officer can ADVISE anyone of the law and the possible consequences of violating the law. This judge is an idiot."
And somehow she's entitled to know about law enforcement activity? I don't think so. Also Friday, across the country, our old friend Judge Boasberg entered an order in a separate case that the DOJ had to provide CHIRLA (the California organization RedState exposed as being behind most of the organization and funding of the anti-ICE riots in 2025) with the 20,000 list of "likely noncitizens" on California's voter rolls so CHIRLA could see if any of its members are on the list. Meanwhile, CHIRLA operated as a Los Angeles County Flex Vote Center on Friday, breaking laws regulating conduct near polling places in the process.
With these two rulings, and everything that happened in the Central District case this week, the Supreme Court's gonna have to get involved. Soon. (I apologize for the less-than-formal tone of this quick update; it's Friday night and I'm weary of this week's constant lawfare, but wanted to be sure our readers had the quick information.) Why Abdul El-Sayed's Latest Ad Has This Dem Strategist Ripping His Hair Out
![]() |
Abdul El-Sayed was supposed to appear with Rep. Haley Stevens, 👇
his former primary opponent, but that looks dead in the water. Stevens has avoided appearing with El-Sayed; this would’ve been their first joint event. El-Sayed had to denounce an ad produced by Rebellion PAC in support of his candidacy that was antisemitic, even ardent liberals agree. It’s the one where a couple can’t buy groceries because Jewish people exist — that’s the theme. El-Sayed has yet to forcefully denounce the ad: antisemitism appears to be an issue he’s reticent to comment on, which is a red flag. Stevens and El-Sayed both issued statements. They’re at each other’s throats. Now, El-Sayed's new ad left longtime Democrat strategist Paul Begala
a little sick to his stomach. It’s not an offensive ad, but it’s bad politics. Barack Obama went out of his way to rally for El-Sayed and bolster his standing with black voters, which likely won’t work. Still, the most popular Democrat appeared, and you don’t use any footage from that rally in this ad; El-Sayed opted for Tucker Carlson. Begala wants El-Sayed to win, but he’s flummoxed by this move. Texas, Are You Listening?
![]() |
Recently, on X, Libs of TikTok provided a few of the deviant, un-American, incoherent ramblings James Talarico has emitted in his political career, to wit: 1. "God is non-binary." 2. "Modern science obviously recognizes that there are many more than two biological sexes. In fact, there are six." 3. "I always think of myself as a Christian who hates Christianity." 4. "Radicalized white men are the greatest domestic terrorist threat in our country." 5. "Our system of policing is deeply broken. We must replace it with something new and something better." This is only a very small sample — very small — of Talarico-isms. Texas, are you listening? It is difficult for me to believe that my native Lone Star State has gone so brain-dead as to elect a man like James Talarico. There are pockets of depravity in Texas (Austin, some areas in the bigger cities, etc.), but those places are not the majority of the state (I hope), and for the most part, the people of Texas have shown reasonably good sense in their political decisions. There are some notable — notable — exceptions to that: Lyndon Johnson, the Bush family, James Hogg, who named his daughter “Ima” (he didn’t have a daughter named “Ura”), and a few others. But no place is perfect, not even Texas. What frightens me is that the people of the state — the Democrats — would even nominate a man like Talarico. Ok, Lyndon Johnson was as crooked, as smarmy, a vote-buyer as America has ever produced; but he wasn’t a James Talarico. The far-left trend of so much of America has influenced Texas, too, I’m sorry to see and say. Can Talarico win? I don’t think so, but I must admit I’m concerned. As I recently asked on Townhall (read it here), are there enough God-fearing, patriotic Americans left to save the country, and that question applies to Texas as well. When Texas falls, folks, that might be the final blow for America. California and the West Coast, along with New York and New England, are hopeless. Texas is an Atlas which “middle America” needs, and if/when it goes blue, the Democratic Party will be in control of nearly all the major, powerful states in the nation. There is still hope for Florida and Ohio, but they aren’t strong enough to overcome the combined weight of New England, the Left Coast, and Texas. For Democrats, it will then only be a matter of cowering the rest of the peons in America into submission. Then the godless Democrats will have the totalitarian control they crave. Of course, we still have guns. But they’d have the military. Whether the Left would be able to take totalitarian control without a civil war is a good, though frightening, question. The Left has shown, all over the world, that they don’t care how many dead bodies they must crawl over to get to the top, and countless millions of Americans, with their guns, will die before submitting to communist and atheist tyranny. Whether there would be a civil war or not, the end result would be the same — America becoming another communist hellhole. The Marxists said, well over 100 years ago, that they intended to take over the whole world. We smirked at that when the Soviet Union collapsed, and we thought the war was won. “The end of history,” Francis Fukuyama wrote in 1992, “democracy is victorious.” But he, and we, were wrong (though I thought at the time the guy was crazy). Marxism has come back stronger than ever, and most Americans have been totally unable — or unwilling — to see it, or to resist it. And if they don’t see it soon, Marxism will fulfill its goals. Texas, are you awake? Are you listening? Is this what America has really become, or are the people just not paying attention? "No, I don't agree with Democrats, I just hate Donald Trump"? Why do they despise Trump so much that they’d vote for hate-America Democrats? He's not perfect, no human is, but he isn't the devil, either. Have this many Americans truly become degenerate, promiscuous, God-hating, child-destroying, socialists and communists? Is that what our country (the majority, not all of us) has really changed into? If so, it's sickening, and I want no part of it. But then, if this is now America, and I can’t tolerate it, where would I go? What place in the world is any better? What country today is truly based on virtuous freedom and not government oppression and dependence? What country’s government doesn't tax, regulate, and tyrannize its citizens into submission and slavery? What do I do, move to the middle of Antarctica where nobody can find me? Well, I’m going to keep fighting to save my country, that’s what I intend to do. But my point is, what will I do if I lose? I lived 10 years in communist China, and that’s one of the major reasons I fight so hard against the Democratic Party. I’ve lived it, and I don’t want it for America. But how can I get people to see that? I know we all love America and want to save her. But can we, honestly? These leftist communists aren’t going to all of a sudden change their hearts and become God-fearing, virtuous, American patriots. And sadly, we’d probably have to convert a lot of Republicans, too, at least back to God. Is this the kind of America we want to live in? If we lose big in these midterms, and then in 2028, will it finally be time to bring up the “s” word again (“secession”), and have a serious discussion about it? Or will we become resigned to cowering, and accept living in James Talarico’s America? Texas, are you listening to Talarico? My native people, are a majority of you really that deaf and blind? Trump DOJ issues over 1K subpoenas to combat ‘rampant fraud’ in Minn.
Report: Alaska Senate candidate Daniel J. Sullivan flees town amid alleged Democrat-led ‘hoax’ campaign, criminal probe
Daniel J. Sullivan Jr., the media-frenzied independent candidate running for the U.S. Senate in Alaska who shares his name with incumbent Republican Senator Dan Sullivan, reportedly left his hometown of Petersburg earlier this week.
A source told CBS News that Sullivan was seen on a flight to Anchorage on Monday. His departure comes amid recent reports claiming that staffers associated with Democrat candidate Mary Peltola and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) helped recruit him to enter the race in an attempt to divide the vote and confuse Republican voters.
Both the Peltola campaign and the DSCC still deny recruiting Sullivan or coordinating with his campaign. Nonetheless, Sullivan’s current whereabouts remain unknown.
Opponents have spent months arguing that the candidate was coerced to enter the high-stakes race solely to mislead voters, leading Senator Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) to dismiss his namesake as a “sham candidate.” In Petersburg, dozens of residents told news outlets they have seen no campaign presence, brochures, or yard signs for the former elementary school teacher since he announced his candidacy last spring.
Although state election officials initially ruled Sullivan ineligible for the ballot on the grounds that his filing was meant to mislead voters, the Alaska Supreme Court ultimately reversed that decision, ruling that he met the legal qualifications to run.
During a joint press appearance, U.S. Attorney Michael Heyman and FBI Special Agent in Charge Matthew Schlegel announced on Friday that the months-long investigation into the ballot scheme was accelerated following the bombshell New York Times report that claimed Peltola’s campaign and the DSCC orchestrated a plot to place a spoiler candidate on the ballot to confuse voters.
“Recent reporting has resulted in troubling new revelations,” Heyman said, adding that he assigned “several attorneys” in his office to work on the case.
Heyman also confirmed that both a civil lawsuit and a criminal probe are now underway regarding the alleged ballot sabotage scheme, though he did not specify the exact legal violations being investigated.
“We will not let anyone or any group undermine this election,” he said. “When credible information comes out, we are committed to pursuing that information to deceive voters, and we will act on it. We are acting on it intensely and swiftly.”
